It's always nice walking around 78th street studios. It can get a little overwhelming because the building is so big and you may get lost but just follow the signs posted on the walls to find out where you're going. There is always so many people here, bumping into each other, and fighting over parking, so it is a bit overstimulating. But it is worth it as it is definitely one of the BEST places that host art festivals/fairs at least a dozen or so times a year. Support local and keep up the good work! My only suggestion is to avoid parking nearby and just walk to 78th Street Studios until they respray the parking lot lines and fill in some of the potholes...

Lakewood Art Studios is an artist collective, education and event space in Lakewood. I'm spitballing from memory, but they feature maybe 30+ local artists. Think the most unique pieces of jewelry, art, greeting cards, ceramics and other odds and ends thoughtfully curated in a gallery. You constantly have things to explore and no two things are the same. For me, buying handmade local artisan goods is my weak spot. Seriously, take all my money now. They also offer a variety of classes ranging from photography to portrait drawing and a comic book club, all held in the small classrooms in the back of the shop. This is a pretty special place. I was in a bit of a rush when I visited, but I am already planning to go back out to Lakewood to specially spend more time in Lakewood Art Studios appreciating all the one-of-a-kind pieces. This was not a Yelp event but a SPACES event. I attended on a Friday night with my friend and former roommate. SPACES is a venue located west of downtown Cleveland where works of art are displayed just as you would find in an art gallery but they also have events throughout the year. The show I attended was very different for me and my first time experiencing this type of art form. Some people may find interpretive dance strange but if you come with an open mind then you will enjoy it or at least leave experiencing something different. I will rate my experience 4.5/5. I misread the program pamphlet but I later found out that 2 different artists were performing at the same time so attendees could select who they wanted to watch. I didn't know this at first so I did miss one performance (by an artist named Robert) which is fine. The performances were actually repeated for people who showed up later to the evening (there was a 2 hour window to walk around and watch the performances). It is hard to explain this show but you can take a look at my posted videos for further details. My favourite piece was the woman who performed a movement dance detailing her feelings with the local media. She had newspapers lined up on the floor and at one point started laughing and crying to express her feelings. Many of the other dancers like her had amazing balance, core strength, and flexibility. They were all very talented in their own unique way. Here is the official dance show description - "Six local choreographers converge to create movement poetry in a vivid portrayal of modern art. View original works from diverse perspectives and watch art literally come to life." I recommend visiting SPACES on a weeknight or weekend. It is a fun environment and encourages you to open up your artistic side if you aren't normally inclined to do so. I will definitely have to come back here to explore more of the featured art on the walls. All of the dancers are clearly extremely talented. Some of dancers core strength was amazing. My personal favorite dancer was Robert. His performance was simply beautiful. But she was very nice, let me in, gave me some flyers on upcoming events and invited me to walk around and even go downstairs to where a second gallery was being set up. She kept saying she was sure I would like it better if I came back for their opening reception night, but I actually liked it at this visit. There were some things you couldn't get a good look at because they weren't set up yet, but it was cool to see the place in a state of transition. Not often does the average person get to see a gallery with paintings on the floor, some wrapped up still, others leaned upon others. Such a presentation could be a whole contemporary art exhibit of its own...but I digress. I did return after the opening night and was even more impressed. My only negative comment would be the lighting. I think it was just too full force and not really needed to the extent it was used. However I liked all the art - there's even some in the workers' offices on the first floor. All of it is for sale - $750.00 to $10,000.00. Free admission. This is more than just a gallery. I recently purchased a pair of Cleveland Street Glass earrings that have become a fast favorite. Cleveland Street Glass creates jewelry from auto glass swept right off the streets from car break-ins. Each piece is completely unique, showing off the natural breaks and aqua hues of the shattered glass. It sounds crazy, but they are brilliant. They are up-cycled and super unique. Yes, the prices inside The W are pricey. Keep in mind, this is a high-end jewelry store. They carry all types of jewelry ranging from silver, bronze, gold, gemstones, wood, glass, diamond, etc. The gals who helped my Mom and I were really personable, and it was so cool to actually meet the designer of my earrings (she just happened to be in the store!).
