I've been disappointed with the Murray's cheese department on multiple visits. Each time I've come in, they've been out of the cheeses I'm looking for, which happens occasionally--but what's more frustrating is the customer service. The staff often seem distracted or engaged in conversations with other customers or coworkers, and when I do get help, the interactions feel rushed and short. Questions are answered quickly and without much explanation, and it gives the impression that helping me is an inconvenience. I expect a specialty cheese counter to be knowledgeable and attentive, especially when items are out of stock, but that hasn't been my experience here. I don't mind substitutions or recommendations--I just want to feel acknowledged and helped. Hopefully this is something that can improve, because I usually enjoy shopping at this Hariss Teeter and would like to have a better experience in the future. If you want it even more neutral, more blunt, or slightly more spicy-but-still-realistic, say the word and I'll tweak the tone. read more

Was surprised no one has reviewed this very busy and not completely new Harris Teeter Store. It was my first time visiting. With one purpose in mind of purchasing flowers I headed in the door and found them directly ahead. Wow on an amazing selection of flowers that was full of so many selections. The staff person was friendly and said they just got a truck this morning. I utilized self checkout, but a staffer was right beside me and we conversed. She was very sweet. Produce is often molded or overripe often even out of stock. Deli has no customer service. Meat is full and fresh but don't shop at night because there's usually only one person and they are cleaning. Floral is the freshest out of any other store in the area. My wife has stage four lung cancer and I tried to get a prescription refilled but the pharmacist decided that we should have some pills left... I find my wife. In the fetal position crying I would give her every pill I have... She is sixty seven years old... I offered to pay for this prescription But she decided that we would have 2 wait I love all the hoopla about customer satisfaction until it's tested.... what a crock... I really like shopping at Harris Teeter. They're frozen section is where all the fun is for me. They normally have things that some other stores don't carry. You can also find good deals on flowers there most of the time as well. The store is usually well stocked and clean. The employees don't seem very engaging at times though. On this trip the cashier smiled but she never said hi or anything the whole time i was being checked out. I said hi to her though, still no response. So they could do a little better with that. Also check the expiration date on the dips in the meat department. The crab dips had all expired that day, but the employee said they wouldn't be marked down until the following day. I do find they have nice cuts of meat but they are sincerely kinda high priced!! They have a sushi section where they have togo sushi already made or you can order sushi. They also have a sandwich section with subs and all the fixings.. The bakery section has a good selection of treats as well. I was there to order a birthday cake. I love their whipped frosting and their cakes are 2 layers. Everyone enjoyed the cake!! Most cakes with colorful frosting taste like dye. But theirs didn't. Which was great!! I find Harris Teeter to be a more upscale grocery store so i kinda expect the associates to be more friendly. But several employees passed by and didn't ask if i needed help or even acknowledge me. Customer service is kinda important to me when spending top dollar in these stores. Interacting with the customer can go a long way and makes the experience more enjoyable. They had to call the manager for assistance with something i brought that was expired and tasted weird, for a refund and she had a little bit of attitude. Not sure why, but ma'am you work here, i just needed help. She asked a few questions before refunding my money. I finally asked if she didn't believe me would she like to taste it. Lol. Wow. They did refund me and they gave me back double which was a pleasant surprise!! We all have bad days, but the customer has nothing to do with that. Besides that little disappointment i really like the store. The deli department sells good quality sandwich meats like Boars Head and i really like the selection of breads and etc. I would recommend this store. Check them out!! Very clean and well organized grocery store; it's on the corner of Princess Anne and Seaboard, where Upton ends, a little past the Red Mill Commons and Red Mill Walk shopping centers. Plenty of parking. (Writing this 5/11/2020, and currently there is construction going on outside.) It's a beautiful store with fresh and colorful produce, the usual groceries of course, but I would have to say that Harris Teeter is a bit steep, price-wise, especially compared to other grocery stores. This is even with their VIC program. Yes, it discounts some items and you get some sale prices, but still, steep compared to others. This location also has a pharmacy, salad bar when operating normally, freshly made take-out pizza, deli, and my favorite part - Starbucks - I got an Iced Americano today and it was HEAVEN; I haven't had one since March, and it's already May. This dang COVID, but let me not get into that. Altogether not bad, I would come back if need be, but definitely not my first choice of stores. *Review #39 of 2020. read more

Spanking new Teeter and it looks just as nice as every other I have shoped in the Carolinas and Virginia. Clean, bright, helpful, well stocked and with shopping carts that have four workign wheels. I wasn't doing a full shop today, but I did take a minute to look over the Asian bar and the salad bar, walk through the produce and meat departments heading down one grocery aisle. All looked great. Love the Teeter subs (though I would say that Publix has better sliced meats) and the guy who put my sandwich together was enthusiastic if still figuring out how to do it right. I am a huge fan of the Harris Teeter brand. I usually shop at HT weekly anyway Bc I like that it's less crowded and has some upscale foodie brands. I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of this location at the intersection of Princess Anne Rd and Seaboard (across from the Food Lion that used to be a Bloom) because it's like 5 minutes from my house. Finally stopped in yesterday and was not disappointed. It's all shiny and new with seasonal items out front and a REALLY nice Starbucks upon entry. It's the nicest grocery store Starbucks I've yet to see. Plenty of seating and nice gals working who had sample drinks out for folks to try. The HT itself had the standard fare most do but the nice warm fresh pizza bar is a new touch. Reminded me of Whole Foods. It also has a pharmacy. Nice location with plenty of parking and great location for those in Red Mill. read more

