Brought better selection of food to SOMD. Take out food is pretty tasty. Staff is helpful. Only issue I have is the insane parking lot and the entryway to the store. There always seems to be congestion at the door because it isn't wide enough AND they have display tables up which narrows the walkway even more. People coming from the registers try to cross the stream entering in (to exit on the right side) which aggravates the situation. read more

Last night was my first time visiting this grocery store and I was extremely impressed. Firstly, I had my 2 small children with me and they had a parking spot in the front labeled for customers w/ children and being as though I was alone w/ them I couldn't be happier. Then they had a free kiddie ride which my son loved and rode 5x before we entered the store. We used the shopping cart w/ the car in front which was great to keep my little ones occupied while I shopped. The produce was fresh and with a Vic card I was able to take advantage of some great sales! I'm talking 97 cent pineapple, BOGO deals on ground turkey & chicken & breakfast sausage just to name a few. The store brand lunch meat (I sampled) even tasted good so I bought some of that too. My son enjoyed the cheese samples and free dragon cookie. And on top of it all 2 attendants assisted me with my groceries AND the kids (he got my son out of the cart and strapped him in his seat while I was strapping in the baby). Overall, I was very pleased with my experience, the prices ($120 bill! WOW), AND the customer service. I have more highlights but don't want to write a book LOL. This grocery store is superb! Prices are a bit on the high side, but I'll pay extra for a clean store and outstanding customer service any day. Looking forward to the parking lot clearing out once the bargain shoppers grand opening coupons are all gone. This Harris Teeter has only been open for a little over a week, but since I stopped in today, I thought I'd give you an idea about how it is. Overall, it's a pretty nice supermarket. Itg has some good points and bad points, but overall worth a stop by. As soon as you enter you see that they have put their best foot forward. Right off the bat you are in the area to get some good freshly prepared food. There is a pizza kiosk that makes some pretty good pizza. There is a hot food bar, a wing bar, a soup bar, an Asian food bar, a fresh bread station, well you get the idea. Anyway. If you want to grab a quick meal, you're in luck, they have plenty of choices. If you want to take a seat and eat there, you'll have to pay first and then make your way to the little hidden cafe area. It was small, but adequate for it's purpose. I got a slice of pizza and it was pretty good. Good enough to order later to take home for dinner. The food selections were comparable to other fooid stores. The employees were personable as well. So no issues there. Now let's get to the areas where I took notes for improvements. Let's start with the isles and traffic flow in the store. The middle that runs along the checkout area was kinda narrow. An area where people congregate to purchase their groceries should be wider to account fgor lines and shoppers all in the same area. Next was the restocking policy. While I was there, most isles were being serviced by folks restocking the shelves. Often, thete would be cargo carts loaded with boxes and stuff parked in the center of the isle. This caused many traffic jams in multiple isles all at the same time. You might want to handle the restocking at a more off time so as not to impact the shoppers. I mean it was a bit beyond ridiculous that there was so much restocking st the same time. There were several free sample stations throughout the store. Unfortunately, they were positioned in places that caused even more congesdtion at the ends of the isles. When space is a premium. You have to make sure that you don't cause congestion with free sample stations. You know people are going to stop to sample things, so stop them in other areas that don't cause congestion. I went to use the self checkout, and pay with my debit card. Everything was fine until it gets to where you select the reciept type. Then you have to make a few more screen selections, but it doesn't tell you what to do. The end of the self checkout process is not so intuitive as you would like. I saw the checkout monitor helping a lot of folks (myself included) navigate the checkout screen. It wasn't hard, just a little confusing. Finally, let's talk about the parking. I get that it's new and everyone wants to check it out, but figuring out how to get out was as pain. Eventually, I noticed tbed greenpeace the lot. Might want to raise those signs up a lot higher so people can see them easier. Overall, I did like the store, and will be going back. Hopefully they can figure a better way to restock the shelves at a better time. We'll see how things are in a month or two, We'll see. read more

This review is for the Subs. I was very disappointed. I've never had a sub with so little meat on it. I'd be more upset if I had paid full price but got mine when the subs were $4.99. Even if the sub had been good, the customer service was lacking. I had to wait for close to 5 minutes before anybody even showed up to wait on me. I won't be back for a sub anytime soon. read more

I will start off by saying I am cheap (like Aldi cheap), so I probably won't be shopping here on the regular. It is expensive. The store is very large and I found their to-go sushi to be better than any other grocery store sushi around here (meaning it isn't just crab stick or smoked salmon). I found their offer of $7.99 pizzas on Monday to be too good to refuse. We're talking 16 inches here...not the paltry 14 inches pizza hut calls large. There were several issues with my encounter but the place has only been open like a week so they don't have their sea legs yet. First off, their app for ordering ahead is terrible. If you set a deli or pizza order to be ready at a certain time you will get a text message saying when it is ready. That text is a lie and is more or less just a timer for when it SHOULD be done if all goes well. I set up a pizza order an hour ahead to be picked up at 7:00 PM. I get there at 7:10 and it hasn't even started being made. Long story short...I didn't get my pizza until 7:45. Because of the issues I got one of my two pizzas for free. So they did the right thing. Because they rushed it because I stood there with judging eyes, the pizzas were undercooked and the dough raw in spots. I'm sure once this place gets in the swing of things, it will be superb and these problems will be remedied. Because of the potential here I give it 4 out of 5 despite my less than ideal experience. Really, St. Mary's County, we should know better than to expect everything to be perfect at the start. Like with any business opening here though, expect crowds and chaos for the next 2 months. read more

