First time trying it and did really well even from the start. Some find it easy some find it a bit tough at first (like my partner) but eventually you get a hang of it pretty fast. The underhand throw was extremely difficult though. My partner got a few times at the end but I gave up. Fun to test your aim skills and strength. It the ax does seem to go in and stick to the wood (just falls right off even though it seems like it should go in) try spray water (wood might be too dry) especially with Covid the usually have the doors open. If it bounces off, that just means you might have to adjust yourself (usually step a step backwards but it depends). Would definitely come back and highly recommend!!

This is a great date idea or even a good destination for hanging out with buddies. The lane behind us was having a party where younger kids were there, so I don't believe it's 21+. They provide multiple types of throwing instruments which were decently sharp. The smaller axes and throwing knives were made by Smith & Wesson - so you feel like more of a bad @ss throwing them - and they were fun to throw. They also allowed me to perfect my form for throwing the larger axes, which was my favorite instrument. The staff provided guidance for throwing since it was our first time. They were also available throughout our session for follow-up questions and guidance on throwing which was very helpful. One of the best parts is the smell. As you enter, you're immediately hit with the smell of freshly chopped wood which is awesome. The decor is also very inviting with tons of pictures of happy axe-throwing customers lining the walls. There's a separate bar upstairs with interesting games to play and canned/bottled alcoholic beverages, hopefully for after you're done throwing axes!

I think one of the other ones was a bachelor party as one guy was dressed in a Xena Warrior princess costume. Well I hope it was a bachelor party.. LOL We got to throw for about 1.5 hours as we had 8 people. You do have to sign an online waiver form and due to the high number of people there, I think the system almost crashed as it would not let us submit the form as it would just spin. They let us fill out the form and then they took a snapshot of the page, showing us signing since it wasn't going through to the confirmation page. After though, I got 5 confirmation emails. We played in teams and did a few different games. Let's just say that we tried some odd ways to throw the axes. Of course, we had to make sure that we were allowed to throw the axe that way, to ensure safety. It was fun but was a little hard to find the place as it is in an industrial area.

Yes, it is dusty traveling the last mile there and the campground has lots of gravel, but there is a sweetness, and heart-felt friendliness that overwhelms a little dust acquired coming and going.

We discovered Cheam campground this weekend and we are so happy we did. Right from the start, from…read morethe first phone call, Jamie the host was super helpful and really, really nice. She accommodated us fast, answered to all our questions and was always there when needed, without being too intrusive as we experienced in other campgrounds. The site we got was right by the water, where we could fish, and enjoy the beautiful view. There were mosquitoes around, due to the high levels of the Fraser, but managed to keep them away with smoke, insect repellent spray and citronella candles. The campground has nice spacious sites, water and electricity hook ups and everyone kept it quiet and respectful. There are train tracks across the river, and trains are passing throughout the day, but is far enough to not be too loud and just give a nice picturesque touch. We already booked to go back in a couple of weeks.

After breakfast in Mission, a stop into the Chehalis River Salmonid Enhancement Facility was made…read moreon the way to Harrison Hot Springs recently. Ii is a favourite place to stop for us, and this time, although a touch early 'season-wise' for most returning salmonids, I anticipated seeing at least a few adult fish in the river, and returning to the facility. Our visit was rewarded with such sights - there were several adults in the stream 'and' attempting to make their way into holding structures within the facility available to them at that time. I knew we were a touch early to see many returning adult fish to the facility, but that said, we did get some good views of several fish within the stream, and some very up close & personal views of a few fish that had been able to get into the facility earlier, and their jumping attempts at entrance gates to a couple of holding ponds. For us, very cool to see, and it sure added some excitement to our stop into the facility this time! As usual when there, we did a complete (self-guided) walkabout of the entire grounds, catching all the sights and sounds along the way. And for the first time, we dropped into the main building - it houses most of the inside operational facilities, staff offices, and such - the foyer, is open to the public, and contains informational bulletin boards, signage, displays, and brochures of interest to visitors to the facility. Once again, our favourite stop-along-the-way to Harrison was fun and interesting, along with some exciting "fish moments".

The spawning channel provides a stable flow of clean water for the salmon eggs and alevins in the gravel.

Cheam Lake Wetlands is a 100 hectare park that is a great place to view birds, dragonflies, frogs…read moreand other wetland critters. What's really great is that there is no dog walking, fishing or boating allowed, so you it is definitely well preserved. The park is a great example of successful habitat restoration. During the 1950s the lake was drained and the marl was mined from the bottom sediments. Since 1992, a fish ladder was built to reflood the lake. Every year more of the natural habitat is being restore to the area. The new dock and wildlife viewing platform is a bonus. An easy 5k walk around the lake is a great way of spotting this new habitat. Every season is different.

Other reviews suggest bringing a flashlight, which we did, but it really wasn't all that necessary. There were 4 distinct tunnels through which to walk; one was very short. Only one was long enough to make the darkness of the tunnel feel a bit spooky. But the feeling passed as we continued walking. There's a large parking lot, with more than enough free parking for when we arrived on Thursday around noon. There are 4 toilets just adjacent to the parking lots, which is great because the location of the park is a bit remote. Would definitely recommend everyone making a trip!
