After researching a few different options, we went with Harrison Fence because: 1) They responded first 2) The onsite visit was efficient and informative; our sales rep Adam explained in great detail exactly what the installation would involve 3) The prompt estimate and schematics that were an essential part of the package we were required to submit to the HOA for approval; having installed other fences in our development, HF was familiar with what our HOA needed 4) Most importantly, the price was the lowest of the 3 possible options we were considering. HF was patient enough to let us complete all site visits and not pressuring us to make a decision. The response was "wood is a natural product" until them became so large they agreed to replace. I would not recommend Harrison Fence. They replaced a fence that I had for 20+ years. 4 years after their work I am already needing to replace sections of the fence due to poor material and workmanship. When I called them to come assess the situation they told me there would be a charge to come look at it. When I told them I did not think that was good business they agreed to send someone over at a set date/time at no charge. I waited around for several hours for someone to come by for that appointment but they were a no show and no call. I reached back out to them to reschedule and the representative was apologetic and said they would come back out and would take special consideration when proposing a quote for repair. When I finally received the quote I was blown away by the high cost for the repair. Even though I was not pleased with having to do significant repairs to a fence I had them build 4 years ago I was willing to pay a fair price to have the work redone but their quote was ridiculous. In my opinion they provide sub par work, don't use quality materials, and don't stand behind their work while charging premium prices. In addition when they initially installed the fence my ring camera caught one of the installers urinating ON my house. read more

Getting a hold of someone from Harrison Fence is harder than getting Taylor Swift Era's tour tickets. I was very excited to have Harrison fence come work on my fence. Their salesmen, Daniel, was fabulous and did a great job selling their product. However, that seems to be the extent of what was great about this company, and he promised things that were not delivered. The installation date was weeks past what they quoted me. Which would have been fine if anyone from the office communicated this. Then, when tearing down my fence, they cut the gas line, internet line, and cable line - ALL of which were marked and were cut due to carelessness. I ended up going 3 days without cable/internet and 4 days without hot water due to this. What was frustrating is Harrison Fence denies this despite Dominion Energy and Spectrum coming out and filing incident reports stating they were marked and cut. I also had to call a plumber to come out to repair the cut gas line before Dominion Energy would come back out to turn my gas back on. Not only am I severely inconvenienced by Harrison Fence, but I am also out a couple hundred dollars for repair men to come to my house due to their mistakes - which they are refusing to pay for. Then for the cherry on top, one of their workers broke an attachment to my lamp pole by leaning on it. They did fix it, but they fixed it with tape, and it is not the same. Normally I wouldn't mind since this was obviously an accident, however after everything else Harrison fence has done, this is just another thing to the list. After the fence was installed, they left huge chunks of concrete and wood that they said they would remove but didn't. they also broke my decorative pieces in the yard. Did they tell me? Absolutely not. They just left them thrown about for me to find. And finally, I paid extra for them to spread the dirt to fill the holes on the bottom of the fence, however they did not do this as evident in the photos posted below. I wish I could give Harrison fence a -1 star review. Once they get your payment, it is impossibly hard to get ahold of them. The quality of the work is not up to par for what you pay for. We had a fence installed around our property at the end of January / beginning of February. Several of the 4x4 post, including those with the gates and hinges, have significant cracks and splits in the wood. Deep and wide enough to push a quarter into. One gate is off balance and does not close flush. When we called to have it repaired or replaced we were told they would not repair or replace it. They stated the quality of the wood they get is no longer what they used to get and were referred to go to Hone Depot to fix it ourselves. I'm so disappointed with Harrison Fence. The fence is installed over a year ago and there's issues with the gate closing and places we could see it was just a rushed job. What's more disappointing is that we've been trying to schedule a time for them to come out and stain our fence. Although we've signed a contract my husband and I have tried several times to schedule a time for them to come out and finish the job. I like the fence. Long delay between signing K and installation (about three months), due first to COVID related materials delays and then weather. Harrison communicated with me about the delays, returned my calls and were responsive. At first, I was five star happy with the installation. The crew kept the mess on our side of the property line and were able to fill in a gap between the fence and the retaining wall where our dog could have squeezed through with a creative insert that looks nice and seems sturdy. Problems came this week when the irrigation company came to update our system for our new landscaping. The installation of the fence broke our irrigation lines in three different places. Irrigation crew said that at least one of the breaks should have been obvious to the fencing crew, but no one said anything to me. In short, the fence looks good. The crews were courteous, showed up when they said they would and, over all, cleaned up after themselves. The contract I signed said that Harrison is not responsible for any damage. I just didn't expect that there would be any damage. Final rating 3 stars due to headaches and expense related to sprinkler system damage. read more

