Other reviews suggest bringing a flashlight, which we did, but it really wasn't all that necessary. There were 4 distinct tunnels through which to walk; one was very short. Only one was long enough to make the darkness of the tunnel feel a bit spooky. But the feeling passed as we continued walking. There's a large parking lot, with more than enough free parking for when we arrived on Thursday around noon. There are 4 toilets just adjacent to the parking lots, which is great because the location of the park is a bit remote. Would definitely recommend everyone making a trip!

We saw and admired three particular locations within the Park -- the forested park area, with main entrance at the corner of Wallace Street & Fourth Avenue - wonderful trees & other flora, birds, and squirrels, walking trails, and sitting benches & tables -- BC Spirit Square - a centrally-located, small plaza off Wallace Street, behind District Hall - with sitting benches, and dedication memorial 'In Memory of Our War Dead' -- and Friendship Garden - located off one side of District Hall, near Third Avenue - a small and pretty rock & pool garden, and to partially quote from signage: "built by local Japanese Canadians, commemorating the Japanese Canadians interned during World War II, and to demonstrate Japanese culture to the general public". Other areas of the Park include: a large children's playground, ball field, concert area, and smaller open field areas used for arts & crafts fairs, flea markets, and other such events. Memorial Park is a rather large, beautiful, and very well-maintained piece of green space, centrally-located within the downtown core of Hope. It's a wonderful spot for the locals to use, and offers much for the tourists to admire when visiting.

We accessed the lake in two ways - once directly to the lake via campground, and then the second time (drove around it) to the vista point where you can get a full view. Enjoy!

This water is unlike anything I have ever seen before - so green and clear and so unique to North Cascades. We just enjoyed the lake from the overlook, but we saw many more people also going down to the lake. If you don't have time to do much in North Cascades, taking the time to simply enjoy Diablo Lake is a must-stop and well-worth the time.

Some of the best campsites at this location are definitely the lake sides ones as these give you direct access to the lake without having to leave your site! However, it isn't too difficult to either walk to the lake or take a short drive out to the day use area if you have one of the inner sites. One of the big draws of this location was the lack of RV's which makes for an amazingly quiet and relaxing experience. The site also has strict rules about when you can run your generators which definitely helps as well. Many of the sites that we passed by where mainly tents with smaller camping trailers. There are also a variety of trails near by as well as access to some cool looking mountain biking courses. It is important to note that there are no shower facilities here or full bathrooms. However, all their porter potties/washrooms are actually fitted with flush toilets! They are also cleaned very frequently. Overall, this place is great for families and perfect for car camping enthusiasts that want a more peaceful and relaxing experience. Additional notes: The campsite is located just 5 or 10 minutes from Tulameen which means easy access food/supplies if you need a top off. Also if you need propane you'll need to go across the street from the town's general store - look for the motel, and call the posted number to get service. The owner lives pretty close by and can generally get there in 5 minutes or so of the call. They take debit/cash.

Cheam Lake Wetlands is a 100 hectare park that is a great place to view birds, dragonflies, frogs…read moreand other wetland critters. What's really great is that there is no dog walking, fishing or boating allowed, so you it is definitely well preserved. The park is a great example of successful habitat restoration. During the 1950s the lake was drained and the marl was mined from the bottom sediments. Since 1992, a fish ladder was built to reflood the lake. Every year more of the natural habitat is being restore to the area. The new dock and wildlife viewing platform is a bonus. An easy 5k walk around the lake is a great way of spotting this new habitat. Every season is different.

A quick stop off the highway for a picnic or for some sensational photos…read more The trail is all uphill for about 15 minutes. Once you take the trail to the base of the falls, there is a sign that warns about going up to the top. It is absolutely very slippery. We were there in July and it was very dry and slippery. Lots of people were struggling to get up to get good pics. The falls are breathtaking indeed. Mother Nature did a good job. Beware...It's even more difficult getting back down. If you don't have the right shoes or if you don't have someone to help you, it could be very scary. Lots of parking and picnic tables.

Some views of the Park, and the Fraser River taken during a 2-night stay in Hope last week…read more The Park runs along a portion of Water Street, adjacent the Fraser River, and offers a small lookout spot to catch some spectacular views of the River. The River was running 'high & wide' at this time. The lovely weather during our stay, and the Park's setting, sure provided us with some wonderful viewings during our stay.

The Park is located at the far eastern end of Harrison, with Harrison Lake access and views on one side, and apartments lining the other side. Walking access to the Park is via a small entranceway at the end of Esplanade Avenue, or another entranceway at the opposite end of the Park, off Rockwell Drive. The Park is a day use area, with a number of picnic tables, and an area of the Lake is 'fenced off' (w/floats) for swimming. The walk though, and around provided our first up-close look at this area of Harrison since the nearby cottage/cabin type hotel had been removed, and other apartments, and such built on nearby properties. For us, it was good to see the park area had been spared from any further construction, and left as a park.
