There is always so many people here, bumping into each other, and fighting over parking, so it is a bit overstimulating. But it is worth it as it is definitely one of the BEST places that host art festivals/fairs at least a dozen or so times a year. Support local and keep up the good work! My only suggestion is to avoid parking nearby and just walk to 78th Street Studios until they respray the parking lot lines and fill in some of the potholes...

The building is filled with art from local artists and gave a great vibe. All staff were friendly and helpful. A nice place for an event.

The lighting was a little too low and it was overall kind of dingy. Upon a closer look, it was dusty and the sparse furniture pieces were slightly sticky from residue or something. I can see this being a nice place to hang out with friends at a later setting since they host live music sometimes.

I was taking a yoga class at nearby Puma Yoga when I randomly noticed Lakewood Art Studios and decided to wander in. What a pleasant, pleasant surprise. Lakewood Art Studios is an artist collective, education and event space in Lakewood. I'm spitballing from memory, but they feature maybe 30+ local artists. Think the most unique pieces of jewelry, art, greeting cards, ceramics and other odds and ends thoughtfully curated in a gallery. You constantly have things to explore and no two things are the same. For me, buying handmade local artisan goods is my weak spot. Seriously, take all my money now. They also offer a variety of classes ranging from photography to portrait drawing and a comic book club, all held in the small classrooms in the back of the shop. This is a pretty special place. I was in a bit of a rush when I visited, but I am already planning to go back out to Lakewood to specially spend more time in Lakewood Art Studios appreciating all the one-of-a-kind pieces. I'll come here to discover new artists for my collection or buy stunning, original gifts for friends!

There is of course this gallery, but there is also the Galleries at CSU at the other end of the next block. Anyways.... This was a cool spot. I first wandered in as I was taking a walk around downtown. I didn't realize the place was between shows and not really open. I wandered in the first set of doors and yanked at the second only to realize I would have to be buzzed in. A lady quickly noticed me. At this point I had gotten a better look inside and saw it didn't look quite ready for visitors; I was expecting her to turn me away. But she was very nice, let me in, gave me some flyers on upcoming events and invited me to walk around and even go downstairs to where a second gallery was being set up. She kept saying she was sure I would like it better if I came back for their opening reception night, but I actually liked it at this visit. There were some things you couldn't get a good look at because they weren't set up yet, but it was cool to see the place in a state of transition. Not often does the average person get to see a gallery with paintings on the floor, some wrapped up still, others leaned upon others. Such a presentation could be a whole contemporary art exhibit of its own...but I digress. I did return after the opening night and was even more impressed. My only negative comment would be the lighting. I think it was just too full force and not really needed to the extent it was used. However I liked all the art - there's even some in the workers' offices on the first floor. All of it is for sale - $750.00 to $10,000.00. Free admission. This is more than just a gallery. They service paintings in what looks to be a sizeable backroom. You can come here for restoration or framing needs.

They have a lot of local artist pieces and recycled items. Their card section is a treat and full of satirical messaging. Some cards are for adult eyes only. There are so many cool gifts ideas and something for everyone. I purchased a cool mug and a silly card. If I'm in the area, I'll be back for sure!

I won 2 tickets from Yelp to come to a dance show here on 9 December 2018. The show that I attended…read morewas titled INTERPLAY: An Evening of Ekphrastic Dance. This was not a Yelp event but a SPACES event. I attended on a Friday night with my friend and former roommate. SPACES is a venue located west of downtown Cleveland where works of art are displayed just as you would find in an art gallery but they also have events throughout the year. The show I attended was very different for me and my first time experiencing this type of art form. Some people may find interpretive dance strange but if you come with an open mind then you will enjoy it or at least leave experiencing something different. I will rate my experience 4.5/5. I misread the program pamphlet but I later found out that 2 different artists were performing at the same time so attendees could select who they wanted to watch. I didn't know this at first so I did miss one performance (by an artist named Robert) which is fine. The performances were actually repeated for people who showed up later to the evening (there was a 2 hour window to walk around and watch the performances). It is hard to explain this show but you can take a look at my posted videos for further details. My favourite piece was the woman who performed a movement dance detailing her feelings with the local media. She had newspapers lined up on the floor and at one point started laughing and crying to express her feelings. Many of the other dancers like her had amazing balance, core strength, and flexibility. They were all very talented in their own unique way. Here is the official dance show description - "Six local choreographers converge to create movement poetry in a vivid portrayal of modern art. View original works from diverse perspectives and watch art literally come to life." I recommend visiting SPACES on a weeknight or weekend. It is a fun environment and encourages you to open up your artistic side if you aren't normally inclined to do so. I will definitely have to come back here to explore more of the featured art on the walls. All of the dancers are clearly extremely talented. Some of dancers core strength was amazing. My personal favorite dancer was Robert. His performance was simply beautiful. The facility itself was actually a very great space and it's in a great location in Hingetown which I enjoyed. It's very versatile space and I can see them being able to do plenty of things here. Also, the parking lot is very large so it may take you some time of driving around before you even find a spot. WINTER HOLIDAY MARKET -- I arrived for their winter holiday market. There were probably over 100 vendors (small businesses) inside the factory selling all sorts of items from candles, to artwork, pottery, t-shirts, etc. I also noticed a small section of food vendors. There is so much to see here that I suggest not coming in on an empty stomach. I hadn't eaten lunch when I arrived and I was starving so I left after 30 mins while my friend Christina left before me because of the large amount of people around. This factory is similar to 78th street studios but the Screw factory is much larger. Situated in a heavy bar and dining area, it brings elegance into the neighborhood. You can visit their exhibits in-person and also shop online to view their available prints, wearable art and pottery. They have a huge commitment to local fine art, showcasing women artists and artists of color. Diversity matters here and it's so clear in their expansive pieces. As an aspiring collector, I've attended a few events with the Column & Stripe group where we've learned from their awesome staff about building a collection, including making smart art investments. The Harris Stanton is a special Cleveland gallery. I hear they are looking to sell this location, which is sad, because I think they are lovely in every way! They also offer Gallery Services like acquiring, installing, commissioning or appraising your collection. One day when I'm rolling in the dough, I will 200% trust Harris Stanton to curate my collection for me!!
