    Harris Teeter in Charlottesville VA

A really nice and large Harris Teeter that has everything except a pharmacy, dang it. The store was well kept, well stocked and very clean. Staff was helpful and a little embarrassed when I asked if there was a pharmacy in this particular store. Large parking lot and they do have a Starbucks inside.

This Harris Teeter is massive - it has essentially everything you could possibly think of in a grocery store in a floorspace appropriate to that stock. It is part of Barracks Road Shopping Center and is open 24 hours a day, a real distinction for a store so large and something one is grateful for when one has a late night or early morning need for, well, anything. It is placed in quick driving and easy walking distance of UVA North Grounds with ample sidewalks and road connections, making it a very good spot for those who live in the area and a good bit closer than the Kroger on the opposite side of Barracks Road Shopping Center. I always felt its parking lot space is particularly well-positioned too as while there are stores around it nonetheless the floorspace this Harris Teeter takes makes it so it has extremely ample spaces/lots available as compared to some of the more densely packed Barracks Road Shopping Center shops. Otherwise, it has Harris Teeter-level pricing and ain't a discount grocery store. The sushi at this one also felt a bit lacking but their prepared foods are alright. They have a pretty good Starbucks location, with tables, in the grocery store as well.

All the reasons I like My Harris Teeter, First off Mehgan the Omelette and Hot Bar Chef. Her omelets are cooked to perfection using a technique I'm going to be trying at home. Also since she cooks stuff for the hot bar, and I hope she reads this review, the tofu and veggie options are also on point. Cathy on Thursday Nights makes the most amazing Prime Rib dinner that you could dream of, for 10 bucks you get 10 oz of prime rib and two sides, this week it was veggies and mashed potatoes, I was very impressed. Don, the manager of the store is also a sweetheart, Since Harris Teeter has the option to order food items in advanced, I have no problem ordering a cheese plate ahead of time for a party, they typically sport a cheddar, a smoked gouda, and a baby swiss with a pile of grapes on top, perfect for your next foodie event. But the point of this updated review was and still is Mehgan's omelets, I'll be back on Sunday just for you!

The new Starbucks outfit! It was recently renovated.

I'm going to start out by saying, yes, this CVS is understaffed. But the people who staff it are…read morecrushing it! I've seen the people at the pharmacy be berated for things that are beyond their control and they really are doing the best they can. Mamagita (I hope I spelled her name correctly) is THE best pharmacist I've ever encountered. She is professional and she can fix ANY problem. She has handled two situations with my meds that would normally send me over the edge. I really have no words, she is THE BEST. Oh, and this place does camera development well, just make sure you keep your receipt or take a picture of it!

This store is so short staffed the store manager who isn't a pharmacist had to start doing pharmacy…read morebecause there was only one pharmacist and he was busy giving people vaccines. I desperately needed my anti-depressants that I've already skipped two days and was experiencing bad withdrawal from. So I made the mistake of going there immediately after I got my prescription. I understood that I would have to wait until the pharmacist was finished putting it together, and patiently allowed them the to take care of all the other customers first until the line was gone and I was the last person left. While serving everyone the manager had a casual conversation with us about how they're understaffed because no one wants to work there. Me and several other customers pointed out that other CVS locations are fully staffed and don't have trouble finding employees. He stated that's because CVS makes sure that those locations get people since they're busier locations. I stated that just proves it's not people not wanting to work, but CVS not wanting to give this location employees. The manager didn't like that comment apparently. He was polite to all the other customers except me because he didn't like my opinions on the matter. When they were ready with my medication and serving all of the other customers, I went back up to the counter and politely mentioned that I had a Good RX coupon as well. The store manager proceeded to throw a fit and grab my phone out of my hand, and throw my phone and my medicine and tell me I had to wait even longer now because he needed that before the medicine was ready. Turns out the pharmacist already did the Good RX coupon and all he had to do was ask him to make sure it was done instead of throwing a temper tantrum. He was completely unprofessional for that. Moral of the story, CVS needs to hire more people since clearly their store managers are so stressed that they feel the need to behave this way. They need to make sure store managers stay in the back and have no business with customers if this is how they're going to act. And if they can't get anybody to work then they need to start transferring people from fully staffed locations. Do better CVS!

I'm commenting on poor store management as mentioned by the one star attitude of the store manager…read morementioned here on yelp and agreeing with Matt Haley's comment of a week ago on Google. Your checkout service is abysmal. And could your five male workers on duty last night been less helpful? I don't think so. Your self-checkout was overflowing and the three males who should have been supervising were talking loudly (football!) by the exit door and slapping each other's backs. Meanwhile, those trying self-checkout were on their own. Only ONE register was open and that young woman was moving as fast as she could but it wasn't fast enough. Seven of us were in line. I had only 12 items but there was no express lane (of the dozen or so available) open and I didn't have a VIC card and wanted to ask about one or have the clerk swipe the store's card. I watched the now four young men yakking it up by the door and thought about walking over there to say a) can't you see the people lined up ? (no, because it was at the other end of the cashiers and they were too busy cracking up to notice customers' needs. b) can't you open a cashier?, or c) if I go through self-checkout (still a mess!) will you swipe the VIC card but I'm disabled and it was, for me, a long walk. When my daughter and I finally got to check-out, I asked how I could get a VIC card and I was sent over to customer service. One of the young men was not taking care of a customer in front of me. So I waited for who I think is the store, manager, Jose, to recognize me. He was counting change. I stood in front of him at the customer service desk for four minutes. Never looked up. The other customer service man remained busy. This became a challenge so I just stood there staring at Jose at customer service. Nothing. Not even a glance up to say "im busy counting change but how can I help you?". One of the joking young men walked behind me and I turned and asked "how can I get an application for a VIC card?" and that man pointed at Jose and said "You need to speak to him". I said within earshot "Oh, the man who won't help me?". And I walled away. Never again. Send your joking young and Jose to Costco to see how self-checkout and customer service is properly run. They may see an invisible woman over 60 but you are quite wrong in underestimating me. Never again! and to add insult to injury, the packaged corn on the con that we purchased was moldy and the entire package thrown out.
