I got a strawberry shake, wife a peanut butter cup and daughter a "Jack" which is their specialty ice cream sandwich in a chocolate variety. They only have one Jack flavor a day. We all absolutely loved! There is ample seating on their side patio yard area. But parking can be challenging in the lot. Many street park across the street. Cool spot with unique ice cream options! Plenty of parking in the lot behind and some in front, with a nice enclosed side yard with plenty of games, seating, and even some special surprises for kids. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the ice cream was tasty. $5 for single scoop, $7 for a double scoop. This ice cream place is a pickup window with an outdoor seating area near the river. The seasons were clearly changing when I visited and it was barely above freezing. You might think that outdoor ice cream in cold weather on a midweek day would not be a draw, but there was a short but continuous line of people here, stretching the efforts of the one person working. So right there, you know this is probably really good. They had some interesting ice cream sandwich type options, and despite the line moving slowly I did not object to having extra time to make a decision. Their cones are generic and I would not recommend them. The ice cream itself delivered. I am a mint chip guy, and their version carried a fresh-tasting hit. However, the real standout was an apple cider sorbet. I am not usually a big fan of sorbets, but this one really hit hard with the flavor of local apples (this bucolic region is the kind of place you'd want to go for apples) and a hint of cinnamon spice. Even though it was a hot cider kind of a night, I experienced no sense of disappointment upon consuming this fantastic cup of ice cream. Amazing selection! I love a unique flavor and they had lots. Service was great, they let me sample the honey sea salt latte and the apricot amoretti. The apricot gave major spring vibes but the honey sea salt latte was the winner that's what I got on my cone, it was amazing! My partner had the mocha latte and he was very impressed with the chocolate nibs. The outdoor space is very cute and would definitely be a good group hang out spot with lots of seating and games. Without a doubt, my favorite place for ice cream in and anywhere near Charlottesville! No matter the flavor, you will not be disappointed. My personal favorite(which I probably shouldn't disclose because it means that other people will go get my favorite and there might not be enough for me lol ) The ice cream has an incredibly creamy buttery mouth feel, and is always smooth and perfect texture on the tongue. The flavors are always heightened and never disappointing. Due to their tiny building and single window, one must often wait for your delicious treat. It would be wonderful if they were in a larger building with more employees so we can get our favorite ice creams more quickly! I highly recommend this place! read more

first, the ice cream itself: very good. creamy and light, but with a bit of an odd aftertaste. the folks behind the counter helping us like just couldn't even, and handed me containers to carry to the car with no tops while it was raining. when I asked for tops, I got a bit of an attitude--and they didn't even fit the bases properly. what I will say is that the flavors were unique and the actual ice cream was good enough that we will go back once we're back in town. read more

Yummy ice cream. Great way to end the Riverview Park Trail with some ice cream. Their ice cream is made with eggs, which makes it extra custardy and rich. We tried a raspberry one and a coffee one. Very good. There is a large outdoor patio, with a bench swing, tables, a dartboard, a human sized connect four. Hike, eat some ice cream, play some games, chill out a bit, then hike it all off again. We went here for the first time on Saturday and it was amazing! I had the girl power (Girl Scout thin mint cookie flavor) and the coffee flavor (I forgot the name) and omg it was SO good! My husband got the ginger toasted marshmallow and the strawberries and cream; also amazing! There were real toasted marshmallows in the ice cream and you could taste the smoky flavor. This was my second time here and last! Tuesday night, long line. I observed many people ahead of us were asking for samples. I don't blame them, the list of choices are not your common flavors. It is nice that the sign does say "free samples", but let me tell you they young woman on the other side of the window does NOT like her job. By the time we approached, I politely asked for 3 samples (one for each of us, my husband, my granddaughter and me). The young woman glared at us, whispered something to the older female coworker. She did give me the samples, but one of the flavors was incorrect. Boy was that difficult for her to give me the correct flavor I asked for. We made our choices and ordered our ice cream. I did ask what her name was because it was clear she had no idea she was in the customer service industry. She refused to tell me. What does that tell you, Emily? She was very inconvenienced having to take our order. I even felt the need to watch them put our order together for fear they might do something with our ice cream. Go figure! Even my granddaughter (10 years old) said the young woman needs to be kinder! So Emily (the owner) if you are reading this we will never come back. I am sure that I am not alone in feeling disgruntled having to give my ice cream order to your employees! Yes you have unique flavors, but the ice cream has a standard flavor, at best.