FIRST, My fence is gorgeous and was installed professionally, promptly and by people who knew what they were doing and who were also incredibly respectful of my time and my neighbor's convenience. I have only one small complaint, and they acknowledged the miscommunication when I addressed it with them. We had already paid our deposit and we got a call looking for that deposit weeks later. I don't think the mark of a great company is perfection. I think it is acknowledging mistakes and moving forward to correct them in the future. Four years ago we had our fence done (good job). Now, it has become weak and the pole stands have cracked. I reached out to them so they can asses the damage and eventually repair (at a fair price). They asked to email pictures. Two weeks later, no one contacted us. I called again, and said that in fact they did receive our case but "the guy" in charge was super busy and would call when available. A week later, with no response whatsoever, I called again to follow-up on the case, and they did, in fact, put me in touch with "the guy" right away. He said he would stop by sometime, but I requested a specific time to be present. Moved stuff around to be home by our appointment time. An hour later than the appointment time, no one shows up. Called them and offered to reschedule, with no care at all. If I hadn't called, no one would have reached out. Since the very first call, I've felt like I've been begging for their business. No one has followed up, or even cared. When I mentioned I didn't want to reschedule anymore, they didn't even apologize, or try to make it right. Amazing. I don't understand how a business can make it when they have zero interest in customers. Our backyard fence looks great, but I had several communication issues with this company. It took a week of calling and leaving voicemails to get on their schedule, when their outgoing message states that your call will be returned within one business day. Our installation was delayed because of a week or two of heavy rains. That's understandable, but it took weeks and several unanswered messages to find out a reschedule date. At the end of our 2-day installation, the huge pile of red clay that had been dug up for the fence posts was just left on our patio. It was never mentioned or discussed that they would not be removing the dirt. We were never asked or quoted an additional charge for its removal. None of our neighbors that used this company had this problem. The person I spoke with claims that they do not do dirt removal without charge or putting in the contract, however this is not the experience that my neighbors had. I have to say I am very disappointed in this company. I understand the delays in product due to COVID, but that does not excuse the lack of communication from the office. Phone calls are not returned and if you can even get a live person to answer the phone you are extremely lucky. Even when talking to a live person who insists you will get a call back you don't. Delays in installation and product are not communicated. The fence they finally installed was good and sturdy and for the most part was installed well. However, there are random nails that don't hold anything and just stick out where you can poke yourself on them, or my dog could get hurt on them. The fencing material was not stapled to the boards as it should have been so it is loose in many spots. The wire part is above the top rail in some areas. My gate is already sagging and doesn't open as it should. This fence is two months old. This should not be happening. Furthermore, some of the workers had no respect for my property. They trampled my hose and left it covered in mud after they used it. They crushed my drain pipe from the garage downspout by walking on it.There were multiple nails left on the ground. They never got back in touch with me when I needed to change my install time that they changed. The week they changes my schedule time I had to fly to NY to move my daughter into her dorm. No one from the company ever followed up with me and no one ever answered the phone. Guess what? My daughter had to move into her dorm without her mother. Thank her their kids didn't have to move into their dorms without their parents. Three pieces were left off of the truck. Workers waited (and wasted my time) from 11am until 3:30pm for the other pieces of the fence to arrive. Harrison fence told me I didn't have to wait around. Incompetent workers did math incorrectly the n a change order and wanted me to pay a $215 different that I had no knowledge of. I contacted Harrison Fence on May 15. I told them I would like my gate changed out to a 5 ft gate as the 4 ft gate is not wide enough. I sent a photo as they requested. They said it can't be done. I sent other photos and spoke to Jen who is the office manager. I called several times and have sent emails to the company. I finally got a quote for the replacement gate. I have called and left messages. The voice mail states they will get back within 24 hours. It has now been 3 weeks and no one has called or sent me an email text. We used Harrison fence to install a 6 foot tall white vinyl privacy fence in our yard. We were