Great new Harris Teeter! I'm jealous of those who live near this one. Would love to have it down the street from my house. They've got a peanut butter station that cranks out some really good PB! And love the trail mix bar! I'm loving the new, lower pricing strategies they're implementing while keeping some of their great specials - like the $7.99 pizzas on Mondays, Sub Club (they have great subs!), double coupons every day, lots of Buy 2 Get 3 Free specials, Meal Deals (huge savings there!) etc. It's a shame we can't take this places with us when we move to San Diego. Dear Harris Teeter, I absolutely love this store. However, two things I would like to comment on: *"The language that was used by the employees in the cold cuts section dated August 1, 2022 is quite disturbing". Trust me, I use a very similar language around a limited number of coworkers. However, the F... word is simply prohibited in my world around someone I simply do not know. The fact that that F.... word was used a number of times around unknown clients, absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL in public setting. Thankfully no kids were around. Suggestion: Please educate/train/set the rules for the employees. Secondly: *The Aloha Poki is over salted and contained too much Paprika. I spend $14 on a raw fish, that was impossible to eat. Due to extremely high levels of salt. My final recommendations: Will you please maintain the levels of expectations from the community you are surrounded by. There are 3 Harris Teeter stores in Virginia located on Princess Anne Road so be careful if you order pizza. I placed an order over the phone and went to the one on Princess Anne and S Plaza trails to puck it up in the pouring rain only to be told they don't make pizzas at that location. I left and went to the one on Princess Anne Road and Nimmo Parkway only to find they'd closed the pizza section. I'd phone the store on Princess Anne Road near the Red Mill Farms subdivision to explain the delay due to going to the other 2 locations on Princess Anne Road first. They held it in the pizza warmer for me. Andrew spoke with the pizza maker on my behalf. Cha was kind enough to retrieve it for me and Isabelle S is a nice cashier. Outstanding meat lover's pizza and customer service. New and clean look in the over all store. My favorite location was on Hanbury Road in Chesapeake VA. This location on Princess Anne near General Booth is by far my favorite location in Virginia Beach. So great that I had it added to YELP. read more

This was my first visit to a Harris Teeter. My first impression: this looks like a nicer Publix. I went there to find a cake as a very last minute idea to celebrate a family member. While I waited by the counter, I was greeted immediately by someone who worked in the deli. They answered all of my questions and made a recommendation that saved me money and time. They even offered to draw out the lettering right on the spot without any up-charge. Super super helpful! read more

And for my 100th review.... Harris Teeter! I had no idea this place existed until I got my nails done a month ago. I didn't think much about it because we were never Harris Teeter people. It kind of just seemed like one of those posh places I had no business being in. Well, I was wrong! My aunt told me about how nice it was in there and how she even peeped some employees from a certain supermarket chain shopping there instead. "There food is just fresher at Harris Teeter." No lie. The prices aren't cheaper, but there has to be a reason why people are flocking to it. I'll do a lot to save a buck, but maybe the extra coins are worth it? Getting into the parking lot is a little tricky, but if you're the type of driver to give your passengers heart attacks like me, you'll have no problem finding your way to a parking space. ^_^ We walked in and my eyes immediately found the Starbucks. Ding! I'm a Starbucks junky (venti iced green tea latte with soy milk, hold the ice), but I didn't bother visiting since I wanted to take a look around the store and be out. I told myself I'd catch them next time because I was on a mission: to the pizza oven. They had a few sitting out: bbq chicken, plain cheese, steak, etc. I let my mind wonder for a bit as we wandered about the store. They had an Asian hot bar. I dunno if it changes everyday, but the food sure did look enticing. So did the fresh bread samples, fish that smelled of the ocean, and... CHICKEN LIVER PATE! If I could live off of this stuff, I would! Ding ding!! We weaved our way up and down the aisles, saw what they had on sale, what looked good. While I wasn't paying attention, my mother put some muscadine grapes in the cart (by Cottle Farms, which were suuuuuper good - I ate most of them and kept the cute bucket they came in). After a bit, I found some brownies and put them in the cart as well. Eight squares for $6. They were okay. Nothing like the one I had from My Vegan Sweet Tooth, though. After walking around for 30 minutes, I made up my mind and got a nice, hot slice of Pizza Margherita. It was either that or plain cheese since I don't eat pizza with meat on it. Bleh! Got back to the car, sat down, and took a bite. Ding ding ding!!! It was great! The flavours were perfect, the pizza was heated through just enough, and the basil wasn't burnt! My mother even took two bites and she can't even stomach pizza that isn't thin crust. It was amazing! I ate it too fast and gave myself a headache and heartburn, but it was soooo worth it! Honestly, it's been a while since I was this impressed with a store. I can see myself shopping there in the future. Large but comfortably-planned store with plenty of options. I have rarely had any issues here but when I do, they are met with complete customer service in-mind and reasonable solutions. Austin has been a great help in recent months. (With a family of 5, I am there a lot) I am regularly, but not intrusively, asked if I need help - finding anything not in general altho..... . Misty in floral has always been so extraordinarily pleasant in answering questions and making a sweet bouquet out of anything (even slammed, she handles everything with ease). This review is being left because of my most recent experience with the pharmacy. I headed in there today with 3 prescriptions I moved from Walgreen's for my husband after 90 minutes of run-around there. Brandy and Arryn answered all my questions, dealt with my insurance issue and handled filling the scrips in 20 minutes with great warmth and care. By the time I got to them I was full of attitude too - BUT their concern, efficiency and professionalism left me with mission accomplished and breathing a great sigh of relief. Also, the meds were carefully explained (drink water with this one, this one can make one groggy etc). Thank you!! Thank you!! (And there is a GREAT Starbucks there if you have to wait!! ) OH and recently I have tried the express lane 3 times in last couple of months and it is A+ obviously run very well and such a convenience! read more

