We're visiting from PA, staying at a rental property, and we stocked up on some grocery essentials. The cost of living here is noticeably different from PA. Everything from gas, cigarettes, potato chips, to tasty cake donuts was anywhere from $1 - $4 cheaper than where we live. The meat sold at Harter House is awesome. The lunch meat in particular is awesome. The ham tasted like it just came out of the smoker and was sliced to order! We bought burgers and chicken as well, to make on the grill, and those tasted delicious too. The chicken breasts are huge by the way! They sell beer and liquor too, which isn't common in PA, so that was convenient! Where they are lacking is in the bakery department. A larger/fresh selection of baked goods would earn this place 5 stars. Lastly, the cashiers were such friendly and pleasant people. I was in line to pay and the cashier said. I'll take whoever on register 1. She should have invited the next inline (me) to the register she was opening. Instead 6 people left the store before I did. It was rude and I will never shop at Harter House again. read more

It was nice enough, not crowded. Limited produce section. The meat was just ok, some off brands. The people were nice though.

Great local grocery store that had a ton of fresh produce as well as a lot of good staples. We were greeted and welcomed and could find things easily which often can be a challenge in a new store. I loved some of the discounted items and only had an issue with pasta which had been mostly purchased prior to our visit. We did find some but no gluten free options. If you need a good grocery spot I encourage you to try this one as it was a great grocery experience for us. read more

This place is a good argument for supporting smaller businesses. They have an old school grocery store feel with some products I haven't seen other places, like Gillette body wash and peanut butter yoo hoo. They don't have a ton of selection, just FYI, but it was refreshing to walk through a place that didn't resemble Walmart. read more

I love this store! It is so peaceful. The management and employees are all so kind, the store is always stocked, and it is never frantic in there. I am usually in and out in 10 min or less. Recently I locked my car keys and my phone inside my car. When I asked to use their phone, they quickly allowed me to and overheard my situation. One of the employees had a kit that opens locked vehicles and he happily offered to open my car! In 10 minutes my car was open, I didn't have to pay a locksmith, and I was on my way home! read more

This is a smaller grocery store with a good selection of produce and an excellent selection of meats. The employees were all very friendly.

We think the employee behind the service desk was most likely sleeping and walked out with an awful attitude! He acted like he was asleep and was woken up. It was completely unacceptable for him to be so unprofessional and verbally attack my friends when one of them simply tapped in the counter. Our friend taps on everything and it had nothing to do with anything in that moment. I am a firm believer in you get what you give. This guy came out angry and acted as though we were an incredible inconvenience and deserved the resistance he received. I feel he is solely responsible for our going to a different store to purchase groceries for our group of 12 this trip and every future trip. We visit this area several times a year and will take our business and money elsewhere. Perhaps that guy should consider some therapy for how incredibly sensitive he is along with anger management followed by some professional training! read more

A little small and they didn't have everything we wanted but overall we liked them They also had a decent selection of alcohol which was nice so we didn't have to stop at another store. This is the best show in town! Harter house delivers on service, pride, cleanliness and top notch produce and meat. I have lived in the Branson area for 6 years now and have concluded the only place to shop for food is Harter House. The other stores do not keep up with produce rotation and shelf life like Harter House. The meat is great and they are very efficient. The checkout staff is very accommodating. The only this I would say is its not a big box store so they don't have space for all options. But the owner/operators/managers are readily available to assist and staff is great. read more

I really like the service .I order and have my groceries delivered. It could not get much better. Usually I get Bryan and, he's wonderful brings them in and goes way and beyond his duties. We go 45 minutes out of our way to shop Harter House butcher shop. Always fresh, always helpful butchers, happy to grind up more meat if they run out, grilling tips, and a killer meat loaf all ready made in 1 or 2 lb options. Often produce and other grocery items are the same or less than what I can get at Walmart, and the employees are way friendlier and more helpful than Walmart! Love our nearly local Harter House. I love this store. They have the best meat selection. The workers are so friendly. Sometimes they have really good sales. Like name brand cearal for 1.99 of best choice for 99 ¢ the best thing is the greasy meat market. I always get the ground beef 87\13. I pond package for 1.39 ( the last time I was there but it changes) a package of 6 thick cut center cut bone in pork chops for 7dollars. Always clean great prices on fresh veggies as well. This summer I got a gallon size bag of fresh green beans for 99cents. But the people are what make it worth the almost 45 minute drive for me. I have never in the 2 years I've shopped here dealt with anyone that was rude or unhelpful. They are always willing for help me find what I need. Great hometown grocery store. We found it clean, fully stocked shelves, enough workers to help throughout the store, and the Best Butcher Shop that I've seen in years. The prices were very compatable to or better than Walmart. We're full-time RV'ers and travel all of the time. I just wish I could take this store with me across the country. read more

For the Branson area, Harter House is as good as it gets. Very clean store, good prices, and a meat department that can't be beat. Other stores may have a slightly wider selection, but the combination of prices and quality makes it the best around. read more

The food is old here. Chicken is rubbery. The food is like a goodwill store. Very limited choices, high prices and a waste of your time. Go to anywhere else to get your food unless old meat is your kind of dish. read more

Boston Burger (hamburger with some ground pork in it) makes a mean burger, it is always reasonably priced (like $1.99/lb), fresh, and tasty. Their specials are great. It is not as cheap as Walmart, but if you consider the time you save (in steps and not waiting in long lines at checkout) it might be a wash. Produce is good, no problems so far. Meat case is very good, not the best in the whole world but very good. Their sausages are decent, steaks good, usually have lamb, so-so selection of fish (it is not their thing), prices are decent for meats too. The clerks at the checkout are always friendly, professional, do not waste your time, and they bag your groceries (which is nice) and will help you to your car if you need it. It is a good little grocery/meat market, and for this area is the best I have found so far. read more

Our friend purchased a 5.83 lb. prime rib roast for us for a Christmas gift yesterday. She said since it was just us two we could have it cut into steaks if we preferred. My husband took the roast to the meat department today and Jake charged him $2.99 lb. to cut it up because the roast was on sale, not the steaks. I called and spoke to Jake and asked him why he had charged so much for this and he explained that the roast was on sale, not the steak and there were incidentals included. When I asked him what the incidentals were he said butcher paper and tape. He said we were lucky he didn't charge us $5.99 lb. He also said my husband didn't say anything about it so was I mad at him for not speaking up. I informed him my husband didn't really want to tell me because he knew I would be mad. I found it really rude he would even say that. Getting the steaks cut up ended up costing $18.32. We would have paid an appropriate price for this service with no problem. $2.99 lb. to cut it into steaks was not an appropriate price. Won't be back to this store if this is how they treat their customers. read more

Bought NY steaks Oct 3. Went to prep them for grilling Oct. 5 package says use by Oct. 6. They were brown and smelled bad. Husband said no way. Drive 35 min to the store. Manager held one to his nose and said they were fine. Added that he likes to age his meat and thst USDA says it's ok to eat it like that. He wouldnt refund my $38 and I told him to throw them away and walked out. My husband said uh no. He went into speak to the manager who smugly said the steaks were fine and he even got a 2nd opinion. He asked my husband if he wanted them back and he told the guy to shove em up his beep. The manager smirked and said he was going to have them for dinner. I guess if you'll eat rancid smelling meat on someone else's dime that says a lot about your character. I wont shop there ever again and neither will my husband who was banned. Haha. Worst customer service ever. I would give zero stars if it were an option. read more
