I recently visited Harmony Massage in Milpitas for a 90-minute massage using a promotional coupon. The ambiance was okay overall, although the room was very dark. The massage itself was fine, but the experience afterward left me extremely uncomfortable due to how the tipping situation was handled. At the end of the service, I only had a $10 bill and politely asked if they could make change. It was not because I was unwilling to tip or trying to leave only a $5 tip. I simply needed some of the cash for something else afterward. I was told they did not have change available and was then told I could use Apple Pay instead, which I was willing to do. However, once I mentioned the amount I planned to tip digitally, I was met with the comment, "Oh, the massage is not good enough?" which I found very unprofessional and awkward. At no point did I complain about the massage or say it was not good enough. The interaction made me feel so uncomfortable that I ended up just leaving the full $10 cash tip and leaving. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled completely changed the tone of the experience for me. I will not be returning, and I truly think staff should handle tipping situations in a more professional and respectful manner. read more

Booked a same day 90 min deep tissue appointment via phone call as their website wasn't working for some reason but that's okay especially as I was in a lot of pain since I pulled a muscle that morning. Going in, it was really peaceful and was greeted kindly. There was a bit of a language barrier but they were accommodating in using a translator to help. The massage was great and they were attentive to when I let them know I needed more pressure. If you have specific needs please be sure to communicate that with them so they know before the massage! My massage therapist was Eva and it was my first ever massage and I already want to come back! She was so attentive and very meticulous with spots on my body that needed more attention. I did the 60 minute massage through Classpass, my favorite part was the hot stone massage. I genuinely feel like she got all of my knots. She checked up on the pressure of her massage during the session and it did not feel rushed at all. She was so sweet and even recommended what I should do to alleviate my lower back pain, and also recommended me some teas to drink. Booked this place through a GroupOn ad. I didn't have many expectations. Upon arrival they set me up in the room and as soon as I laid in the massage bed, the lady began to step on my back!! Not only did it hurt, she was stepping on my tail bone and on areas which are extremely sensitive!! She did this for almost 15 minutes until i asked her if she would do an oil massage. She sounded confused and asked if I wanted to switch to oil, I said yes immediately. Why would you start back stepping without warming up the muscles??? She continued the massage and was pretty inconsistent throughout the session. The only decent part was the hot stones. At the end when I tipped her $10, even though I should've tipped nothing due to the painful service, she responded "only $10?" !!??. My husband proceeded to give her $10 more. I left feeling more pain than when I entered. It feels as if I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade and lower back. Wouldn't recommend coming, even for a cheap GroupOn deal. I am conflicted. The massage therapists are great, but I won't be coming back unless desperately to release tension and appointments are fully booked at other places. The reason is their massage table. I cannot breath at all. It is like lying in a coffin where you cannot relax bc your brain can't get enough oxygen. Whoever is the new owner is so cheap that they order table sheets that have an opening as bjg as a quarter that goes thru the head space. Bc its cloth, it doesnt hold open. You can hardly breath. My wife and I have been going there for probably three years straight. Once a month. The place is clean, private rooms or couple rooms. Very reasonably priced !! The massage therapist are nice and professional. I am shocked anyone would give a bad review. Meow Meow is always so nice on the phone and in person. Everyone there is always welcoming. They play the music at good volume to help you relax. Some of the therapists English is not that good but they understand what's going on and our very accommodating and helpful. We can afford to go anywhere we want but we really only go there and another spot. I can't say enough good things about this place. Although the massage was decent, I felt uncomfortable when I was judged on my tipping. I tipped $20 but she seemed unsatisfied while assuming it was only $10 : "only $10??" So in reflection, I came in to relax after my work with chronic pain issues, and typically appreciative of the effort given by massage therapists, but sometimes it is uncalled for poor experience. The lady who took my payment took an unnecessary photo of my credit card with her personal phone without asking me. It is an infringement of my privacy I did not consent to. I asked why but there was no explanation and I got ignored. I reported to the admin (another person of that place not present at the location) . Only to be told that the person messaged via WeChat regarding my info to know a simple thing as if they took my Visa or Mastercard because they weren't sure to surcharge to surcharge me $3 or $5. How can one not be sure, MC and Visa are common credit card in America. And really how safe is WeChat? Their admin told me it is a chatting platform and Chinese people use it. For that, it is still a questionable security issue and I am very annoyed when they replied with lots of laughing emoji, lacking attention to escalate better customer service. During the massage, the lady was interrupted a couple of times and they kept talking loudly. I didn't hear any soothing music. NEVER AGAIN! I called to book a massage session 4 days before. 