Situated in between Halesowen, Rowley Regis and Blackheath, this barbers is an extremely popular choice amongst those living around the surrounding area. I have been visiting Grade #1 for a number of years now and have always been impressed with the service provided and the end result. As a matter of fact, my haircut this morning is living testimony of this. With some places charging up to £15 for a simple trim, Chris at Grade #1, charges £6.90, a price I am yet to see beaten, anywhere. Not only is the price extremely appealing, but the establishment itself really highlights the atmosphere there. Whether busy or quiet, Chris (the owner) is a sociable outgoing guy, who enjoys a chat, whether it be about work, football or anything in between. A single chair sits in the barbers, with only Chris cutting hair, highlighting the kind of environment promoted with in the place. Overall, the barbers itself, as well as Chris make Grade #1 Barbers the perfect place for gentlemen to head for a haircut. 100% recommended.

It normally gets to the stage when I'm walking down the street and feel my hair at a certain point, I'll just walk into the next hair salon I see. However, having passed The Barber's Shop on several occasions, I made a mental note to make use of their services the next time my hair inevitably reached the point where I ceased to look like a human and more closely resembled some sort of yeti. The Barber's Shop is the best of both worlds, modern and sleek, but designed to evoke the classic, traditional barber shop feel of a bygone era (complete with spinning pole outside!). They've got various Birmingham City Football Club merchandise on the wall, giving the place a real local feel. The look isn't the only thing reminiscent of days gone by; the prices are fantastic, just £7 for a gents cut. I've never even had to wait when using The Barber Shop, but should you have to, there's a great selection of magazines and some cushiony sofas to occupy you. One of Birmingham's best.

Not the kind of barbers I like to visit if i'm being totally honest…read more The only haircuts I see coming out of this place are those who have gone for the skin head look or at a push, those who have gone for a more creative approach with a short back and sides, quiff left at the front. My only experience of this barbers was a painful one, after asking for a scissor cut and for my hair to be thinned out, I was presented with some clippers almost shaving the back of my head. Despite asking for an alternative, the language barrier seemed to prevent us from reaching a mutual agreement. As I was in a rush, and my usual hairdressers was shut, I let him continue. Needless to say I was not happy with the results. Despite not being overly expensive, the whole experience itself was not pleasant and one I won't be repeating any time soon.

The dreaded day arrived…read more.. I was in drastic need of a haircut and to my horror; my long trusty hairdresser had gone on holiday. Despite panicking like never before, I rang my brother and asked him where I should go. Holding back the tears, he suggested I go to HQ on Kent Road, a five-minute walk from our house. I took his advice and walked down, to me met by a huge queue. On one hand, I was happy, surely if this many people were waiting, it MUST be good. On the other hand, I had stuff to do and wanted to be quick as possible. After a 20-minute wait, it was my turn. I had butterflies, I was sweating, I was nervous. I asked for what I usually have and to cut an extremely long story short, everything turned out okay. Not so much that I would leave my trusty barber Chris, but enough for me to leave with a smile on my face. The hairdresser was quick, polite and although it cost me a fair bit more, the service offered was that of a hair studio, not a barbers, so I wasn't one to complain.

I knew (because of the name and the blood on the sign) that this would never happen here. The new papers would have it too easy to report that someone's been hurt in Xteme Cutz 3 so i knew these guys would be good for it. "Cut throat Shaves" and "Haircutz" are on the menu here and oaps have special rates. The salon its self looks clean and has these great blue neon lights hitting all the walls giving the place a really new age feel. I asked for my hair to be shortened and thinned (it gets really fat and bushy) and normally hair dressers take this as a que to shave all my hair off and laugh at me as i have to pay for it, but the stylist here always let me know what he was doing and kept asking me how short it was going to be. Walked away happy, paid less than a tenner for the service. Not bad at all.

It is all bit boy-racer-meets-Sweeny Todd for my liking. The neon lighting puts me on edge as do the pictures of some of the styles on offer. Fancy a Nike tick shaved on your bonce? Head to Xtreme Cutz! It is like the nineties never left us. With it being a barbers, and me being a woman, I've not had a haircut there. But let's just say I'd be a bit worried if my husband booked himself in for a trim. Then again, they seem to be good at what they offer.

Each time I have been extremely impressed with the level of customer service provided, even towards myself, merely an observer. My girlfriend in particular is a big fan of Cabella, as are the majority of the locals living in the Oldbury area. Every time I have been, I have been offered a drink, which for men is a big change from the typical 'barber' atmosphere. Despite holding a fairly intimate client base around the surrounding area, Cabella remain welcoming and friendly to everyone who walks through the door, including myself! Some logistics now, you can expect to pay £50-£60 for a colour, cut and blow-dry. The staff seem well trained in their field, offering valuable assistance to their customers as well invaluable ideas to those who are indecisive. Despite Cabella's being unisex, I am yet to personally have a haircut there, as I'm to loyal to my barbers, but maybe in the future, especially with this review, I may be persuaded to give it a try!