The store on the whole is well run and very clean. However....we tried ordering some store made Italian sausage to take back to ohio with us from the fresh meat area. We bought some on Sat when we arrived in town and thought it great. We returned on Tues and inquired about buying 60 links for Fri or Sat pickup. We're told the manager (meat) would call us. Left name and cell #. Heard nothing so returned on Wed afternoon and spoke with another employee (David) and he checked and said they had our info and he or his mgr would call by 4:00 that day. Obviously no one did or this review would be 5*. Perhaps because we were just visiting the area we weren't too important. Perhaps they couldn't supply the order. Don't know but a phone call would have been appreciated. There is a food lion and a walmart within spitting distance. Sharpen your game guys. read more

I love this place. I'm just visiting to Sandbridge but I have started to seriously consider moving here for this store and the Upton Drive shopping centers. Went here for fish after waiting too long to visit the fish markets. They had a great selection and the butcher was very helpful. Plus the salmon I got was about 50% off per pound! He told me to make sure I got a VIC card to get the discount. I found out later if you're just visiting they have a store VIC card anyone can use, though. They also had these 'recipe-sized' herbs, which I haven't seen before and was very useful being on vacation! I also think I was a bit hungry but the vanilla granola was so delicious, I had to get some. Found out the hard way the PLU to ring up 'salad bar items' is printed on the plastic container, but I think that's a really smart idea. I will be back Harris Teeter! This grocery store is amazing! I don't know if it's because I live in DC and I'm use to small grocery stores that don't have everything. But this place is HUGE! It has everything your heart would ever desire! Great deli meat section, great chip selection, drinks, ice cream, you name it -- they've got it. Plus the aisles are so long and wide -- it really fits multiple carts going up and down. Also - they'll load up your car with your groceries for you. So amazing. I love this place!! read more

Also we needed balloons blown up and no one was there but the manager came over with one of his other workers and took the time to blow them all up which we appreciated greatly.. In February I started using the express lane service at the Harris Teeter in Ghent (1320 Colonial Avenue). I had such a great experience. Having a brand new baby and being a first time mom, being able to order online and conveniently pick up on the time/day of my choice was great!! They were always friendly and my order was always spot on. I can honestly say I had ZERO issues/concerns and I ordered my groceries from this location every week from February until I moved to VA Beach in July. Unfortunately I have had the complete opposite experience with my local Harris Teeter in VA Beach (4540 Princess Anne Rd). The first week my card was charged twice and the second week my card was charged three times AND a different card that was on file (that I was not even using) was charged 3 times. When I talked to customer service, her response was " I don't know why the other card was charged, that's strange, and it will probably be refunded)". All the inappropriate charges were eventually reversed (but it took over a week). The next week they put an entire raw chicken in the same bag as a head of lettuce!!!!!, and we ordered 3 poblano peppers and they gave us 1 jalapeno pepper. When we discussed with them that it is inappropriate to put those items together , they did not seem overly concerned? The following week we were scheduled to pick up our groceries at 10:30am and when we got to the store, they told us that they were sorry but so many people called out that our order would not be ready until later in the day. When We came back later in the day, they told us they had given us a 5 dollar refund and put a gift card in our grocery bag. When we got home and unpacked our groceries there was NO gift card in the bag. We share one vehicle and our 6 month old daughter is in a spica splint. A simple phone call letting us know that our groceries would not be ready until later in the day would have been appreciated. We used the express lane to make our lives easier, and this is actually making our lives more difficult now. We have spent so much time on the phone with VA Beach Harris Teeter customer service and our bank since moving to VA Beach. We have been loyal Harris Teeter customers since we both moved to Downtown Norfolk in 2015. This experience not only has convinced me to NEVER go to that specific location (4540 Princess Anne Rd) but I also think I will be finding a new grocery store to shop at. read more