extremely satisfied with the process from start to finish. It was fairly painless to get someone out to give us a quote and then get on the schedule. The workers arrived on time and did a great job. Once complete they cleaned up the yard and we are happy with the workmanship on the fence. We have two very small dogs and were worried about gaps between the bottom of the fence and the ground, but the guys did a great job with that as well. It's a fencing company's job to build a quality fence to the customer's specifications. I can't comment too much on the first part since we had the fence for just a couple years, but so far, so good on that part except for a few missing screws. However, Harrison Fence failed miserably to build it to our specifications - namely, where to put it. We provided a survey and had property markers, and they built a portion of our fence 3 feet into our neighbor's yard on one side and half a foot on the other side. Our fence and both our neighbors' fences were all built by Harrison Fence, and all of them were built in the incorrect location. Harrison never warned us or asked us about it, they just built right in someone else's property. In my neighborhood, the HoA requires that fences go to the property line, which is what the neighbors certainly asked Harrison Fence to do, and they failed to deliver. Now we are trying to sell our house and have to deal with encroachment issues, filing fees, the whole works. I have gone back and forth over email with Shauna Harrison (who seems to be active here replying to 1 star reviews like mine), and she refuses to pay any of the fees we are incurring ($602 for two separate encroachments). I at first respectfully requested she pay the full sum of fees, and she refused a couple times. I then offered to pay one encroachment fee if Harrison Fence would extend a gesture of goodwill to pay for the other $301 encroachment. She refused. The contract you sign with Harrison Fence has a clause on the back that says "The Customer agrees to release Harrison Fence from any liability resulting from the erection of the fence on incorrect lines" which I initially believed, due to the context of that part of the contract and an email we received during the install, meant that only applied if you didn't provide a survey and just told Harrison where to build the fence yourself. Apparently though, Harrison Fence does not, under any circumstance, guarantee they will build your fence in the correct location. It is literally jaw dropping to me that they won't guarantee that half of their whole job is done correctly. I can't imagine telling my employer that I can't guarantee that a major part of my job will be done correctly. I honestly didn't expect much when I contacted Harrison Fence to correct this. Our Realtor informed us that this is pretty common and fencing companies usually don't have the integrity to make things right, so it was really just a disappointment to see that Harrison Fence was no different. If you are reading this and still considering Harrison Fence for some reason, I would find the line in the contract I mentioned above, cross it out, and initial it. If they refuse to do the work because you altered the contract, I would inform them they should probably learn to do their work correctly. I offered Shauna multiple opportunities to make this right and she refused all of them, only ever offering to send someone out to remove the encroachments at cost to myself, then saying "we stand behind our work." I can assure you, Harrison Fence does not stand behind their work. Look elsewhere. Edit: Nothing above this line is edited, that's all my original review. I am adding this part to address Shauna's response below. She claims our fence attached to our neighbors', which is not true (nor do I have the legal ability to ask you to build on someone else's property. If, based on the survey and land markers provided you would need to build on property that I did not own, you should've, as per the contract I signed, told me. And you didn't.). The estimator at Harrison Fence told us when we got our estimate that Harrison Fence does not physically attach neighboring fences. Secondly, you never mentioned sending anyone out for free to fix any part of our fence, you merely stated that you'd be happy to have someone meet me at the property (which I *did* mention in my review), but as you said, that wasn't a solution. Again, you put a WHOLE POST in one neighbor's property, not just overhang. I think it's very telling that you didn't mention in your rebuttal how your company built that neighbor's fence 3 feet from the property line - how did you plan to resolve that? Is that one of the industry standards that you claim your company follows? How did you plan to fix the other neighbor's fence (which you also constructed) that was built nearly a foot from the property line? Tearing down your poor work is not a solution. Your company built THREE fences incorrectly and this review reflects that. The only fix for that was for you to pay for the the mistake, file the encroachments with the county, and be done - but you didn't have the integrity to do it. You should've built them all correctly in the first place, and if you want a good Yelp review, maybe earn it by building your fences correctly. read more

