Ordered wings, fries - delicious! Service is always hit and miss, rude. The mild sauce and their hot sauce is top notch

My husband placed an online order and went to the location and when he picked it up; he placed an additional order for me. Now, they clearly had his name because he picked up the online order and now has placed the second order in store. I sent my so to pick up the food and he told them it. was under my husbands name. They said they couldn't find an order under his name but then locate his old online order. The store remade the online order instead if giving us the new order that was sitting ready to pick up. When my son came home, I looked at the bag and new it wasn't correct because we had a big order(not the first time they gave us the wrong order, but okay). I called the store and the young lady that answered the phone said"ohhhhhh, we were trying to figure out what happened to the order". Keep in mind, my son waited in store for them to make the incorrect order , then had to go back to get the original. Here's the kicker...I asked the young lady how long had the food been sitting there because I knew we had sauce on the 18 chicken wings , an extra fry and a small catfish(not cheap). The young lady told me that it was under the warmer and still hot. LIeeeees! That was the soggiest chicken I ever had in my life with cold fries and chewy catfish. Instead of remaking my order correctly, they sent us food that had been sitting up for an hour....just horrible customer service. Why would you remake and order that was sent out already instead of giving the order that he paid for in store. I asked to speak to the manager and she had "just stepped out". Needless to say, I never got a phone call back from them. I try to support black own businesses but their customer service is horrible. They tarnish their brand by send out a cold and soggy $34 order that they could have just remade, especially since they gave us the wrong order. I know I'm only one customer, but me and my family won't be back! read more

My first time here and my last. I really just came because I was hungry after getting my nails done but anyway I told them Fried Hard with mild sauce and lemon pepper and the skin on my chicken came out so weird like they missed an ingredient and it wasn't seasoned it just had mild sauce on it. The chicken was really missing that Harold's taste. The mild sauce is good but the quality of the food is a no for me. My chicken tenders came out looking funny as well I didn't even eat them or feed them to my kids. read more

Ordered and paid online because when I called I was left on hold for 5 minutes. It's quicker to order online. When I got to the restaurant the guy at the register is on a call with a guy going over everything on the menu and didn't even ask us to be patient or acknowledge we came in. Guys in the back are just standing around holding a conversation. Upon receiving my order, they left out an item that I didn't notice until I got home even though the item was on the receipt. When I called back to inform them and ask for a refund since it was an inconvenience to go back at the time...I was left on hold for another 10 minutes. Harolds Chicken is wonderful! The mild sauce, which is my favorite, is put on top of the fried chicken, French fries, and slice of bread, is heavenly! Of course, you can get the chicken without the sauce, and they do have a spicy version, too. I can't imagine why anyone would give it a bad review. The price is very reasonable, too! read more

