Biggest downfall is when it says they have five and they actually have zero.. I stopped early in the morning to exchange an item for my husband, and it was easy Peezy. Great customer service and a tidy store! Nice job Janesville Menards

Yet another big box store that doesn't have decent staff…read more This store is an hour and a half round trip for me, so getting the correct product is important. I bought a ceiling fan with down rod, neither item came with the extender kit for the wires to reach. I was on the phone with them THREE separate times and got as many answers if they had the correct kit in stock. No one could answer my question, why, if an extender kit is needed for a down rod, why wasn't I told? I called Hunter directly and they told me that this model doesn't allow for a down rod. When I came in to exchange it, the saleswoman said she'd never heard of them not allowing for a down rod. I asked why I wasn't sold the kit at time of purchase, no answer. I asked for the kit, it's a special order. HOW DO YOU SELL A PRODUCT WITHOUT EVERYTHING NECESSARY TO INSTALL IT? I have electricians working hourly to put this fan in and I am running wild goose chases to get them what they need and still, FOUR HOURS later, I am empty handed. Never again, I will not be back.

Ahh, Lloyd's Trrue Value, for when you don't want to deal with the traffic or people of driving up…read morefurther through more traffic to more superior stores like Blain's Farm and Fleet, or a Home Depot. They have a very small selection of some key essential items, and some random odds and ends that you wouldn't expect them to. If you're on this side of town, and you're not wanting to put in a few extra miles, they're the only store of its kind in this particular corner of town. Bowever, they are well aware of that, and the price they charge for their merchandise is well above what it should be. And I get it, they're not a huge chain, they're a small little no name store, so they're just taking out the loss it costs businesses to even get up and running out on the customers because they expect them to pay it vs wasting their own time driving up town, I'm traffic, with our awfully slow speed limits, and our slow, unpredictable lights, so a lot of them will just eat their wallet, cut the loss, get what they need and try not to dwell on it too much. $12 for a 2 set of grilling skewers? And we needed three, so that's two, $34, plus tax, for essentially a pokey coathanger. Woof. Employee didn't know if they had them or where they might be, but otherwise she was very, very sweet. She seems to know my stepdad very well from him coming in there frequently to get random doodazzles and whatsits, and she's very nice to him, which means a lot to me, unfortunately it just doesn't pull enough sway to bring them higher up on the ratings. Nothing you can't get here you can't get anywhere else, and they're proud of their merchandise, as reflected on the price sticker. I will say, that it looks like they might have some weird candy it check out that I don't know if I've ever seen before in convenience stores, and that always piqued my curiosity a little bit, but I didn't come in with a wallet, so I didn't try any. Also not really something one should really be judging this type of establishment on. Whoopsie! Hehe. Just a little note that I didn't explore the time store, some of it might be rare, astounding, and reasonably priced, but I kind of doubt it. I think they're just banking on a convenient location and people paying more to get in and out, like people paying more at a Walgreens than somewhere else.

Manager offers to replace it but not assemble it... mind you this grill is around 220lbs... great service is making it right.... not meeting the lowest expectations.. by the way we weren't hung up but we heard what you said..... now won't take our calls..(5).and hung up on us when we called back.. smh

Rheem gas water heater keeps shutting its power vent off, no idea why. If it works I'll change my…read morereview but spent all day trying to make this thing work. Edit: we figured it out after we had tried troubleshooting the Rheem water heater most of the afternoon. I have to apologize to the Home Depot, it's more of the water heater itself and not that particular store, the older gentleman who helped us pick the 50 gallon water heater was very helpful and polite, and answered a lot of my questions. The problem was that the Power Vent on top was not PERFECTLY sealed. If you do not drill that thing in the right spot, it won't make a good seal and it will keep turning on and off, over and over again, which will cause the machine to error out and give you a weird code that doesn't make sense. So far the Rheem water heater 50 gallon with a power vent has been working well after several weeks of waiting to see if I would have any problems. It is a lot quieter than the Richmond brand 40 gallon water heater that I had which was manufactured I think back in 2008, (that is Menards brand iirc), and so far I am liking the Rheem. Its stickers are kind of all over the place, crooked and not out on as professional looking as Richmond's, but the parts are metal and seem a little higher quality. But yeah, if you get this power vent water heater, make sure every corner and seal is drilled on perfectly, or you'll spend most of the day trying to figure out why it won't turn on and stay on. So far, so good though. Have had hot water and didn't need to return the thing (which would've been a nightmare since getting it down the stairs empty was a real pain, the thing has nowhere good to grab onto it so if you need to haul this through a house, rent a Dolly, Linus tech tip there). I appreciate the management reaching out and trying to help us out with the web form. I was in a very frustrated state of mind considering we had been out of hot water for several days trying to get a new water heater, and then to have the Rheem not work after we spent half of the day buying and setting it up. I was ready to pull my hair out because all I wanted was a hot shower. And the last thing I wanted to do was have to fill out a web form and disconnect all the copper tubes and PVC pipes and hoses to send the thing back and get another. Luckily, it was just user error, and a bit of weird design, but it's been working great so far after several weeks of testing. I actually hang out in the storage area near the water heater (where my computer desk is), and it's substantially quieter than the Richmond's start up sound and power vent operation. That was the main thing I was looking for since a loud water heater can make it impossible to focus when you're doing something next to it.

Ben was a great & very helpful with our heavy items. He even helped us load them into our vehicle.read more

When it comes to staining...well let's say I am the clueless wonder. Their customer service is excellent....both super friendly and knowlegeable. Bring in a sample of what you want matched. Bring in a sample piece for them to use to make the match and they will match it dead nuts on. I never tried oil based stains as I thought they were so much harder to work with. WRONG!! OMG...their stains are virtually foolproof. Not even kidding when I say they are pretty much idiot proof. They go on so smooth it's like magic. Prices are super reasonable. You pay no more there than you would at a bigger box store and on many items like good brushes they're cheaper. I can not say enough good about this store and its employees. I would recommend them hands down to anyplace else. My days of water based stain and poly and being pissed and frustrated are over. Oil based and custom mixed colors all the way now thanks to Hallman-Lindsay.

Only place in Janesville I know of that has Tung Oil (not "tung oil *finish*" - which is tung oil and poly). Their house brand rags are the best I've ever used - if you do a lot of wiping, buy your rags here. Their bags of rags are almost entirely made of the rags you pick through other bags to find when you want a decent one for your project. The sell Jen brand foam brushes for what you'd pay on Amazon. (Jen is probably tied for first place for best foam brushes. The ones at the box stores are essentially unusable.) The only negative-in-a-totally-selfish-way thing I have to say about them is they carry every paint thinner in existence from denatured alcohol to naptha to the most uncommon ones, but they don't carry odorless mineral spirits. Which is understandable because most pros prefer naptha for application because it dries faster and paint thinner for cleaning because it cuts better but I'm a sensitive fucking snowflake and need my thinner's stink removed. Their paints are as good as anyone else's top tier, with competitive prices, but if you're not a contractor it's the hidden costs of painting that really hit you and their prices on those are far lower than the competition for either the same or a better product (drop cloths, painter's pal liners, brushes, foam brushes, sandpaper, etc). Working with wood, I use a lot of oils, poly, spar, rags, foam brushes, and sandpaper. I know the prices on Amazon and at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Sherwin-Williams, and Farm & Fleet for all of them. H-L is the place to go. Also their staff is ridiculously helpful if you need it. And they carry Cabot wood stain and General Finishes milk paint - both of which are top end for what they do. 5/5 all day.