The entire process went very well; the fence looks beautiful. We have small dogs, and they were careful to run the fence close to the ground in all areas. One minor thing: We thought we had some wiggle room from the original marker flags (about a foot toward the woods), but the crew said if they weren't right on the flags, they might not have enough materials. But that's minor--I HIGHLY recommend Harrison (and now would not change the fence one bit). Very professional; fantastic work! I tried to get a fence so I could get a dog. I called Harrison Fence because they have a good rep. In two weeks someone came to measure. Then they sent me diagram of the planned fence that was wrong. I pointed that out to them and I didn't hear back. I kept trying to email and phone communicate with them for five more months. Finally, they apologized by phone and made promises they sent somebody to re-measure. Haven't heard back for three weeks and now don't expect to. This has been a huge waste of my time. Run from these guys. They were referred to my by my builder, and I've seen some of their work. First impression was pretty good. Someone came out and measured. That's where the good ended. Essentially, they do not do custom work. They say they do, but my experience was different. I wanted something just a little nicer than the typical fence you can get from a big-box store. I was dealing with people who had the same last name as the name of the company, but I have no idea if they were owners. They would disapear from a conversation for days (sometimes a week) at a time. Nothing - just no reply. We would be in the middle of an email conversation about wood type, and then they would drop off - go dark. Just when I was about to give up, they'd reappear. I kept thinking I had so much time invested I would see the project through. When we finally got the final specs figured out, they said - "We will send you the final quote (I had just been give one, so I'm not sure why another) tomorrow. Once you sign it, we will start the process of getting a permit." Tomorrow came and went. So did the next several days. I couldn't decide whether or not to start over or push on. So, I reached out with a final email attempt - copying other people who's email addresses I'd found along the way. One person (also with the same name of the company) said, "We should have turned you away day one. I'm sorry you aren't trying to buy a product we sell." I would have been happy to know, at any time during the process, that these folks didn't want or like my business and I was trying to "buy something they don't sell." They claimed they do custom work, and all I wanted was a very basic design with a slight improvement in the wood type. Lesson learned. My town home HOA hired them to replace the existing patio fences, and I lost approximately 9 square feet of yard. The portion that separates me from my neighbor now encroaches 8 inches into my yard (the old fence was flush with the building before). They said they couldn't build it flush, that it wasn't possible. Again, it was flush before. The problem was that they didn't look at the old fencing and plan to replace it as before, and just sent a team out, and started building, doing it the easiest way possible. Disclosure: I did text the work manager and said just go ahead and finish. My blood pressure and stress levels couldn't deal with anything else, as I had just unexpectedly replaced my HVAC system, returned from a business trip, and had a heavy workload. I complained and they sent someone out to shave a little wood off the gate and left. It has only been about 10 months and the gate is almost not able to be used. They did the fence and did a really nice job , about two a half years now they came back and added another section a few months later and I told them the gate latches get stuck a lot can they check . Honestly that side of the fence we barely use . Well we tried to get out of the fence the other day and we couldn't . So my daughter called . Then I called and asked what's up ? Just fix it , like thousands of dollars later . They commented we are out of warranty , did I ask for anything for free but I did ask for a phone call from the owner twice (nicely ) . Buyer beware of the bait and switch. Their sales force over promises and the company under delivers. We were promised by the sales team an installation date the same day as our neighbors. We were assured that because we were purchasing a fence that is always in stock and the crew would be here anyway so it would be no trouble at all for the installation to be scheduled for the same day. We were then given an official install date a month later and when we called to question were told there is "nothing they can do" and the salesperson does not have the ability to book the install and should not have promised us anything. Our neighbor recommended Harrison to us. We have been working with Harrison Fence for a couple months now from the bid to the install it has been nothing short of exceptional service. The gentleman that came out to give us the bid Jeff was very knowledgeable. He walked us through everything. We initially wanted a chain link, but where we had the fence put in was not just a flat terrain so he suggested the wood and it was a bit less, so that was a nice surprise and it worked well with our yard and porches. Dealing with the ladies in the office has always been pleasant and professional. Our fence had to be put off for a week because of weather and very understandable. They left the old fence in my FRONT yard for a week and even then I had to call several times to have them come pick it up. The quality of the fence was adequate but the customer service was extremely poor given the amount of money paid. The company did not show up for 3 scheduled appointment times for fence installation. Two of the times, they didn't even bother to call to say they weren't showing up. The first time after they didn't show up, it took someone 3 days to return my phone calls or emails to reschedule. They are also extremely behind and it took over 3 months to get my fence installed. I have never had to call or email any company so many times to have them perform a service.
