This place serves hk food with great "wok hei". Everything was delicious. We really enjoyed the clam soup, sweet and sour pork and salted egg yolk fried oyster mushroom. The portions were big and for the price it's great value. Combo deals are available at great price. The service was good. The owner recommended a few dishes. Claypot rice that's definitely worth the wait! If you haven't had it before, claypot rice is a delicious Chinese dish with savoury cured meats. Harmony Seafood offers the traditional meal with a wide assortment of cured meats, meatloafs, chicken to satisfy everyone's taste buds. I always love the cured meats (sausage + pork) paired with the meatloaf, both with different textures and flavours which go well with rice. The cured meats are packed with umami, which is only enhanced with the soy sauce drizzled over the entire bowl. You can definitely taste the underlying flavour absorbed into the rice during the cooking process, which binds the entire dish together. For a little bit of contrast, I get the meatloaf which is steamed and slightly soft. My fiancée loves the lamb, which isn't too gamey for the faint-hearted. During the cooking process, rice in direct contact with the bowl crisp up. Before you finish the dish, make sure to scrape the sides for the crispy bits of rice leftover. Honestly, this is probably our favourite thing about the dish. I LOVE to add a little bit of hot tea which serves 2 purposes: (i) softens up the rice just a little and (ii) adds a deep roasted complexity. You can definitely tell the dishes are made to order, because each of the claypot rice dishes take 30 minutes to arrive. Despite the long wait, once you've had a bite at Harmony Seafood, you'll know why there's always a line outside. I know the restaurant also offers Pork Stomach Soup hotpots which seemed to a BIG hit for the customers. I haven't tried that yet, but you can bet I'll be back. read more

Expect a wait even if you go at 6:30 to avoid rush because most people seem to eat early. Waited 30 mins for a table , not too bad. Ordered the pork stomach and pepper hotpot, Cantonese ho fun, and black bean chow mein. The wok hei was great on the ho fun. Super big portions for both noodles dishes. The hotpot was the famous dish, it comes with a whole chicken and pork stomach. You gotta pay for any veggies / protein add on. They will also top off more soup if needed. After watching this on YouTube, Hubs and I wanted to give this place a try. We were immediately seated after checking in. The restaurant is medium in size, with all of the tables being dark brown booths that can seat up to 4 guests, 2 on each side. Lucky cats adorn mounted shelves that are up on both of the restaurant's walls, small spotlights illuminating them and everything else. The rest of the restaurant is dedicated to potted plants, as they can be seen sitting atop booth corners, edges, and any other surface that can be found in the place. We ordered the following: Sweet & sour pork with fresh pineapple- Daughter said that she had to try it after watching Canadian vloggers tried it. She loved this and said it was crispy and saucy. She also said that she understood why the vloggers liked it. Hubs liked the fact that the meat was cut larger so that he wasn't eating crunchy flour. He enjoyed it, as well. Braised Egg Tofu and Yellow fin grouper belly- Grouper is usually Hubs' favorite, but upon eating it, he believes it's a grouper head and not the belly. It was mostly bones. Tofu was delicious and flavorful. He felt it was a ripoff and false advertising because of the grouper head. Let the buyer beware. Eel claypot rice- Hubs liked it and said it could've been a little crispier, but he enjoyed it. I liked it but I think I'm getting bored of eel claypot rice. We had ordered our claypot rice ahead of time and told them to start cooking it while we were leisurely looking at the menu. But, she came back 5-10 minutes after we ordered the rest to ask us if we wanted them to start cooking the claypot rice. That was weird because I specifically told them to cook it while we were looking at the rest of the menu. She told us that she had to look to see if they had the eel before they could start cooking it, which was weird because she didn't tell us this until 20 minutes after we sat down. Stir fried luffa, fish maw and clams with tofu- this was the shocking surprise of the night. We didn't expect to have a milky fishbone broth but this was outstanding. Hubs loved this dish and said that he hasn't had fish maw in 25 years. This reminded him of his dad. He also believed that these are littleneck clams because they're bigger than what we are usually served. Daughter loved the fish maw but said that it's an acquired taste. We were very happy to get to try the milky fish broth. We thought that we had to order their hot pots to get this broth. Imagine our surprise when we got it with this entree. We told the server that daughter has a peanut allergy and it was noted on our order. After we got our bill, Hubs attempted to tip 20% but our server stopped us and told us to tip 12% and it was enough because they don't get the tips and that the corporate gets it. That was a first for us, considering we were reading about servers chasing after the customers for more tips. Service was quick and friendly. We decided to come here for a late night snack/meal. This restaurant closes 1am while other restaurants already closed at 10pm. There were still many customers late at night . The staff are really nice. Surprisingly the food was quite good. We ordered the ChaoZhou oyster rice and oysters. It was our oyster themed night. The ChaoZhou oyster rice was amazing. Soup was super hot and lots of oyster pieces, a long with some veggies . Such a comforting dish, and also the oyster was fresh, and flavorful. We experienced clumsy services where dishes came in wrong due to language barrier; got yelled at with impatience when they tried to correct their mistakes. Yet worse was being threatened to call the police on us taking away the cash coupons they returned to us by mistake after we left the restaurant already. Decided to try Harmony Seafood after hearing good reviews of their Scarborough store from bloggers...well it was pretty disappointing. They serve a kind of Southern Chinese cuisine from He Shun, which is known for chicken hot pots and clay pot rice. Since it's pretty hot right now, we decided to go with the coconut chicken hot pot, which came with a big pot of coconut juice soup base and a plate of free run chicken. Note that you'd have to cook the chicken in the soup and since it's a whole chicken, that means there will be lots of bones. This is the authentic way of eating it so we didn't mind. However, you would have to pay extra for all the other hot pot toppings and that's when the bill really climp. I don't know how you can justify charging close to $10 for a serving of bok choy and shiitake mushrooms! We wanted to try more things since the coconut chicken soup was pretty plain but couldn't stomach the extra price. Service was quite slow as well. Maybe because we came for early dinner and the servers were still having their dinner before their shift. But by the time we wanted to leave, it still took some effort to flag a server down to pack the food and get the bill. Overall, not a great experience. The coconut chicken hot pot was quite light in nature if that's what you're looking for, but totally not worth it if you're looking to add more toppings to your soup. read more

We arrived the restaurant around 8 pm on a Tuesday night and it was very busy. Bumped into a couple from New York who was also waiting for a table. We were also from out of town so the restaurant does attract tourists. Ordered clay pot rice and crispy fried noodles.
