I don't quite remember when I first heard about Harry Winston... perhaps it was during the Gossip Girl era? Either way, I quickly learned that luxury and Harry Winston went hand-in-hand. My fiancé and I have been visiting various boutiques trying to narrow down our search for a wedding band. We've looked at custom jewelers, high-end stores, and everyone's favorite wholesale jeweler of course - Derco. The differences between the 3 categories are stark and I quickly learned what I liked and didn't like about each one. To visit Harry Winston, you'll need to make an appointment. It's fairly easy to do so online and they'll confirm it within 2 business days. We were expecting the environment to be stuffy given the name/branding, but all the staff were quite friendly. Shortly after our arrival, we were offered complimentary drinks and also a small box of chocolates to enjoy. Our sales associate, Owen, was never pushy and allowed us ample time to look at all the pieces and take photos. He brought out other suggestions and patiently explained the differences between each piece and any features that might be unique. I never felt pressured and thoroughly enjoyed my time at the salon. I'd highly recommend popping into HW even if you don't plan on making a purchase. You'll learn quite a bit about the different styles and at the very least, will see some really pretty gems. read more

I was looking for a ring for the roommate. After exploring a bunch of websites, I fell in love with one from Harry Winston. I initially went by on Wednesday, March 27th around 2:15pm to look at the ring. Unfortunately, they didn't have it in store. One of the sales executives, Tiffany Chin, was wonderful at helping me out. Explained the history of the band components and why they normally don't have it in stock. (Apparently I picked a popular ring.) Since I saw it at another location, I decided to go for it. Of course, I made the roommate swing by to get himself sized first. Afterwards, I made an appointment with Tiffany on Monday, April 8th at 3pm to purchase it. I got the Zalium Wedding Band: 18K white gold and Zalium band ($2,000). The site describes it as: "A sleek line of men's jewelry that perfectly blends sophistication with modern innovation, the Zalium Collection features a proprietary zirconium-based alloy that first debuted at Harry Winston as part of the House's innovative timepiece collections. The unique chemical properties of Zalium, including its lightness and extreme durability, make it the ideal material for use in high-performance design and engineering." I just wanted something simple and unique, so this fit the bill. Since I was getting it specially made, it would take 10 weeks. We weren't in a hurry, so that was fine with me. Luckily, I didn't have to wait 10 weeks as it was ready a little earlier. I made an appointment with Tiffany for Tuesday, May 28th at 2:30pm to pick it up. Since I always came by on my lunch breaks, every appointment was relatively fast. They always offered me a beverage and some sweets: S.Pellegrino sparkling water and Godiva chocolates. (Though I think I could have gotten some bubbly if I wanted it?) The ring itself was beautiful and nicely packaged. I was very happy with my choice. In terms of value, is Harry Winston the best? Not particularly. (I looked at some diamonds and was blown away by the pricing.) But for a unique wedding male band, it's not too bad. read more

