First time coming here. I came around 11am and It was empty inside. The interior is super cute very retro diner. I ordered the 2 scrambled eggs with bacon and potatoes. I also got mango smoothie which was great.

First timer to DDs and it did not disappoint. Of course I ordered the Italian Hot Dog which is served in a homemade pizza dough roll with peppers and onions. A must try as this is now my favorite place for lunch.

Came here for breakfast one day from the outside i didn't know they served breakfast. I thought it was just hot dogs. But was i wrong they serve breakfast lunch and dinner And the whole menu is available anytime which is great for me bc sometimes i like something more then eggs in the morning. But this time i kept it traditional. I had 2 eggs fried with bacon and crispy fries with some toast. All that for $5 u cant beat that with a stick. Parents had the same thing we also added a side of sausage and some porkskin (Cheecharone idk how to spell it lol) on the side. Both sides were delicious as well. Hidden gem in the Beachwood area. Ill be coming back for lunch and dinner. The service was great. Very nice and friendly. The inside was immaculate clean and very bright and vibrant. The inside is very spacious with alot of seating. The food was fresh and tasty.

Great variety of food from breakfast to early dinner. Been there many times and was never disappointed. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Big variety of hot dogs with a huge variety of toppings. I recently tried the California omelet and it was excellent. Another excellent choice is the huevas rancheros, crispy tortilla with ham, cheese, beens, avocado and egg...yummmyyyy.

Our 2nd stop this @thewednesdaywarriors / @BigDudesBigFoods Saturday #TomsRiver run was @dickysdogs They have a tasty assortment of #footlong #hotdogs and a very friendly and efficient staff. It's very clean with a '50s vibe. We had some tasty dogs but they was a lot more on the menu. They brought us out some delicious empanadas too which we devoured. Make this your hotdog stop the next time you are in Toms River. #BigDudesBigFoods #CelebrateEveryDay #globaleats #shenanigans #BDBFCertified #ThePhoneEatsFirst #WOYP #Forkyeahfoodies #BDBF @forkyeahfoodies #YouDontKnowJersey #BeLocalish #ClearEyesFullBelliesCantLose #ABigDudesGottaDoWhatABigDudesGottaDo #HaveYouHuggedABigDudeToday

Today I went to Dicky's Dogs in Toms River. First time here even though it is close to me. With the closing of Boardwalk Hot Dogs, Dicky's is the only place I can get a pork/beef dog within miles unless you count Wawa. I knew they served Schickhaus and figured they switched to Wennings Griddle Franks. I checked to make sure because I didn't want any old Schickhaus dogs that might be lying around. These were the new Wennings Griddle Franks which are made by Grote and Weigel of Connecticut. They recently reformulated the recipe to make it less salty as well as changing the casing. Wennings even changed the packaging to make it look like Schickhaus. See the pictures below. My dog was a 4/1 natural casing pork and beef frank. Here it is served deep fried. I've had these types of dogs deep fried at other places and they were too salty for my taste. This one wasn't. It was served very hot. Tasty with a good texture and casing. Nice and juicy too. And filling. As good or better than any deep fried dog in my opinion. And that includes Rutts. Service was good. Cheerful, enthusiastic servers. Dicky's is also known for their Colombian food. Next time I'll have a chili dog. I saw one and it looked good. Plenty of chili. The bun is a nice size. A little big, but able to handle the toppings. I'll include their hot dog offerings in the comments. A nice little family run restaurant serving delicious hot dogs along with breakfast and Colombian food. Check out their menu online.

Ordered an Italian hotdog. Came as a footling hotdog in a pita bread with unknown garnishes. Nothing Italian about it.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Fun spot with awesome dogs and great vibes!…read more This place is such a cool restaurant/bar that feels like a local staple for sure. The staff is super friendly and know their way around the (very large) menu. Honestly, they have a hot dog or sausage combo for just about everyone. I let the bartender pick for me, and she nailed it. She chose an all-beef dog that was basically a Big Mac in hot dog form. I was skeptical at first, but wow this hit in all the right ways. Awesome presentation, even better flavor. I could've easily eaten three of these. I also tried the onion rings, the bartender warned me they were just "meh," and she wasn't wrong, lol. For round two, I went with an all-beef dog topped with pastrami this is basically a Reuben-style dog. Another win! Great flavor, great presentation. Overall, I'd totally recommend Destination Dogs if you're in the area. Just a heads up, if there's a game on, it gets loud. Like "can't-hear-your-friend-next-to-you" loud. But if that's your vibe, you'll love it.

So, you might be thinking to yourself, what could have possibly riled this guy up so much? Well, as you may have guessed by their name, DJ's sells this abomination they refer to as an "Italian hot dog." Now, on paper it sounds delicious: two dogs, sautéed peppers and onions, fried potatoes like Mom used to make before her accident, served up in a nice warm fluffy roll. Except it's not in a roll. It's in a large, dry, bread pocket. A bread pouch, if you will, similar to what they use to make calzones. In fact, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it was the bread they use for calzones. Wait, that's not how calzones are made at all. The pouch was entirely too big. Every bite was a tiny bit of hot dog then a mouthful of dough. There were hardly any peppers and onions, and you couldn't really apply condiments since it would just fill up the large cavity the ingredients were sitting in. It would have been a bowl of mush if I'd tried. For $15 absolutely not worth it. OH. It was $15 because I got the "combo," which was to come with a drink and fries. While I was waiting for my food, the lady at the register actually TALKED ME OUT OF getting my fries because "the Italian hot dog comes with potatoes in it." I was like, "Yeah, that makes sense." But then later I thought about it more and damn, I ripped myself off. I am so impressionable it's ridiculous. She just totally jedi-mindtricked me into turning something down that I paid for. The last complaint is a bit superficial, but the Italian hot dog itself just looks so freakin' dumb. If people walk by and point and laugh, just know they aren't laughing at you. They're laughing at the culinary atrocity in your hands.