1hr before the appointment, I called and asked if I could come 30' late? The lady said yes. I finished my errands early so I showed up on time and was willing to wait for 30'. The lady at the front desk was confused and we couldn't communicate due to language barriers. Another lady came and told me there's no one available. I was confused because I called ahead to make an appointment. These 2 ladies argued in Chinese for like 15', calling people, checking their phone. I just wanted to leave and didn't care anymore but then they walked me in, charged me for the service. They accepted Health Saving Account (HSA) card which is used for medical expenses so this massage is a medical service and the massage therapist is providing a healthcare service. The massage was mediocre, nothing special. Again, due to language barriers, I couldn't communicate my needs and she didn't ask what I needed. After the sevice ended, they called me to the front desk and pointed to the receipt where the "tip" is and gestured me to add up. I rounded up the cost, feeling upset due to poor services and now their entitlement to their tips. But then th e lady wasn't happy with the amount. My massage therapist, Tina, was only using one hand during the massage and I kept feeling the vibration from her phone messages. When she stepped out of the room to get hot stones, I looked up and sure enough she had her cellphone in her hand. When she came back, I asked her why she was using her cell phone, and she said she didn't understand English really well even though we communicated about my pain points. So after the massage I asked to be connected with management as they were not on site and the manager didn't seem to care that she was using her cell phone. Not honoring a birthday coupon I recieved from Harmony Massage Wow...this is the first time that I have left a massage parlor feeling tenser and more upset before I entered the place of business. Where should I start? I have been coming to Harmony Massage Therapy for about three to four years. For the most part, I had a good experience. It has been a while since I got a massage. I have not had a message since March 17, 2020, when COVID-19 forced everything to close. I decided to get an overdue massage, especially I recently received a happy birthday coupon on Monday, July 26 for half off for a massage that expires on August 2. On Wednesday, July 28, I entered the massage parlor and I was greeted by a polite woman who asked me to sign in. When I signed in with my phone number into their system, the coupon for 50% off birthday coupon popped up. The woman who greeted me at the door was surprised the coupon popped up. The woman asked me to me show her the coupon I received and I showed her the coupon on my phone. The woman took a photo of the coupon on her phone and called her boss. Over the phone, I explained to the woman's boss that I received a coupon via email letting me know that I have received a 50% off coupon. I came in a day before my birthday to get a massage. The boss told me she will not honor the coupon since I did not come to the massage parlor on the day of my birthday. I was shocked by the boss's answer. Nowhere on the coupon said that I can redeem only on the day of my birthday. I asked if I come a day after my birthday if the Massage Parlor will honor the coupon or any day before the expiration date. The boss over the phone repeated that they would honor the coupon on my birthday. I became extremely upset since it was less than six hours when the calendar would show it would officially be my birthday. I felt that I was misled since nowhere on the birthday coupon shows that it would be only good on the day of my birthday. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth with the management/ownership of Harmony Massage. If this is how the management/ownership likes to handle themselves I would more than happy to take my future business to other high-quality ethical massage parlors anywhere in Milpitas or throughout Silicon Valley. read more

Everything was great, room was clean and big, the ladies that massaged my daughter and me did an amazing job on pressure. Only downside and negative i asked for the stepping massage and my daughter a hot stone, it seemed rhe lady at front desk did not understand me and we ended upboth having hot stone massage. This made me not want to tip the suggested amount because it was not the service I asked for. DO NOT GO HERE!! The other reviews are exactly right. Terribly rude owner and extremely shady business. Messes up appointments all the time. They will lie and try to swindle you when they were the ones who overbooked and made the mistake. The owner is super, super rude, especially if you are a Groupon customer. This type of service do not deserve ANY business. Here is what happened: I booked a one hour appointment for 10:30am. I live quite far away so it was a 20-minute trip one way (40-minute round trip). Since it was my first time here, I made a wrong turn and ended up being 7 minutes late. When I got in, the reception lady said we can only give you a 20-minute massage until 11am. I said wait a minute, I wasn't going to drive 40 minutes today to get a 20 minute massage. Since I'm late, I'm happy to take just 50 minutes. Due to the language barrier, she got the owner lady on the phone (she was also the one who booked my