I come to this location often to eat! This is the best Harold's located in the Indiana area. With that being said, this year I decided to celebrate my 31st Birthday next door at the Private Harold's Chicken Venue. & I had such an amazing experience!! Kellie & Sky were awesome, they were very helpful and understanding to my fiance and I needs. The venue was beautiful and the bar tending services were great as well. Was there just this past Monday, 6/3/19. Ordered a small gizzard w mild sauce. Gizzards were drenched, drenched!, in sauce. It was ridiculous. My problems didn't end there. The typically sweet sauce had a very peculiar and strong vinegar finish. I've had heartburn for two days. Dog wouldn't even eat leftovers. The place had a constant stream of customers, young, old, black, white. My anticipation was through the roof! Now the only thing through the roof are the flames shooting from my chest. This Spot is a MIss & Miss my 2nd and last time supporting this location. I WILL NEVER RETURN To this location AFTER THIS INTERACTION my orders were not Cooked fully you could smell to RAW smell . I immediately called and explained to the young lady that I don't live close to this Location to come back and return I was frustrated and they were near closing anyway. I explained I could-take a picture of the food in garbage with garbage on top ! The young lady no need and explained to another worker my frustration and they agreed that they would put my name down as a one time replacement and they would replace my order and I could pick it up... call 1st - On pick up day which was within that week I called Harold and story changed to no record of my name or issue . I ask to speak with the manager "she was out getting Pop's", said worker ... and said call back again everything should be ok. Finally call back talk to Manager her name was D! ALSO everybody name was D !even when I asked for last name it was D! Finally call back to explain for like the 5th time the issue but now speaking with Manager D thinking that it was going to be a simple yes come pick up order . the Manager said no and that she would have to speak to the Owner ":WOW " Me - this was just a 20.00 order and the food was not cooked I would like to keep coming to this location, I own my own business as well. I work in corporate service and sales and I have integrity and understand how people try to get over this is not the case . Manger D- yeah well ...... I have to still talk to Owner . I said I will do you one better than that ... Since this has become a debacle I will dispute the charge with my bank all I wanted was cooked food that I Paid for ... and Look for my review on Yelp! and she said ":Okay that's fine in a laughing manner. To the owner this is how we fail , this is how you treat customers , if the manager you hired can't make a sensible 20.00 decision to make a customer happy and take ownership.... you will forever have business struggles . This is the worst food ever. The wings are on steroids and bigger than Turkey wings, they were undercooked and cold. I did an online order from the Harold's in Dyer. I ordered a large catfish dinner and a large perch fish dinner. On line it states that you get 4 pieces of perch in the large. When I got home, there were 3 very little pieces of perch. The catfish filets were small as well. When I called the store, the employee Hannah told me that it's only 3 pieces in the large and that's what it is. I told her that what is online should match what the customer gets. I told her that I would like to speak to the manager, but she told me that the manager was cooking. I told her I would call back the next day, which I did. I spoke to the manager and she told me basically the same thing. I told her the quality is not there and she told me that they take whatever is sent to them by the vendor. I will NOT be patronizing this store again. It costs me $21.00 for little pieces of fish that were not that good. When I expressed my disappointment, she was not apologetic. As I'm writing this review, the manager called me back with a different tone. She did credit my account and made the corrections on their website to reflect the correct amount of pieces in the price. I was surprised this location is pretty good. I walked in and ordered a chicken and liver dinner with mild sauce. They made it fresh and the wait was about 10 minutes. I didn't mind at all. Chicken was delicious and the livers we breaded well and not over cooked. My only complaint is they barely put any mild sauce on my food. I would have paid extra for more if I would have known. Maybe I'm just used to how much sauce 87th uses though. Will definitely order again. read more

I'm so disappointed..I usually order from them once a week for my parents..this is the second time in a month that I've been overlooked..I'm conflicted at how hard it is to tell a customer to give us a minute someone will be with you shortly..they used to have the sweetest help there but not so much now.. today I went to pick up my parents food & I waited patiently after they called me to tell me that my order was ready..I go in and there are 2 ppl in front of me..they order & then it's my turn..the young lady at the register goes to the back & then she returns..a young lady comes from the back looks over me and ask the ppl behind me did they call in an order..ummm excuse me yes I did.. We visited a Harolds Chicken around our house in Dolton and it was horrible to say the least. So we were looking online and seen the Harold in Dyer, In was ranked #2 in the Chicagoland area. It's about 15 mins away from us so we took the drive. When we got there the staff greeted us immediately and due to the current covid pandemic the seats were stack to the side to avoid dine-in. We placed our order and the employee took our number to call when the food was ready. After we went shopping at the Dollar Tree next door, we went back to the Harolds to check on the order. The employee stated he was just about to call us and that our food was ready. The smell of mild sauce and freshly fried chicken permeated throughout the car. When we got home the food was still hot. Everything was perfect!! The chicken was freshly fried and seasoned to perfection. The sauce was the perfect amount-hell! Even the coleslaw was slamming. When the young lady brought the order to me out of the warmer I saw that the 2 pints of Cole slaw were included in the bag. I asked her why the Cole slaws had been placed in the warmer with the chicken. Her response was, "I didn't bag the order". Not, I'm sorry Miss, let me get you some cold ones. I had to tell her that I wanted 2 cold Cole slaws. Then she replied, "We only have one left". I told her to give me that one and take the other one off my card. She walked over to an employee and said something to him . I then asked her how would I know that she took the charge off my card and she never gave me an answer. I left. To make things worse when I got home and tasted the wings they seemed like they had been reheated and had no crunch whatsoever! My Order was 36 wings, pan of fries and 2 pints of Cole slaw, What a waste of money! I was there a couple of months ago and ordered 36 wings and asked them to not put sauce on 10 of the wings. I was told, "We don't do that". Why is it that at many non-black establishments they seem to be able to make accommodations in an attempt to meet the customers needs? Such as, "of course we can do that for you Mam." "I'm so sorry you had to wait. I threw in a pie for your inconvenience" Or, "Would you like a free pop while you wait"? Black businesses want to be patronized but often are either out of products or have poor customer service or both. Needless to say I have deleted this Harold's Chicken's app from my phone.
