    Lemonade and chocolate chocolate soda.
    Steven U.

We were walking the downtown area of Charlottesville and came upon a real old school soda fountain. Being fans of nostalgia, my wife and I stopped in to check it out. When entering, we noticed the pharmacy that was up front, complete with customers picking up there prescriptions. It's not a huge pharmacy, but the kind you would see in the 50's with two aisles and homemade pecan pies by the front door for sale. As we walked further back, there were a couple of tables and chairs....and of course the long counter seating. We sat at the counter and a nice older lady gave us menus. Having just eaten, I ordered a lemonade and my wife had a chocolate chocolate soda. For those of you that don't know, a chocolate chocolate soda is a chocolate soda topped with chocolate ice cream.....yeah not for the faint of heart. The nice lady moved with purpose behind the counter, efficient in her movements. You could tell she may have been the original employee....kind, good at what she does, smiling at customers...really just everyone's grandma. She delivered our drinks and moved on to make a chicken salad sandwich for someone.... Our drinks were delicious and we were commenting that if we had lived in there area, it would be the place that we would meet for lunch or breakfast....saying hi to the regulars by name....what a fun environment. I hope this establishment stays in business for years to come!

Just the touch of nostalgia I needed. To find the dining walk straight back through the storefront. You'll find a friendly and unassuming staff full of warmth. The menu has basic sandwich fare but don't discount it. Their Chicken Salad was delicious. The real pleasure lies in their old fashioned soda fountain and I was pleased with my root beer float. The place is small but they offer good food and great service. The clientele tends to be more seasoned or of people working on the mall in for lunch either way. I'm glad I came and I will definitely be back!

Drug prices vary so much that I contacted 2 chains and Timberlake when I needed to have a prescription filled.

I work at an ice cream shop myself and although it might be annoying to have someone come 20 minutes before closing I never let my smile and service fade. Getting ice cream should always be the best point of each customers day and the customer should not be leaving feeling like you were annoying the workers just by doing what the shop was made for. Love this place and the customer service is usually always great but tonight it was way off. You can tell these aren't weekend workers because no way a Monday shift got you that annoyed.

The workers looked to be about high school age and the service was just average. There are a few dairy free options, which was nice, so I tried the lemonade sorbet. Just okay. Not the best sorbet I've had. My boyfriend tried some kind of chocolate ice cream and said it was decent. He commented the scoops were a bit smaller than he expected. Price is very high for just ice cream. Kilwins is a bit cheaper and chaos is definitely a better bang for your buck. Wasn't that impressed with the flavor. Overall it's a decent place to grab ice cream but nothing amazing.

As usual, I'm looking for the best coffee roaster to go to, and Lone Light Coffee was on the top of my list in this area. The coffee shop is on the smaller side, but it was warm and comfortable. The baristas were nice and three of them gave me their input on which single origin I should choose for my pour-over. POUR-OVER - MKT Price +6.50 for Mohammed Aba Nura - Ethiopia (tasting notes: Strawberry, white chocolate, hazelnut) I wanted the craziest tasting option they had, and they recommended this one since it's pretty popular and well-liked among customers. However, one of the barista said he didn't really like it himself. I figured I should still try it. The sips I had while it was still warm was pretty juicy and sweet, but I really didn't like the notes once it cooled down (about 20 minutes later), which tasted sour and off-putting. I should have listened to that one barista and went with a different single origin option. Overall, good roaster -- just unfortunate that I tried something that wasn't for me. The baristas seem knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I would love to come back next time and try another single origin offering.

The baristas are excellent at making coffee, friendly, and the seasonal drinks are creative. They have a cardamom syrup that's delicious in lattes. The shop itself is very cute, with a handful of tables and stools at the counter. There's a couple of tables outside too. I wouldn't recommend trying to get work done here during a busy time since it's not a huge space.