appointment over the phone). I actually do speak Chinese but I didn't let on that I did. I wanted to see if something shady was going on. Over the phone, the owner changed her story multiple times. First, she said she can't take me because I didn't come 15-minutes early. I said you did NOT tell me when I booked I had to come 15 minutes early. How was I magically supposed to know that I had to come to an appointment 15 minutes early?! Next, she tried blaming me for being late and that's why they are not able to take me. I said I get that I'm late and for that, I'm okay with a shortened appointment time - 50 minutes. Then she said, well, then I can offer you 30 minutes today and 30 minutes another day. I said, no, it doesn't make sense to drive 40-minute round trip TWICE for two 30-minute appointments. I want a 50-minute session and be done! Then, she said, okay I can give you 40 minutes until 11:20am. I'm like WHAT?! I was only 7 minutes late. Why am being docked 20 minutes of massage time?!?!?!?! So this got me thinking that if I was here on time at 10:30am, I probably would only be able to go to 11:20am. Someone is obviously available but they can only go to 11:20am. Something fishy is definitely going on here... She was like well those are your two choices, take it or leave it! She then stopped talking to me. She was on speaker phone and started raging in Chinese about me to the reception lady. She said I came here solely for the purpose of causing trouble. Uh no. I came here to get a massage that your promised which I am not getting for some shady reason. Be aware if you don't speak Chinese! They will try to swindle you. After I got off the phone with the owner, I finally found out from the reception lady that they actually OVERBOOKED, so the last person to have shown up would have been turned away no matter when you showed up. Instead of admitting her mistake, the owner tried different tactics - blaming the customer, offering 20 minutes now and rest later, then two 30-minutes, then a single 40-minute. It is COMPLETELY shady. Through the whole process, the owner kept blaming ME and did not apologize ONCE for her mistake. Do NOT go here. Stumble upon this place last week after dinner at Chez Christina and dropped by to ask if they have couple massage. The lady who I assume is the owner was super friendly and was clear about the prices and scheduling so I decided to give it a try. Big mistake. I called in and made an appointment for a couple massage at 7 pm. Came in on time, paid for the deep tissue massage, and was taken to a room. I was on my way out to use the restroom before changing when I was informed that one masseuse was to start now and one will be in 10 mins after. I asked if we can start at the same time (like any other place and hence the word couple) but the owner said no because they had another client at 8 pm. I thought okay, no big deal. So the first masseuse started on me first and she was good overall but her technique wasn't comparable to other places I've been. Then came the language barrier which is ironic because they can speak better English then most Chinese spa places but for some reason, we couldn't communicate with both masseuses. And the last thing that was like the tipping point was at the end when I asked to exchange my $20 for two $10s from one of the masseuse who gave us water after our massage. When she came back, she ask if one $10 was for her and one for the other masseuse. We felt that the massage wasn't great so we only wanted to tip them $5 each. When I told her to keep one $10 and split it between them, she refused to hand us back the other $10. She insisted that $10 (25% tip) was the minimum which I'm sure was total bullshit since there's no sign like other places. My boyfriend talked to her but she still held on to our money so we gave up. It's obvious that we're never coming back here again. P.S. Not sure why so many people are talking about Groupon giving them reduced prices. The Groupon price is the same as in store. P.S.S. Worst experience I've ever had - and I've seen some real shady places. First, I called to make an appointment and followed up to confirm - when I arrived they didn't have my appointment and said "they forgot." Asked me to come back in 50 minutes. I came back in 50 minutes and they said they again forgot, asked me to wait 20 minutes. I'm patient, that's fine. I bought this massage on Groupon which states that it is a discount - it is not. Paid $9 more than what they regularly charge. I hand over my code and it is my turn. The woman assisting asked me to undress and get under the sheets. I lay down on the paper towel covered bed...and wait 10 minutes. Without knocking one of their employees comes in and just hands me a phone. The manager on the phone let's me know that they need another form of verification for Groupon. I state that this is a bit awkward since I'm naked under the sheets and the employee has the door wide open, but she insists on me getting my phone and providing verification right now (again, I'm naked, employee is there, and door open). I provide verification and turn to hand the phone back...employee is gone, door wide open . Finally get to the massage and was quite let down. The woman giving the massage couldn't understand where I was saying I needed work and that I didn't want softer pressure, I just didn't want her to jab her elbow into my spine and shoulder blades. She was seemingly very nice, but clearly didn't know what she was doing. So, after being overcharged, feeling quite exposed, and being jabbed, I felt this had gone quite poorly. Then, as I am leaving I provide a $5 tip. Not overly generous, but