I joined a group of friends for a meetup of Royal proportions. The locale is in a strip mall with a convenient and free parking lot not too far from the GSP. The service was amazing. The waitresses handled our group of 25 beautifully and with amazing patience. They will take orders manually, but they also have a kiosk to place and pay for your order while you take a seat and wait to have it brought over fresh out of the kitchen. There was not a dry mouth in the house. All were watering in delicious wait for what we each had ordered. The most popular dish? The brisket platter with choice of two sides. I chose the brisket sandwich and was fully pleased with it and the mac n cheese I chose to go with it. But, the way I saw folks went home with their leftovers planned for a second meal? Next time, it'll be a platter for me with hush puppies and their coleslaw with additional side of their baked beans. Life for real y'all you will scratch the BBQ itch so well here, even though you'll be thinking how quickly can ya make it back to enjoy it fresh. Enjoy! read more

First time visit to the restaurant, have done take out in the past. The main dishes are very good. Enjoyed the ribs, chicken wings, and brisket. The fries were very good. Decent cole slaw. The beans came out cold which seems odd. The Mac and cheese is not special. Drinks are bottles and cans of soft drinks. It is not a large dining area, feels like most of the business is take out and delivery. I would go back and order take out when in the mood for BBQ. read more

I enjoyed the Brisket Platter, Pulled Pork, and Tots. With limited quality bbq joints in the area, Harry's is a solid option.

BBQ snob here- Harry's is always good, fresh, affordable, and is the best BBQ in Ocean County! read more

The fries were probably two days old, dry and horrible. The pulled pork was the end piece which they shouldn't serve to customers, dry and hard, first time there and definitely the last!!!!!!! GROSS!! read more

The Facility is in a strip mall off of 37 East. The smell of smoked meats hit your senses as soon as you walk through the door. It is well lit and decorated as you would expect, with pictures of cattle, hogs and chickens, but not over done. The menus are pretty extensive. They offer a large variety of Pork, Beef and Chicken. We order the beef brisket and chicken thigh plates. Our sides were Mac & cheese, creamy and cheesy, baked beans( loaded with smoked pork, delicious . The brisket was juicy and fork tender, no knife needed. The Cole slaw was creamy and it had just the right amount of bite. The sauces we had were Carolina and barbecue, house made, both a great addition to the meats. You can't forget to order the corn bread, moist, soft and delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly as well as the owner Harry and his wife. If you are craving BBQ this is the spot. You will not be disappointed. We will be back for more great BBQ. read more

Take out order . Food was great! Got a brisket cheesesteak to share (they are huge !), it was delicious. Also a brisket quesadilla for a meal (in starter menu) & side order of hush puppies & Mac & cheese (so creamy & a bit of smoke--yum). Everything was great as usual! read more

We heard about his sandwiches when we went to Atlantic City so we drove down to Tom's River. It was well worth the drive.! Let me tell you ! I've been all over the world. The service was great. The food was outstanding. I have never had pork melt in my mouth and the bread the cornbread oh my God to die for I couldn't eat enough. We took so much food home now everyone's asked me. When am I going back? read more

Not impressed. The Buffalo mac n chicken bowl was not Buffalo in any way shape or form. The chicken was very tender but not Buffalo. Brisket was dry. The fries were $15 and there was a spoonful of chicken on top of some fries with cheese. Not going back. We had hpoed to be able to get a sample platter to try our various items but they have nothing like that. They suggested we order several platters instead!! We had already spent over $50 for lunch we weren't going to buy multiple platters for two people. Mac n Cheese was okay. Food was not bad but it wasn;t great either. read more

Another great lunch here at Harry's. We also got lucky, they had the burnt ends! Brisket, cornbread and baked beans were all delicious. Friendly service and absolutely great smelling place read more

@BigDudesBigFoods stopped in to check out @HarrysSmokinBBQ 's store location after loving the food from their truck a while back. I was in #TomsRiver so I had to get something delicious. Choosing from this well stacked menu was no easy task. Harry's Big Boy Melt was my choice. This is a Huge Sandwich. It's a Triple Decker mix of the Pulled Pork Melt and the Brisket Melt. with Bacon, Cheese, Slaw, BBQ Sauce and Carolina Gold Sauce on Texas Toast. It was definitely big enough to split but I dined alone. I also got a side of #HushPuppies and a raspberry @officialjoetea . Service was quick and everyone was friendly. The restaurant has a cool design, not your typical bbq spot decor. If you are in the area, definitely get to #HarrysSmokinBBQ and support a great #SmallBusiness You won't be disappointed. #BigDudesBigFoods #SupportSmallBusiness #BDBFCertified #BDBF read more