Don't bother to call and let you know your online order won't be ready that you placed 6 hours in advance. Then ask you to come back 3 hours later at 930 at night Because they are backed up? Pretty sure they only allow so many timeslots for order pick ups. That's OK shop twice at Harris Teeter and done, never again. read more

I have been a patron on HT for almost 9 years. I have lived in 3 different cities/states (including California MD) in those 9 years and ALWAYS go to HT. I am usually very impressed by the freshness of their food, their prices, and their large selection. I have experienced the polar opposite at the California MD store. Expect to be hard pressed to find fresh fruits or vegetables during ANY season. I have bought fruits and veggies on at least 4 different occasions that I have had to throw away within 2 days or less. You open the package to find that a quarter to half of the product is spoiled. Oh, and forget about attempting to buy any organic produce. Eight times out of 10, anything organic is old and/or rotten. Now, let's talk about the meat. I have bought packaged meat there twice that was spoiled. I did not even realize it until the package was opened. No visual indication (color/texture) that it was spoiled. For this reason, I suspect that they refreeze their meats. The same goes for seafood. Some of the nastiest crab cakes I have ever had. No exaggeration. Old and (again) most likely refrozen. I also warn you NOT to use the salad bar. It is clear that the lettuce and veggies have not been washed and you often see the same lettuce used after 3 days--totally discolored (be sure you toss the bin and inspect). Lastly, let's talk about the cheese. Check ALL dates before buying. On more than one occasion, package after package of expired cheese. For all of these reasons (not to mention the inconsistent inventory), I am now no longer a patron of HT. Going to the grocery store should not be a continuous exercise in risk management. GET IT TOGETHER. Where is the quality control? Store your food at the proper temps and inspect your inventory. I have given this store WAY TOO MANY chances: All done now. I actually go to Walmart now for produce and Target (believe it or not) for meats. In both cases, everything is much fresher and even cheaper. read more

Love it. Cheap milk. An international foods aisle. Try the HobNobs cookies and Robertson lemon curd. Sushi is great.

The deli is disgusting. The slicers and never clean. Management is constantly yelling at or threatening the employees. Especially the store manager. Boxes of meat and cheese are seen sitting in carts on the sales floor for hours at a time. They have one person working five different stations in the deli/bakery area at night. If you look in the back, the sinks are so full of dirty dishes that they have carts and racks of dirty dishes pushed up to the sinks as well. There was a live roach in the meat display case. The place is a shit show. The rest of the store is great tho! The produce is the best in the area--always fresh. The deli area is just disgusting. Needs a new manager. read more

Nice, big store for this area. Their customer service is great, they want you to have a good experience or will compensate you. If there's a problem with a product you get 2x your money back. I WAS really excited for their huge deli with prepared, convenience foods. Unfortunately I have got my money back far more often then I have received a good product in a reasonable amount of time. I think the first time I had a problem was their wing bar. I got home to bite into one and it was completely bloody. Drove all the way back to get 2x my money, but I haven't had a wing since and it still didn't make up for my gas $ and time. Then it was their pizza station. You can order online, but in the evening you typically have to order at least an hour in advance. We've done it 5-6 times and not once has our order been ready. Several times it hasn't even been started. Even after we get the "your order is ready to pick up" text, it isn't ready. Once they had no record of our order, even though I showed them my order confirmation on my phone. They said they would put my order in again, but it would be at least an hour! That time I talked to a manager and they got my pizzas out in 15 minutes and gave them to us. ....they are always ready to compensate you. But it is just not worth the time. And after six months of being open they should have everything running more smoothly. read more

If you are ever in a mood for some reasonably priced decent tasting food for lunch DON'T EVER GO TO HARRIS TEETER for a fast lunch. There service sucks in that department. I called ahead to see what time food items would be available and the time they stated was a lie. The time they stated (11am) I still had to wait more than fifteen minutes for the items I wanted. Talked to management and they were happy to tell me that maybe they were running a little late. The sign said 11-230 for lunch, not when we get it ready to 230. read more

Nice store, pleasant employees but in the month that it has been open I have left without shopping more often than I have made a purchase. The parking lot is disastrously small and other items that I specifically shop for - like rotisserie chicken with no seasoning - are regularly not available. I visited the store three times just today and left without shopping twice. Not sure or if I'll go back. Not really worth depending on being able to pick up what I want. read more
