She checked in with management at the time, and I was given an email address and directed to send an email to another department. I did exactly that, but the response I received was generic and unhelpful. It left me feeling unseen and brushed aside. A manager later mentioned that she had initially offered me 4 weeks off, but that I had never accepted the offer. Which seemed odd...since you don't need someone's permission to give someone something free or to do something kind. Second, I personally have no solid recollection of such an offering. Definitely feels like something I would have remembered and would have accepted. But to be honest, when she offered it to me again later on, it just felt like a slap in the face at that point, considering all the other issues present with GoodLife. Not to mention...I needed assistance FAR greater than just a month, which felt like another slap in the face (essentially offering someone a bandaid for a gushing canon-ball wound...Oh 4 weeks...Thanks, i guess?). Not long after (3-4 weeks later), I noticed that GoodLife hired four new staff members -- a reminder that while resources were available for expansion, there was apparently nothing substantial to offer a loyal member going through a difficult time. It stung. They also knew that I was unemployed, but failed to extend a helpful offering of employment (or even give me a heads up that they were hiring, so I could apply the normal route, like everyone else). That stung even more. Nonetheless, I still chose to stay positive. A couple months go by and I decided to share with management a number of thoughtful ideas to help improve the facility, including specific areas that could have used a quick clean (nothing major by any means, but still noticeable). I was told thank you, and that they'd look into those dirty areas. Anddd...another month goes by...anddd, those same dirty spots remain untouched to this day. Pffff, wild. Don't lie to me, and tell me, " we will address the cleanliness concerns you have brought to our attention." ...then not do anything. Lastly...having recently restarted my new social media presence on instagram, I decided I would tag GoodLife.Abbotsford, hoping it would be reshared on their Instagram Story...but nope. No acknowledgment, no thank you, no reshare... just the same three people they reshare on the social media every day. (One photo I tagged them in might have been deemed spicy, so I can understand that one not being shared for safety, but otherwise...all the countless others were not...they were just being cruel and dishing out more neglect and reject). At this point, I've been stretched thin again -- financially, mentally, and emotionally. Club 16 is right across the street, offering a VIP membership that's half the cost of GoodLife's, and it includes amenities GoodLife doesn't have (including infrared sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage, etc.). So I have to ask myself -- what exactly is holding me back from switching? Loyalty can only go so far when it isn't met with any compassion, gratitude, or basic follow-through. At this point...I'm made to feel like GoodLife doesn't truly care about its members...they're just numbers. Ps, despite us just being numbers to them, they at the same time oddly don't care about financial numbers or profitability...cause they also tend to be over-staffed during the day, yet despite being overstaffed...oddly hard to find sometimes when a member needs something. Labour costs must be through the roof. Pps, ...and...their IN-HOUSE cleaner is spiritually toxic, comes at you during a new moon and latches onto your spirit, or tries to give you bad advice or in-still fear in you (likely why he went from working 5 days a week to 2...he's very inefficient)

After the weekend I went back with the intent of just paying the monthly fee, not accepting the free month for a direct debit deal. Low and behold, you must give them your banking information even if pay month to month!?! No thanks! And I am NOT a "Lazy Drunk" for wanting my money back?

This club is great, if you don't ever plan on moving. If you might move at some point, read on…read more What a nightmare trying to cancel my membership after I moved to a location that didn't have a facility. For clarity, I signed up in Abbotsford, moved to Kingston, ON which has a club, but then moved to Calgary, AB which doesn't have a club. It has been months of being given the run around, and having my cancellation letter and emails to Abbotsford ignored. Despite the Kingston staff saying I had to cancel through my "home" club, Abbotsford decided I needed to cancel through Kingston. Which I would have done but Kingston wouldn't process it. Even after I sent the sent registered mail on my dime as requested, the company continued to take 4 months of dues from my bank account. This is because Abbotsford ignored my registered letter instead of doing the "reasonable" thing and looking into it or passing it along to Kingston. Further, the staff members at both clubs were horrible to deal with, saying this was on me, neither of them ever apologizing for the confusion. In fact, they refused to refund me the dues they took after I sent in my cancellation letter, and said they were doing me a favour by cancelling my membership over the phone, which is against their policy. What a disgusting attitude to take with me when I was doing what the Kingston staff told me to do.

2369 McCallum Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 3N7…read more I am frustrated, sick, and tired of dealing with this issue. In October 2019, I badly damaged my ankle and was on a hospital bed in my living room until February 2020 because I was not allowed any weight-bearing. I contacted you and asked that my membership be canceled. This was not done. Then as of March 2020, we faced COVID-19, and again I was unable to take advantage of my membership. I was under the belief that my membership had been canceled per my request in October 2019. Since that time, I have frequently contacted the club in Abbotsford asking for the membership to be canceled and for a refund of all dues charged to me since October 2019. I am a 70-year-old senior on a limited income and cannot ford $30/month PLUS an annual fee for something that I can no longer do. It makes no sense. Living alone, as an immune-compromised person, I am allowed 2 people in my bubble. My groceries are delivered. My medication is delivered. My specialist appointments are via video chat or telephone call. Yet, you require me to come in person to cancel my membership... or to go out to a post office to send you a registered letter. You will not accept an email that would have a handwritten signature. No concession has been made for members to cancel in any other manner due to the unprecedented COVID-19 restrictions. This is absolutely ridiculous! Other businesses have gone out of their way to accommodate their clients and perpetuate positive customer relations. I realize times are hard for local businesses due to the restrictions, but if you depend on my money to keep you going, you should not be in business at all. The last time I called, I was told I could not speak to the manager, but a hold was placed on my membership. This month, again, I have been charged. Your members sign in with their keys to access the gym. Please review my activity since October 2019 and you will see that I have not been in attendance. Please cancel my membership, refund all you have taken from me and confirm this has been done. I understand that legally you can continue to charge my membership until I die. However, I would hope you have morals and integrity. Thank you, Caroline Davis.
