I've shown up a few times now and they've been closed, despite google saying they are open. A friend has called them in the morning and has been told they are open, only to be closed when we get there. They shut the pool down for weeks for "renovations" which from what I can see was repainting some of the walls and replacing a toilet in the women's washroom (the men's washroom still has a broken shower that is on constantly). It is obvious they did not pressure wash the pool itself so I don't know what weeks of renovations included. The resort should give up the pool to the town.

The lane swimming is pretty organized - you register for a one hour slot, which you can do for the upcoming week. Spots don't seem to fill up that quickly, which is nice - you don't need to wait by your computer. They only have fast and slow lanes though and I think people's interpretations of these are vastly different. Hot tub sometimes seems to be open but sauna is not. Overall a pool that I am grateful to have during these times.

The second day of lessons, the website change to say they were full occupancy and normal operations. Full classes. Unvaccinated children sitting or standing shoulder to shoulder, and class "cheers" where children all chant while huddled together. Their website was updated to say chlorine off-gassing in the air will kill covid-19 aerosols -- no source or verified science given behind that hopeful thinking. Supposedly this happens every year, yet the earliest email they sent about this closure was ONLY 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE CLOSURE. They offered no immeditae compensation or solution for consumers, unless they went out of your way to call them. They directly lied on the phone saying email notification was given much earlier than 3 days prior, yet refused to provide a date or further information on these supposed notifications... they offered 20% bonus days as compensation for taking away 66% of the services.... They falsely claim that they have no obligation to provide 100% services due to their terms of service, that is not true... this bait and switch is fraud and not permitted in Canada. Please report them to Consumer Protection BC... You cannot offer a monthly service then simply take away 66% of it because your terms say "availability of services may vary"

There's something for everyone and it's also super affordable. Small, but decent fitness center that has everything you need. Great and frequent fitness classes. Awesome swimming pool with hot tub, steam room, kids pool, etc. And an ice skating rink and hockey area. There's also a playground nearby. And squash courts. There's so much to do and everything is so clean and in good shape. And the staff are really nice as well.

We had wished to do this for quite some time, after hearing so many good things about this facility and its offerings, from fellow visitors to Hope over the past few stays, and finally grabbed the opportunity to do so. During our brief self-tour, we were able to catch a decent look at most of the facilities -- fitness rooms, pools & area, and except for the library (which was not to be open until 10 am), saw a little of everything we had wanted to see. I would have liked to have taken photos, but was advised not to, as guests were there - especially with classes, and other individuals within the pool areas - photos at such times were not allowed. The staff person was very courteous, and advised us that if we returned very early the next morning, when only the Centre's fitness rooms were open, we would be able to go into the pool area to take photos (an appreciated, and helpful heads-up, but we did not have the opportunity to check back at that time). We really liked what we saw at the 'Recreation Centre' -- for us, the pool area was especially nice - large and bright (with much natural light, along with the indoor lighting) - it offered large swimming pools, and several, small, hot-tub or jacuzzi types, plus, several rather nice areas to sit between one's pool activities, and such. The fitness rooms looked well-equipped, though our looks were very brief. We forgot, at that time, to inquire at the desk about their rates for visitors, but suspect we will be prepared to do so when back in Hope for our next stay. If short-term visitor rates are available, and 'ok' with us, and we are able to find some 'non-class' times to be able to use the facilities -- from what we saw, I believe we would sure like to give the pools a try -- for us, that was the area that sure looked most inviting!

The parking lot is quite full. There were many classes going on when we were there for an event. Signages are more pictorial rather than in words. There is a swimming pool and gym facilities besides the classes like dance and taekwondo.

Also, the folks at Bonsor can be awkward if you're a woman swimming alone. I've also tried Eileen Pool. Ultimately, I settled on this one because it's newer, more spacious, and forced me to get used to practicing in a pool where I can't touch the floor at all. After a few weeks of regular practice here, I'm no longer anxious when I cross the boundary between the shallow and deep ends (at other pools). As a bonus, I haven't had unsolicited creepy comments from anyone here - they seem to be generally respectful. They also have lockers that you don't need to pay for, nor do you need to bring your own lock. My chlorine sensitivity is usually not triggered by the levels at this pool either. They also have a leisure pool but I find it too warm to swim laps. The one thing to keep in mind is to check the timings when they're operating in a 50 m / 25 m configuration - and whether that overlaps with classes.
