I started going to Harmony Family Chiropractic in Sep 2022. I had been receiving chiropractic care for a couple of years at Comfort Chiropractic and switched only because I had been missing my appointments and needed appointment reminders, which Harmony provides. I was excited about the technology and accuracy of the scans at Harmony. It confirmed the symptoms I felt. One of the goals became changing the curvature of my neck and my lumbar region to prevent further degeneration, and I was excited about that as my father had had 7 back surgeries, and I wanted to avoid that.
The benefits of Harmony are the vibrant and relaxing energy within the environment, Drs. Jaylene and Chris are great examples of the health they also want for their clients, everyone is passionate about all clients' health, Drs. Jaylene and Chris are great wellness educators. They reminded me of the benefit of stretching and when asked questions, they were excited about providing answers and literature for better understanding.
The 3 stars rating is representative of the recent incident I experienced. I had previously mentioned to Drs. Jaylene and Chris that a chiropractor in Charlotte, NC had adjusted my neck and I had complications because of it. In late October, my neck was adjusted at Harmony, and resulting from it was a headache for 2 days and numbness and tingling of my thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger of my left hand, and resulting weakness of my left arm. This effect has been costly for me as I've had to take off time from work, go to the orthopedic urgent care, see an orthopedic specialist and a neurologist, get a painful nerve conduction test, and get physical therapy. While the numbness and tingling have dissipated, I continue to have weakness in my left arm.
For all of the progress I made at Harmony, it was not worth the challenges I'm facing now. My neurologist suggested for me to pause chiropractic care for a while; however, with this incident and the challenges I'm facing now, I'm considering never returning to it.
I can't help but thinking if more experience may have made the difference and may have resulted in a more cautious approach with my neck considering my medical and chiropractic history. While I have history of carpal tunnel syndrome, I haven't had any problems with it since I stopped the profession which led to it over 20 years ago. My former chiropractor was always cautious with my neck and nothing like this had ever happened there during the 2 years of my care or the time before then when I first started seeing her ~15 years ago.
To the credit of Harmony, they did credit me the remaining balance from my account and credited me for the denneroll that may have been too aggressive for my neck. It would've been nice to receive an itemization of the costs beforehand with the corrective plan as my assumed calculation wasn't the same as the actual calculation as I had not included cost of the denneroll. I only took the total amount and divided it by the number of adjustments to see how much each adjustment would cost on average. read more
