Regrettably, Harmon in New Rochelle has again closed. The history of the place is puzzling. It was a great store, and seemed to do well in its original incarnation but closed a few years ago. About 2 years ago it reopened, but seemed perhaps mismanaged: Their hours didn't extend as late as they might have, and their stock was often low -- both of these maybe as though they weren't confident enough about success and so they didn't want to put that much into it? If so, it's a self-fullfilling-prophecy story. Sorry to see them go (again), but, frankly, not surprised. read more

After Bed Bath & Beyond went kaputz, so did Bye Bye Baby and the distinguished, Harmon Beauty Supply (the last 2 under the Bed Bath & B umbrella). Where will I get essie nail polish? Where will I get my hair products that not even CVS or Walgreens carry? Where will I get my TRAVEL ESSENTIALS Harmon is famously known for??? Folks who relied on Harmon- like myself and so many others had to look elsewhere. And like magic, this Harmon, on Quaker Ridge in the North Ride Shopping Ctr- not far from the Hutchinson River Pkwy in New Rochelle, was resuscitated by a Westchester businessman who saw the need to continue. Hopefully other Harmon locations will reopen just like this one. This location has ample parking spaces and the inside, is just as spacious with wide aisles- something my local Harmon didn't have. I can easily spend a few hours losing myself in the hair aisle, nail polish, the makeup section- carrying all commercial brands like L'Oreal, Maybeline, etc and everything else for that matter. While I am not a regular Harmon shopper, I always appreciated the vast selection of products they carried (including some hard-to-find products), the cleanliness of their stores, and their extensive selection of travel-sized merchandise. The latter making it a go-to for me whenever I was planning a trip - I would go out of my way to shop at one of their stores. As such, you can imagine my sadness when I learned that all Harmon locations were closing as part of the liquidation of Bed Bath & Beyond (their parent company). Where was I going to get all my travel-sized merch? I made due, however I recently learned that this particular Harmon in New Rochelle was reopening, and since travel plans are on the horizon, I thought it was the perfect excuse to go check it out. How did this happen? Why was Harmon playing with my emotions like this? Someone queue up Here You Come Again by Dolly Parton. Based upon what I was overhearing while shopping, it seems that Harmon always did well, and that it was simply a casualty of BBB going under; they found a new buyer for the brand and will begin reopening their brick and mortar locations. This one in New Rochelle is the first one to open, and another one in Jersey is set to open later this summer. Walking in, I was greeted by the usual - the famous wall of travel-sized items, a vast selection of personal hygiene products, snacks, and cosmetics. I focused my attention on the travel-sized section, though I did make a few laps around the store just to take it all in. While they are still building up their inventory (specifically their house brand products), there's still a lot to choose from. Service was good, everyone was friendly and I was taken care of swiftly upon checkout. Overall, I'm impressed with the initial offerings that Harmon has, and am super happy to see they're back. This will definitely be my go-to once again for travel merch. read more

On October 3rd, I stopped to pick up a couple of items at the New Rochelle location on Quaker Ridge Road. I was in a rush and as I was leaving the store, the cashier said 'your welcome' in a very rude tone. I walked back into the store and asked her if there was an issue and she replied she felt it necessary to say 'Your Welcome', as I did not say 'Thank you'. I asked for her name to which she did not reply. At this point, I chose to return the items I purchased and then asked to speak to a manager. She called the manager over to process my return. The manager's name is Shea. I explained what had occurred and all she said was 'Sorry', nothing else. She handed me a copy of the receipt for my returned items and walked away. I do not appreciate being reprimanded by an ill-mannered, condescending cashier. Due to this experience, I will never return to this store or shop in any of their stores moving forward. A cashier's job is to ring up the merchandise, not give commentary. The customers control whether stores survive and in light of Covid-19, I would think retailers would not want to lose any additional business. There are many other competitors like CVS across the way from Harmon's, who sell the same items and who also provide coupons, as well as extend excellent customer service. I'm sure they won't mind taking my money moving forward regardless of whether I say thank you or not. I've never had this type of experience in a store and quite frankly if someone forgets or chooses not to say thank you, it's not up to the ill-raised children hired by Harmon's to question it. Last Saturday I went back to the store to get the cashier's name, and she was not there. No one was behind any of the registers. I then saw the "manager" texting on her phone off to the side. I thought I would ask her for the cashier's name but I didn't want to disrupt her texting. read more

I travel all over the world, and I constantly come back to shop at Harmon's for EVERYTHING. Move over CVS, Walgreens, and RiteAid, here comes big popa! Harmons has EVERYTHING: deodorant, make up, candy, professional blow dryers, toothpaste, socks, hairbands, SALON hair products like Brumble and Brumble, Redkin, Biologue, and it's CHEAPER than any other store. while dropping off a friend in new rochelle we made a quick stop at harmons and this is the place to get discounted goods from personal body items, travel size toiletries , snacks, phone chargers , cosmetics, and much more including a body wash from canada that smells like baby powder . the selection is vast and each aisle is filled with stocked shelves front to back. what was suppose to be a quick stop turned into a 30 minute visit and my basket is overflowing and its time to checkout . i spent about 60 bucks and it would have cost me 100 bucks if i went to cvs or walgreens. harmons discount is the place to go for your health , beauty , cosmetic, and more. read more

I travel out of my way to shop at Harmon. The prices are always better than CVS, they carry some products that are hard to find and they honor Bed Bath & Beyond coupons. Also, the Quaker Ridge Road location in New Rochelle has the most helpful and outgoing group of employees. You can always find help in an aisle and/or someone asks if you need some help finding something. read more

Talk about heaven! I get a little too excited when I go to the dollar store. Harmon Discount takes it to a whole new level. You can find anything you need here that you would normally find in a Rite Aid, CVS, etc. at much more affordable prices. The store is HUGE and very organized. It's great to shop before a vacation because, as Pamela S. said, they have travel-sized versions of all your hygiene and beauty essentials. Absolutely love the new Harmons on Atlantic Ave in downtown Brooklyn! Best drug store prices in the neighborhood - and you can use Bed Bath & Beyond coups for additional savings. Also great product selection well displayed in a large, bright, new, clean, well organized store. Customer service top notch ... friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff and store manager. This place is a great alternative to the abundance of overpriced, crowded, and poorly stocked drugstores in my neck of the woods. Even better, they accept Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons, expiration date be damned! Given my aversion to paying more than I need to for essentials in hyper-expensive Westchester County, I'm more likely to accept poor customer service as a trade off for cheap prices, but Harmon's actually surprises me. The associates here always greet me and ask if I need help and the selection of organic, drugstore, and high end nail products are great. My only complaint would be about the parking lot-spaces are tight and people are pulling out all over the place without looking so watch where you walk! read more

Always shop here but will not again after the last 2 times. The girls they have working the registers are rude and condescending. They talk to each other about totally inappropriate things as they check you out. The cashier Tiffani only muttered 2 words to me "any coupons" no thank you, nothing. This used to be my favorite Harmon's to shop in but no more. i used to really enjoy this store but no more. Spacious selection, second rate service. The product options were infinite. On the other hand, I was displeased with the atrocious attitudes displayed by staff members. I had tried on a lip product that said "TRY ME", once at the register to buy two products, the employees were talking about me above a whisper in an obvious endeavor to embarrass me stating, "Where the hell did she try that on??"
