After the first visit - replaced dead RAM and a failing hard drive - I picked up my computer but was still having power related issues (shutting down in hibernation). Brought the computer back with no problem and they replaced the power supply for no additional labor. When getting a computer fixed, you wonder if you'll get charged for whatever "seems" wrong. I got the impression the employees were trained and motivated to give the best customer service and experience possible, not just charge the customer as much as possible. Great local business experience!

Bryan diagnosed my factory-refurbished, less-than-a-year-old laptop as having a defective motherboard; thankfully, the hard drive was untouched. He walked me through the issue in layman's terms that I was able to understand. Upon my request, he was able to offer two excellent alternative options for laptops that had the same specs as my old laptop but were less expensive; he is able to order the laptops through a wholesaler and receive price reductions. He conducted a data transfer from the old to the new laptop for $100 and offered the old hard drive as a back-up device. The whole process, from the time I dropped off my laptop to the time I picked up the new one, took four days (minus the time it took for me to decide on a new laptop). I highly recommend Cook's Computers. They are reliable, communicative, and clearly fair.

I built my own PC from parts, for example. Recently I came across an issue that, try as I might, I could not solve. For about two weeks, I ran every test I knew of, searched the Internet for ideas, wiped and reinstalled the HD, all to no avail. Lacking options, I brought my PC into the local shop, Saba Solutions, due to it's good reviews here and elsewhere. They did not disappoint. While it did take several days, the shop was able to diagnose the issue and fix it, all the while providing daily feedback via email. It is service you will not get at the chain shops like Geek Squad. Then, when I went to pick up my newly-repaired PC, Saba charged me a price that was maybe 1/3 what I expected to pay. Don't be put off by the small storefront and utilitarian interior. This shop knows it's stuff and the price is right.
