Hot toddies
Madie D.

Came here for a hot toddy per my parents' recommendation on a snowy day! While it was a tasty hot toddy, I heard their hot toddy earlier in the day had a lot more pizzazz and even a cinnamon stick in it. I did enjoy my time at harp and hound, but would have loved to have the same bartender that made their drinks extra special. The vibes were good, though I thought it was so odd that I had to show my ID at like 4pm on a Tuesday just to enter haha, the bouncer explained this is because they don't serve food but still seemed so quirky!

Stopped by for a quick lunch between client appointments and enjoyed it. Krystal provided excellent service, food was flavorful and prepared quick. They also have a full menu for plant based eaters which provides lots of variety. I was impressed how clean the restaurant and bathroom was.

We came here for dinner on a Thursday night. We started with the Brussels but they weren't good. They weren't crispy or roasted at all and the flavor wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend getting them. I also got the chicken Caesar wrap and it was alright. I wouldn't order it again but I wanted something light. I did enjoy my cocktails but I hardly ever don't like my alcoholic drinks so not sure it's saying too much. I'd try something else food wise if we went there again because we had heard their food was so good. I think I have to give it another shot but wasn't impressed this first visit.

First, this place is awkward to get inside. They have the little fenced-in patio out front but you can't enter through there. There's a small sign that says to enter two doors south. That door has a bunch of business names, but Harp and Hound is not one of them. You go all the way to the back (past people coming out with laundry and multiple other businesses) and you enter through what should be the back of the restaurant. We ordered the garlic fries, cheese curds, bangers & mash, a pizza, and the banger in a bun. Most of the food was so disappointing. The only thing I would really recommend is the garlic fries, those were tasty. The cheese curds were average, but the rest of the food was awful. Everything lacked seasoning and was bland. Most of the food we didn't even finish because it was just so bad. Definitely not worth the $65 that we spent on takeout dinner.

My gal pal and I went up to Ogden for a musical and stopped at Harp & Hound beforehand. It's found along a strip along Washington Blvd. It shares a corridor with other restaurants, so the entrance is a little confusing. The staff was very kind, especially the security guy up front who let me leave my water bottle with him since I didn't know it was prohibited. The food was good. All I needed was protein and veggies. I had the Cobb Salad with dressing on the side. I enjoyed the flavor of the dressing. I also enjoyed the appearance and layout of the bar. Hopefully I can come visit again as I wanted to try more items on the menu.

Shepherd's Pie

Great find! We were looking for something open late because we tend to keep odd hours. I went with the shepherds pie which was delicious! The potato to filling ratio did reflect the current economy with a bit more mashed potatoes than I'd prefer but the filling was so good that I really can't complain. My husband had the country fried steak which was a huge serving and so good. The Brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing. I'm always excited to find Irish food on a pub menu and I'll be back to try the Galway grilled cheese! If you're into bingo they have it on Monday nights, it's not my thing but it was still entertaining.

Happy Hour Food

Great happy hour deals. The food was yummy. The best carrots and celery were served with the wings. The service was great. Super chill and attentive bartenders. The chill ambience was nice, but it was a Tuesday. It seems like it could be busier on the weekends.

Do not get the burgers. They taste like McDonald's quality but worse. Cannot beg you enough.

Xalisco - Birthday cake

A birthday surprise I'll never forget!…read more This restaurant came highly recommended by a former employee, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we sat down, everything impressed us. I tried a mezcal cocktail for the first time, the blueberry mezcal, and it was incredibly unique, smoky, slightly sweet, and just overall delicious. For food, we ordered the corn, poblano tamales, and the chorizo steak burrito. Every bite was packed with flavor. Portions were generous, so much so that we ended up taking leftovers home (always a good sign!). But the true highlight of the evening? The birthday celebration. Our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything, and I casually mentioned a birthday at the end of the month. She smiled and said, "Leave the rest to me." I had no idea what was coming... Suddenly, the entire bar lit up? iterally. Flames shot up like a volcano erupting, the staff came out with fire, bubbles, and this incredible energy. It felt like a full-on performance. Then came a rich chocolate cake soaked in liqueur that was just as dramatic as it was delicious. It wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. If you're looking for amazing food, creative drinks, and unforgettable celebrations, this place delivers on all of it. We'll definately be back.

I stopped into Xalisco in Ogden on a random weeknight around 8pm and was a little thrown off when I…read morewalked in and the place was completely empty--no customers, no one at the host stand, just crickets. For a second I wondered if they were closed, but someone eventually came out and seated me. That initial vibe had me a bit concerned, but I stuck it out. I started with the chips, corn, and guacamole, which was decent, nothing mind-blowing but fresh enough and got the job done. The Cadillac Margarita ($20) was a disappointment though. It was basically a glass of ice with way too much lime juice dominating everything; I could barely taste the tequila. The Michelada was better, solid and refreshing, and the service was about the same: friendly and attentive enough once they got going, but nothing standout. But holy smokes, that asada stuffed burrito saved the whole meal. The asada was ridiculously tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Juicy, smoky, melt-in-your-mouth beef wrapped in a solid burrito. That one item alone made me glad I came. Overall, the place has some hits and misses. If the asada is what you're after, it's worth it. Just maybe skip the Cadillac marg and don't expect a lively atmosphere on a slow night. I'd go back for the burrito.