***** Update 7-16-19 Picking up the Ring with a bar: Nora presented me with my husband's ring .5 a size smaller. I had my original receipt in hand and I asked her where to find the 3 month policy. She said it's not actually a "policy" and it's just a courtesy for the client. She said that it is not written anywhere. Again I reiterated that the issue is NOT the "AMOUNT" to be paid. But before I could go on much further, she quickly got up claiming " We want you to be happy." David the Manager was now the one to assist me. And the only fact that matters to me is : I was not informed of the 3 month sizing courtesy however my saleswoman wrote on my receipt "may come back for 0.5 size bar". So she wrote that on my receipt but couldn't tell me about the 3 months??? If I was told -- There would never be this problem about sizing because I would have made sure the ring fits WITHIN 3 months. PERIOD. David explains to me that the reason they charge $350 for resizing is because that's exactly how much it costs . And Harry Winston only makes money from SALES. With this statement-- That should mean their sales personnel SHOULD NOT ENCOURAGE MEN TO BUY 0.5 SIZE LARGER THAN THEIR SIZE (Like stated to me during the purchase) If sizing can potentially be a problem for a lot of male clients, if not properly informed. That is why in response to David's "We want you to be happy but if you think it's fair to not pay the $350 or $120 that we paid ourself then you can take the ring. Since we don't want to tarnish your wedding band." Not sure if his response was partly passive aggressive, mockery, sarcasm. I obviously don't care if it was any of it. But what I do know for sure is that with his TONE, it was not genuine. I didn't even get an acknowledgement that the sales woman did indeed fail to inform me of the 3 months courtesy. No accountability at all. "But if you think it's fair......" -- Im far from sensitive but was that turned around on ME? YES I ABSOLUTELY THINK IT IS FAIR NOT TO PAY - Because if they can't inform you of their 3 month "courtesy" during purchase.... WHY WOULD IT BE FAIR TO THE CUSTOMER TO PAY ANY FUCKING AMOUNT! World class jewelry. World class service. The store front is armed by like 4 security before you can even walk in. You must have an appt. You are then ushered into the private and luxurious world of Harry Winston. We sat in a private room, were served Perrier Jouet champagne in fine crystal stemware. No detail is left unnoticed. Baubles of the most exquisite kind were shown to us (for fun!). The sales person was far from a sales type. Zero pressure. You don't negotiate here. If you can afford it, you buy it. You will love you piece and stare at your jewelry everyday reminding yourself you're really glad you persevered on the hamster wheel of life, burning the midnight oil in your 20's and 30's to get to the point of being able to afford something so pretty and sparkly. ;) read more

We had a wonderful experience at Harry Winston. I brought my kids inside the store just to have a look at all the diamonds and super fancy jewelry we would not be able to purchase and even know that fact, the sales associate (she gave me her card) happily tell us all about Harry Winston and it's history and how each piece was made and why this is special and she let us try millions of dollars of jewelry. My kids had so much fun learning about jewelry and special hand made watches. We truly felt welcomed here and who knows maybe my kids will be your future clients. I've been holding off on posting this but because of overall experience I'm posting. Looking for Bait and Switch, come on in. Looking for a management team who doesn't listen to the customer about defective merchandise and only their staf, come on in. Finally after sending along email explains and describing luxury customer service they give me 24 hrs to ship my ring to what I thought was NYC, but that was a lie it was to the SF store. Sat there for one week before getting shipped to NYC, and it's been there since Feb 1 and still no feedback. Did this ring get shipped to NASA? Where is it? What I disclose testing are you doing? Can you explain where we're at? Maybe give the customer an update. Has Harry risen from the dead to examine this Want to buy what claims to be a luxury brand but doesn't provide luxury customer service, this is your place. Update as of 3/2019 - It took a fight but I finally got a full refund. It must've taken this review to get such. I created this account just to share my horrible story with everyone. I went to San Francisco for my 10 year wedding anniversary recently and while we were there we decided to get an "upgraded" wedding ring. We began talking to Matthew (who we later found out was the manager) and after my wife explained what we were looking for, Matthew sat us down and showed us a few pieces. We finally decided on the Classic Winston, Oval Shaped Ring with Tapered Baguette sides. She was in love with it. However, we wanted to look around and make sure there were not other retailers that might have a ring equally as beautiful (or more so). We asked Matthew if we could talk to the manager real fast, which is when he told us that he was the manager. We told him that we wanted to shop around for a bit but we really loved that ring. This is when a switch seemed to flip in Matthew. He didn't seem very happy with what we told him. He began to get extremely pushy to us, telling us that we should buy it now or it might not be here when we got back. He got extremely aggressive the more we insisted on coming back later after we shopped around. He mumbled something that sounded like he said we were wasting his time, and when I asked him what he said he denied saying anything. We couldn't believe how rude he got when we said we wanted to shop around to be sure there was nothing else out there. He got pushy, rude, and seemed like he didn't even want us there anymore. I would never recommend this store to anyone I know, and we certainly did not go back to get that ring despite how much my wife loved it. We were so heartbroken to leave San Francisco without that ring, and FYI, we did not find a better ring in the area. Matthew had the worst customer service I've ever seen from a high end jewelry store. Would not recommend!!!! read more