The food is amazing. The service very good at times it's busy expect a 10-15 minute wait but well worth it. The atmosphere is modern American bbq themed. The owner is usually on the property overseeing everything. Harry's been a land mark bbq server for many years both with the mobile food trailers, the restaurant and his catering. Prices are well below other area eateries for the same or similar foods. But at Harry's its all made in house. read more

The chicken cheesesteak is insanely good. Not your average! Juicy chicken thighs, perfect ratio of GP and Onions...subtle Smokey flavor. I recommend getting a side of the gold sauce. read more

If you are looking for super casual and excellent BBQ, this place is it! Perfect for takeout as well (the phone rang the whole time we were there). The pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it ( or you can get slaw on the side) was amazing. Lots of chunks of pork with great flavor. BBQ chicken platter was excellent! Great sauce. Sides of green beans with bacon and onion, and coleslaw were delicious. Looking forward to going g back to try ribs, brisket and Cuban melt sandwich, and potato salad and macaroni salad. They have Mac & cheese side too. Prices were reasonable and portions were big! Lot of parking right in front was perfect on a cold, windy day! read more

The food is delicious! The ribs are great not dried out and the pulled pork too! They have hush puppies! Yum.

Ribs were just ok , not fall off the bone and ends were tough and dry like they had been re heated , Texas toast was just a piece of bread sitting under the ribs , uneatable , not a good experience read more

Did the takeout. Good food, I'm biased, though, I lived in Texas and St. Loui, so I'm used to great BBQ. On a scale 1-10, Harry's is a solid 8. I'm still trying to understand why the chicken is always cut-up in NJ, sell 1/2 or full chicken. The BbQ sauce tasty, better than most. Friendly staff, clean location. But overall, good food. Everything was fast and hot. Prices are lower than most. Definitely will return!! read more

Good brisket. Corn bread and mac and cheese so so. Beans very good. Texas toast was bread and not toasted at all. I can live with all that, but when you ask me about sauce and whether I wanted it on the side or not and I say on the side I don't expect to get 10 miles to my home and discover no sauce at all. Luckily I had some Dinosaur barbecue sauce in my refrigerator. Would have like to have tried their sauces. read more

"Pit Beef" sammich from Harry's Smokin' BBQ in Tom's River NJ. Not a true pit beef sandwich because the meat was not cooked over a charcoal pit. He smokes his meat. However, excellent nonetheless! Nice toasted roll. Generous amount of roast beef that was perfectly cooked. I will deduct points for not being a true "pit" beef but it makes up for it on taste. I'll be back and only on Tuesday as this is a Tuesday only special. 8.3 read more

Was chased out of Harry's. I mentioned that the ribs that I ordered were cold and they replaced them with the same batch of cold ribs. Harry came running out of the back confronting me, yelling at me in front of all the rest of the customers. Harry needs medication and a class in restaurant management. Never returning!! read more

This place is a little hidden, you can't see it from the highway, in the West Marine/Floor and Decor strip mall. Seek it out and try it, you will be thrilled. Had the brisket cheesesteak sandwich with fries, it was one of the best I've ever had anywhere, fries were also perfect. Met Harry, super nice guy. I can't wait to go back and try something else! Seriously, find it, try it, it was great! read more

good solid barbecue friendly staff- a little hard to find as set back from rte 37 but worth the trip

I have eaten at Harry's here in Toms River, a number of times. I can honestly say I am so very impressed with the delicious menu, and the staff who goes out of their way to help in any way. Enjoy chatting with Harry, too. It's a great experience to eat at good BBQ locally. I totally recommend stopping there and enjoying either a small snack or a full out meal. You will not be disappointed. PS: It recently came to my attention that a customer was in the restaurant being obnoxious. Perhaps they were drunk, simply had no manners, or don't know when to stop. The norm for this restaurant is happy customers who return again and again for a wonderful meal. I am NOT FROM SAN FRANCISCO. I am from Toms River, NJ!!!!!!!! read more

Beyond excellent. Even the bbq chicken where you find it either dry or lack of flavor or both was mouth watering as was the pulled pork. Portions of both main and sides were generous . The staff was very good but when we walked in the place was cold. As we were eating the heat went on for 10 minutes then it got cold in the place. Had my jacket on and my wife also. As far as the food mine came out cold, sent it back then maybe warm. The corn bread was small and dry with no taste. My wifes was barely warm. Not a place I would go back to. Our friends felt the same way. read more