not nothing (12% of services charge plus the $9 paid to Groupon that was a lie on discount). The woman grabs my arm and tries to say that this is not enough and it should be $20 or at least $10. She is quite insistent, but not able to reason with since she does not speak English. The least professional, clean, relaxing, and worthwhile massage I have ever had. I know times are tough, but this was beyond anything I've ever seen. If you see the wireless store then you know that Harmony is 2 stores down on your right. We walked in and were greeted by front desk. She told us our option deals and suggest the** Deep tissue** which was the full body massage and highly popular. Deep Tissue is a 60 min massage and the regular price is $80 but the Groupon deal is $40 per person. They also offer many other options, just to name a few: ~Swedish- 60 Minute Regular price is: $70 and Groupon discount is $35 ~Hot Stone-60 minute Regular price is $90 and Groupon discount is $45 ~Acupressure- 60 minute Regular price is $90 and Groupon discount is $45 ~Walk on Back- 60 minutes Regular price is $100 and Groupon discount is $50 FACILITY: The facility inside is nice and spacious. They have chairs and magazines which they call the "waiting area" but we were assigned to a room right away and didn't have to wait. The facility consist of about 10 rooms and all somewhat spacious. MASSAGE: It was my first time getting a full body massage so I didn't know what to expect. I was told by the receptionist when she led us to our room to take everything off except our underwear, lay down on the bed and we will be taken care of in about 5 minutes. Sure enough 5 minutes came and it was time to get our massage. The two ladies walked in and turned on some nice relaxing music. It was 30 minutes with our back and lower legs then the next 30 minutes we turned over and they massaged our face, arms and bottom legs. EVERYTHING was so nice and relaxing. At one point, I felt myself going to sleep! HAHA! At the end of the massage the therapist left the room to get hot towels and removed the oil off our body. I liked that the therapist were talkative and gave me a chance to relax and have my eyes roll to the back of my head with the amazing touch! After our hour was up we put our clothes back on and once we left the room we were greeted by the therapist with a couple of water. We paid and left feeling like a brand new person! Whoohoo! Let me tell you this was both my friend's and my first massage ever so we didn't know what to expect. When we came I told them I made a reservation and they had no clue what I was talking about. So I signed us in like we were walk-ins. We get shown to the room and get ready for the massages. The massages were really relaxing. We got the Swedish massage and it was a full body massage. That warm towel when they were massaging off the oil felt nice and the music was calming. After a stressful quarter, I and my friend definitely needed this. They finished at exactly an hour, perfect timing. Honestly, people need to be more patient with the employees. They didn't speak English well and it was difficult for them to communicate. They were very sweet though and the massages were so soothing! Eventually we were able to pay with no problems and went on our way. I booked an appointment for myself and the BF for the same time, thinking we'd be in the Couples' Room. We were actually taken to separate massage rooms. When I asked about the Couples room, the girl said, "Four people in one room, air not fresh"... WTF haha, ok? Anyway, my massage was nice, but my masseuse spent a lot more time than I preferred working on my gluteus maximus. Is it just me or do they always lower your undies to slightly expose your crack? I thought that was weird. Granted, she DID do some work near my taibone. I should've asked her to concentrate more on my knots on my upper back near my shoulder blades. Mia was my masseur and she had amazing legit skills, good technique with just the right amount of pressure. She knows how to give a legit massage. I was on business in California and had just done a week of traveling from city to city and was feeling pretty beat up. Normally, I stop at those massage stations in the mall which charge $10 for a 10 minute massage in a chair. I saw a sign by the side of the road at a shopping plaza that advertised '$17/hour massage'. I pulled into the plaza and saw Harmony Acupuncture. It was located next to some established businesses and looked reputable. Just to make sure I wasn't going into some happy ending parlour, I googled it on my phone and the yelp reviews came up. Most seemed to be from women who went and had a normal massage. Other than one crank (who I really believe is a marketer for that rub dot com website) saying it is a happy ending place, everything seemed on the up, so I went in. You can never be too careful these days. ha ha When I walked in, I asked about the special. The $17 was for a foot massage in a chair. I cant imagine getting an hour long foot massage. The next least expensive massage was $35 for a Swedish massage (light pressure, mostly rubbing). I was a bit dissapointed to find out that the deep tissue massage was $40. I would be spending $23 more than I thought I would when I saw the street sign. I know it seems weird to expect an hour long massage for $17 ... but I thought it might be some kind of a special designed to get customers in. And there is a massage place up the street about 1/2 mile next to a grocery store that has a $19.95 massage special advertised. But since I was already inside, I decided to treat myself to the $40 massage. The massage rooms here are not relaxing ... they are sort of private with a door, but the unfinished top of the wall really is annoying because you can hear other people getting their massage. Also, I was in the last room near the wall and you could hear people doing dishes in the back room in a sink and beeping buttons on the microwave. Kind of kills the relaxation mood. The music is also not oriental all the time either. The massage was pretty good. The girl didn't talk much ... but she was strong. In fact, there were times where she put all her weight into my back with her elbow that I felt actual pain. I did ask her to do it hard, so maybe medium would have been a better request. She did my back and shoulders ... then spent a lot of time on the glute and waist. I would have preferred more back and shoulders ... and less legs. She spent a few minutes on the feet and then wiped the oil off with hot towels, which felt great. She then asked me to lay on my back and I thought ... uh oh ... thankfully, this was just so she could put some lotion on my face and do a 2 minute face massage. She also did a very blah 2 minute head massage which did nothing more than mess up my hair. The whole time, I had a sheet over my body except for the part she was massaging. Very professional. You pre-pay for your massage at the counter when you arrive. As you are getting dressed the hostess and the massage girl wait for you at the front door. They offer you a glass of water and tell you that it is time for you to tip. When I get a $30 haircut, I usually tip $5 and it is fine. They insisted $10 is the minimum tip. I've never been instructed to pay a minimum tip before. For this reason, I won't return. You see a sign on the street that says $17. Then you find out it will be $35. But if you want a deep tissue it is $40. Then the price goes up to $50 with the 25%+ tip. Suddenly, it doesn't seem like such a good deal. If I lived in town, I would try the one next to the supermarket the next time I needed a massage. I felt good after the massage ... but didn't have that Euphoric rush feeling after a really good one. Probably because it is hard to relax in that place with all the distraction noise (they keep the outside doors open too) and because my relaxation buzz was ruined by being fleeced for a $10 tip. There were 2 other men getting massages while I was there. A golf course isn't too far away ... so this might account for the heavily male clientel. read more

I would stay clear of this place. I don't feel as if they are harmonious in anyway. Summary: We scheduled during the weekend and had an appointment confirmed for Monday at 7p. We arrive on time and the front office staff said she couldn't find us in the system. She acknowledged that since she was not the person who booked the appointment the day prior that she could not see that schedule due to some login issue. And she said she could not accommodate use BECAUSE she had booked someone else 30 minutes PRIOR to our arrival. And when you ask to speak to the manager, she says well the manager only speaks Chinese, so there's no point for you to try. And let alone, why wouldn't you want to accommodate clients who booked a day before for someone who just booked merely 30 minutes prior? I'm sure they can wait 30 minutes more?! And the biggest problem, she could not understand the rationale for the frustration. Honestly, what kind of a business that operates in the US, cannot speak English? Why would you not have a way for people to escalate issues if the front office staff can't assist. Let alone if you know that you've had these system problems or issues for sometime, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO FIX IT? Besides turning away customers? I'd say, there are plenty of better places to go, who are more honest and quite frankly busier. You'll more than likely get a better bang-for-the-buck at other massage locations. Good luck if you decide to come here. Upon my review, no wonder they have 3 stars and less. I bought the $35 Groupon and they had an additional 20% for the day, so I only paid $27 for the Swedish Massage. I called to make an appointment that same day. When I came in, the receptionist told me that they offer the same deals as Groupon. The only prices I remember are $35 for Swedish Massage, $40 for deep tissue massage. She said that deep tissue would focus more on shoulders and back (which I needed), so I opted for the $5 upgrade. The receptionist had be sign in then directed me to my room. She told me that my masseuse's name is Amy. She told me to undress and I could keep my underwear on. What I really liked here was that their massage tables had a heating pad, so it was nice and warm throughout my whole massage. Instead of just a towel covering me, it was a full blanket that covered me from the neck down. Amy began with light massages on top of the blanket. Then she would fold the blanket according to focus on my back, arms, legs, etc. Every so often, she would ask me how the pressure was. The massage was definitely relaxing, I fell asleep for a little bit, lol! After the back massage, she left and came back with hot towels. She wiped me down then asked me to flip over. She gave me an okay face/head massage, wasn't very relaxing. Some things I didn't like about Harmony was their walls. Each room isn't fully enclosed. The walls don't go up to the ceiling, so you could hear everything going on. Although they keep the store pretty quiet, I could hear keys jingling as someone walked. Also, Amy sometimes used too much oil, especially on my back. When I was done. I paid the $5 upgrade and tipped Amy $10. The receptionist reminded me that they offer the same deals as Groupon.
