We wanted to take a soak in the pool and couldn't find their hours of operation on the Harrison Public Pool website. Had to find any information on third party websites that gave different hours of operation. One said open Sat from 10am-3pm, and another said open from 9am-9pm. Decided at least that it was open on Sat so we took the trip and on the front door of the building found out that it wasn't open. Three other people arrived about the same time and were also disappointed to find out it was closed. Found out this info: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g154931-d5955059-r203844577-Harrison_Hot_Springs_Public_Pool-Harrison_Hot_Springs_British_Columbia.html

Rejuvenating mineral springs pool, lots of lockers, change stalls, and a shower facility. Even if u only experience it for 20 minutes it is a gr8 way to de-stress, unwind and just be mindful and in the minute. I cannot however, get my head ( or nose rather ) around that sulphur-like scent that permeates the hot spring pool. Security has improved since my last visit and prices remain cost - effective. In many hot spring spas, you can either pay to use the waters or, if you're up for a little spring hunting, go pinpoint the actual source and enjoy the waters for free. The Harrison Public Pool is a good example, although I've done it elsewhere. The public pool costs $10 CAD, is heavily chlorinated (as it must be), and a lukewarm 74 F because it's been piped from the true source some distance away. At the natural source you can enjoy the 140 F waters for free, where they issue from a fault along the mountain front, on public land. You can adjust your position in the pool to the actual temperature you prefer. The springs have a strong sulfur odor and some muck but that's what true hot springs are like. So if you're adventurous and want to enjoy the real thing, save your money. Walk along the municipal trail to the west of the downtown area, to where you see the pink Moorish looking structure, about a half mile distant. On the far side of the building you'll see a white plastic PVC pipe with the hot water blasting into a rocky pond.

    Lake side trails.

Family had a blast enjoying the hot springs water ... seems a little more geared to an older crowd... could use a little more cleaning

Aside from lap swimmers, the leisure side of the pool complex was a mix of preschool-aged kids and retirees soaking in the large jacuzzi. There is a shallow and large wading pool for kids to play, a lazy river with a quieter small pool in the center, and then a large hot tub. The jacuzzi and wading pools have a stairs as well as a gently sloped ramp for entry, which is an inclusive way of building a pool as well as fun for the kids. There are a few toys available (balls, pool noodles) and plenty of life jackets for the kids. There are a good number of lifeguards who seemed reasonable. I didn't use them, but there is also a steam room and a sauna. Large locker rooms have plenty of lockers, changing rooms, shower space, sinks, and toilets. Soap is provided but no other products (shampoo, lotion).

Terrific facility in the heart of Vancouver…read more Hillcrest Aquatic Centre is across the street from Queen Elizabeth Park. The facility has a large main pool that is sometimes partitioned to allow one end to offer laps and the other end to offer swimming lessons. Without the partition, you would have a full length pool. Adjacent to the main pool is a kid's pool with lots of ramps and stairs to allow entry into the water. The water is shallow enough to allow most kids to keep their heads above water. There are cannons and sprinklers for kids to interact with. Additionally, there is a section of the pool that has a gentle current that propels kids along in a large circular loop. The pool offers pool noodles and some toys for visitors. There is even a large hot-tub section next to the kid's pool for people to soak their aching joints. Also, there are diving boards of various heights, a steam room and an outdoor pool. What I like most about Hillcrest Aquatic Centre is that there are large changing rooms available for families with kids to change in. These same rooms can also be used by bashful types who don't like people staring at their twigs and berries. One complaint I have, however, is that the water coming out of the showers is way too hot! I have been scalded on several occasions! Essentially, Hillcrest Aquatic Centre has something for everyone.

I was in the steam room and two guys came in. One was 'training for a fight' and had to lose 5lbs in a day and made sure everyone in there knew about this. These guys started barking orders at people, and talking at people, that didn't want to be spoken to. I asked them to please be quiet in the steam room because the staff never did anything about it. At first I asked the lifeguards (3 different ones) to get a handle of the situation. They didn't. So when I asked these young men to please be quiet. I got an earful of insults. "why are you such a c.. " " you miserable human being" " when was the last time someone .... you good" "you must be depressed, you should just die" and the list goes on.. (the irony is I am clinically depressed, and this is not what I need at a community rec center) Not one single staff member or lifeguard took control of this. I left there.. more miserable than I did walking in. This is a facility for therapy, this is a facility for family and kids. This is a place for people to come and relax, and you know. rehabilitate.. it's what it's meant for. This is not a place for professional trainers to come to and start barking orders at other patrons to follow suit to his needs I am completely turned off at how the staff handled this, and that excessive talking and loud mouths are even ALLOWED to be acting like that in a steam room, or just act like that at the facility. I didn't come here to listen to your life problems. Not only that I was insulted over and over again until I had to remove myself from the situation. So I never got to do my physical therapy I am required to do right now for my shoulder. IF the guy was trying to lose 5 lbs in one way for a fight. This to me sounds like a personal problem, and someone didn't do their proper training. Instead we all got stressed out by this guy that wouldn't shut up about himself and his needs the entire time. He's probably not going to do well on that fight either. You can't lose 5 lbs in a steam room in one day. I might never come here again and take the longer journey to west van rec center just to avoid this awful experience/feeling and the fact that the staff doesn't do anything about this reckless behaviour.

Also, the folks at Bonsor can be awkward if you're a woman swimming alone. I've also tried Eileen Pool. Ultimately, I settled on this one because it's newer, more spacious, and forced me to get used to practicing in a pool where I can't touch the floor at all. After a few weeks of regular practice here, I'm no longer anxious when I cross the boundary between the shallow and deep ends (at other pools). As a bonus, I haven't had unsolicited creepy comments from anyone here - they seem to be generally respectful. They also have lockers that you don't need to pay for, nor do you need to bring your own lock. My chlorine sensitivity is usually not triggered by the levels at this pool either. They also have a leisure pool but I find it too warm to swim laps. The one thing to keep in mind is to check the timings when they're operating in a 50 m / 25 m configuration - and whether that overlaps with classes.
