It's almost addictive to want to scour the shelves for the treasures you think you might find. I wasn't looking for anything in particular when I was stopping here, but of course I had a few ideas in mind when I was looking. I went directly to the housewares department as I was looking for items that would help me in the kitchen area. Somehow during the move I lost my utensils, among other things. Eating with plastic utensils and chopsticks was getting to be a bit too much. I ended up finding not just utensils while I was there. This location was rather well organized. Staff were helpful. Checking out was a breeze and I was onto my next location.

They rarely have what I need. And even if you are fortunate enough to find an employee, they won't know what they're doing or anything about the specific sports equipment you need. If you need a cheap, Chinese made baseball for your kid's little league, they have you covered. But this is no REI. Or even Cabela's or Bass pro shop. It's the Kmart of sporting goods. I kick myself every time I leave empty handed and vow never again. When I knew I was going to be coming to this area I did a search to see what was available store wise and planned out my day. This was my first stop of the day and I was a bit excited. I went in and was happy to see that they had a wide selection of items to pick over. Better than most thrift stores if you ask me. I thought that I was going to find a few things here and be on my way. Well...not so accurate. As one other reviewer put it, "absolutely insane prices." What they were charging for some items in here you could buy brand new in a chain store. It boggled my mind at where they thought they could charge that much for items that would probably be in the trash if not in this store. Needless to say, I didn't end up securing anything from here. I also have to concur that this place does have an aroma to it. Want to know something really odd? Like really, really odd? Right next door to it is basically an extension of it. A space that offers only furniture items. That is packed to the gills........but it is never open. I thought to myself that I would give it a go. I pull on the door and it doesn't open, even though it is lit up. And then you notice the sign that says you are on camera. Great, take a picture, but let me in, open this section up. Or, wait, maybe not, if the prices are the same as the main space, you probably won't find a bargain here.

I came in here in hopes of picking up a few items I knew I wouldn't find elsewhere. With that, I also browsed. I found the items that I wanted and continued to shop for other things. I went from department to department, jumped into the clearance section, and just continued to browse to see if there was anything I might finally grab. After grabbing everything I needed and few things I wanted, it was off to the races. By that I mean entering the gauntlet that is the registers. This was the only Walmart that I had come to where the registers were sequestered from the rest of the store where everyone is funneled into. Then the associates that work this area yell to direct you where to go. Then they act as if you are an idiot using their machines. It's one thing to assume that people don't know how to use them, but it's another when there are mistakes made by the company. I had grabbed a Brita from the shelves in hardware because the price was too good to pass up. I doubled checked the shelves just to make sure that this just wasn't misplaced, there were several more in the area. I should have taken a picture of this as it came back to bite me later. I scanned the Brita last since it was the biggest item and wouldn't fit in the bag with the other items I grabbed. When I rang it up, the price was $20 more than listed on the shelf. I asked the associate nearest to me about it and at first she just brushed me off and indicated that I needed to pay that price. I told her that the price on the shelf was marked at $19.98. She questioned me as to where it was. I told her, hardware department, top shelf as you walk in the aisle with others of the same items right next to it. I told her the price was listed and this is where she basically called me an idiot. Her words, "The price tag is beneath the item, not on top of it." I looked her dead in the eye and said, "You don't say, this is especially true if the item is on the top shelf." Then she said I needed to pay full price. I then reiterated that there were more than one of the same exact item in the same spot. She kind of stood there and thought that if she stared me down I would shut up, buy the item, and leave the store. Then when I hit her with the fact that I used to work for Walmart some years ago she backed down. She then took off to the hardware department to check the item. I should have known something was up for as long as it took her to come back, and this is where I realized I should have taken a picture while I was there, but with full hands it was hard to do. She came back with a picture of the shelf, where she obviously moved the items around. The shelf was perfectly zoned with the items moved around to different locations. She felt so proud to have showed me that picture. Like a toddler thinking they won a fight. Then she told me that she could only give me 10% off, as if to placate me to get me out of the store. I told her to get it off my transaction so I could get out of there. She did, all while her coworker looked on as if to be her backup. What's even worse was after I had finished up and paid and was walking out she was at the customer service desk gloating what she just did. Horrible people equals a horrible experience. Then to do their survey is even worse. They make one attempt to contact you and never follow up.

She asked if I could call back in 20 minutes so she could look through two more racks. I was okay with that and called back some time later. Guess what? I tried the kids department twice and the womens department twice-- NO answer. JCPenney should not do catalog orders. This is only my second one. I didn't get my first order either. JCPenney as a whole needs to fix their inventory and logistics issues. You cant have people order and pay for stuff only yo cancel the order bc you dont have the inventory or show that a package has been delivered to one of your stores only for your employees to not be able to find it.
