STUDENTS BEWARE - DPT program Lebanon, OR is horribly run by admin . Don't have time to go through…read moreit all but will assist prospective students with the following. BEFORE each rotation make WU provide in writing the number of patient cases required to qualify. THEY DONT CURRENTLY DO THIS. Next - In writing, have the clinic and clinical instructor VERIFY, that the clinic confirms the patient cases to be completed. REQUIRE WU and CI/Clinic to provide you with your patient cases weekly so you know where you stand against the schools requirement. WU choose (WU control) the 3rd clinical rotation at a Hospital. The hospital placed student (hospital control) with a Clinical Instructor (CI) that had not been one for 6-7 yrs. She was a poor communicator, missed countless days over 11 weeks (WU shortened by 1 week) where the student was sluffed off onto other PTs at the last minute - (CI had control). To add, her schedule had countless appt cancellations (student - no control). Per usual - Student paid for the move, paid double rent for 3 months, rotation ends on a Friday and WU Grad was on Monday. Student qualified by completing CAPTE requirements. Student packs up and moves 1000 miles home, goes to take state exam and can't sign up, waits patiently. Student gets a call from DPT President 4 weeks later saying student didnt see enough patients and must re-take the FULL rotation 12 weeks - not just the missing hours/patients. Student will now miss window to take state & national exam by 6 months, will lose 4-5 months of good income and early loan repayment. Will finally start a new DPT job and immediately begin paying on a large 6 figure loan. Oh ya, not to forget, the student was on the last interview to get hired by her 2nd clinical location. So thats gone too.

Every year, Mt. Sac hosts a huge Cross County Invitational meet. This year, I was a spectator…read morewhile my son participated. The meet is touted as 'the world's largest cross country invitational' I hate to admit this but based on the website, I thought it was going to be a complete madhouse but it was so well organized! There is a parking fee (paid on site and in cash) and a per person spectator fee (which you can pay online or in person). My review is two fold- a spectators view and a runners view: Spectator: You're in a huge stadium, and while you can only see the jumbotron, you're basically getting a birdeye view of the race because there are drones and cameras on the course. The sports announcer gives everyone in the arena a play by play so you aren't missing a thing. Runner: My son said the course was nice- a combination of asphalt and trail running. There was plenty of merch available and it wasn't too overpriced. The t-shirts are nice quality. Overall, this is one of the most organized invitationals I've been to. Well done!

I enjoyed jasmine rice with gyudon beef, garlic green beans, salmon sushi, tuna rolls, veggie roll, a sesame dressing salad, and berries/pineapple. I chatted with some current professors at my table as we waited for the program to start and found out Oldenborg will be razed to the ground next year to be replaced by another modern building. Hmm hopefully newer also means better? The event today was beautiful.. Mao and Nobuko played a shamisen and biwa, respectively (Japanese string instruments), as well as a bamboo flute, along with singing, as they taught us about the history of traditional Japanese music. I learned a lot and appreciated the haunting songs in minor keys.

They had a wonderful time. Most of the people were welcoming and friendly. Some unfortunately were stuck up and rude but the kids didn't let it bother them. They enjoyed all the festivities and performances. They also got to be backstage and help with the performances. They had a bunch of different workshops. My twins and the theater kids had a blast!
