Probably close to brand new. It's on one of the top-ish floor of the building which also includes apartments, offices, and restaurants. Make sure you park on top, right near the entrance, or staff will advise you to move your car. Check-in and wait time for my appointment was nominal, and my ultrasound and blood work went fairly flawlessly. The ultrasound tech was very friendly and walked us through the various parts of the baby she was looking at to check for which birth defects or development deficiencies. During the ultrasound the tech found a small mass in my bladder that was causing her some concern, so she called in Dr. Sarah Ellestad to take a look. Dr. Ellestad asked me some questions about my medical history and explained that she was concerned about it and wanted me to get it checked out further, which I totally understand and I respect her opinion, however she was a bit excited (maybe a liiiitttle less coffee for her) and got my husband who was also present a little too worked up about this mystery bladder lump, too. I don't know about you, but I prefer my medical professionals calm and level-headed. All that aside, I'm very grateful that the ultrasound tech found this small mass. It ended up being nothing, but had it been something bad, like cancer, I would have especially grateful that they found it early because I never would have known it was there. I plan on going back in a few weeks for my 18-20 week anatomy scan.

The on-call nurse told me that they "didn't have time" to see me because someone was on vacation. She told me that if my blood pressure got up to 160/110, I could go to OB triage (basically the ER for pregnant women), but otherwise I could not get any treatment. I put in an official complaint with Duke Hospital, reminding them of their previous medical neglect that I could have sued them over, and they magically had appointments available in the clinic. Lawyers shouldn't have to get involved to be able to schedule an obstetrics appointment. The doctor who did my induction was so awful, I ended up dismissing her.

This is my first review of a medical facility. I would never even think about leaving a review…read moreunless I felt very strongly. I had a horrifying experience at this location during my first 8-week ultrasound, where I learned that it was of uncertain viability. Both the ultrasound tech and the OB who came in to review the results after the actual test were so unbelievably awkward about delivering the results, and letting me know that I'd have to return for a follow-up ultrasound in a week. Sad news, of course, but also extremely common. They both acted as if they'd never seen a miscarriage or potential miscarriage happen before. As soon as we exited the building, my husband turned to me and expressed "why were they acting so weird? that was weird!". It wasn't just me, or me being overly sensitive. The biggest issue: Neither of the providers we saw that day advised me on what might happen next, and how to care for myself. They only told me to come back for a repeat ultrasound. In hindsight, I sort of rushed out of there without asking a ton of questions because I was so put off by their behavior, which can't be described as anything other than condescending. When I inevitably started spotting a couple of days later, I was left to take myself down the google rabbit hole to find out how to care for myself and what to do next. I ended up calling WakeMed to get advice, which in and of itself was another nightmare -- an endless maze of automated messages and voicemail boxes, and waiting for random providers to return your call. I got conflicting advice from multiple providers I spoke with, and ended up spending a day, probably unnecessarily, in the ER. The advice I got included "you definitely need to go to the ER" / "no, don't go to the ER"; "you're definitely having a miscarriage, you don't need to attend your repeat ultrasound" / "we can't confirm a miscarriage, you MUST go to your repeat ultrasound." It's shocking and insane to me that these providers did not at least counsel me to the effect of--yes, you'll return for a repeat ultrasound to follow up, but between now and then you might start bleeding and here's what to do." All of this has added so much stress to an already extremely stressful medical event. I'm appalled at the care I received here and would strongly suggest you STAY AWAY. No one deserves to be treated with condescension and neglect in this situation and there's pretty much no explanation for it.
