Great experience setting up our trust )hence the 1 star)…read more About 15 years later, my husband wanted to make a change to his beneficiaries. She wanted to charge us more than the original cost of setting up the trust to make this minor change because they got "new software".

Kristin is very knowledgeable and was able to provide guidance upfront on how to deal with some of the anticipated issues we'd be experiencing. While legal help can be expensive, I can genuinely attest that the fees we were charged were reasonable for the service provided-the one time we had an issue with an item on the Bill, my wife spoke with Kristin's assistant Alana and straightened out the charge in a few minutes. We eventually got pulled into a Probate Case which was contested in another area of Michigan, so it wasn't convenient continuing to use Kristen's services. She provided good service to line us up with an attorney in the area of the Court who did a good job handling us and bringing the case to closure. Let's face it, dealing with Probate issues is usually about as much fun as having teeth pulled. You're often locked in contentious battle with siblings and other family and that can be pretty unpleasant-it sure was for us. Throw in that any engagement of legal services is expensive by the standards of most of us, that can make it very stressful. But I feel that Kristin gave us good information, supported us well and represented our interests well. When it became obvious we needed an attorney in the region where the Probate Case was filed, Kristin did a good job finding us an experienced attorney in that area. We were pleased with the support we received from Kristin.

I hired Shaun Whitehead on a limited-scope basis for my child custody case, and looking back, it's…read morenot something I'd do again. I had months of documentation built up -- messages, records, a long history I needed him to actually understand before we walked into a hearing -- and I never felt like there was enough time or effort put into getting there. Most of what I dealt with went through his assistant, not him directly, and when I did get him on the phone, it felt more like I was being questioned than actually being heard. At one point I was told I "wasn't fighting" for my son, during months where I had documented every single attempt I made. That one stuck with me, because it felt like it came from someone who hadn't actually looked at what I'd been doing the whole time. There was also a moment where a scheduling change affecting my parenting time got agreed to without much explanation or pushback on his end, and when I brought it up afterward, I didn't get a real conversation about it -- just more questioning of me. I ended the representation before my hearing even happened, and I'm glad I trusted that instinct instead of pushing through it. Since then, my case has moved in a completely different direction, and things are going well. Looking back, I think the bigger lesson for me wasn't about this one attorney specifically -- it's that a complex custody case with a lot of history and documentation needs someone who has the time and the scope to actually learn all of it, not just show up for one hearing. I'd think hard before anyone does limited-scope representation for something this involved. This is just my own experience, sharing it in case it helps another parent make a more informed decision.

From the moment we met David, he made us feel completely comfortable and at ease with a process that can otherwise feel overwhelming. He took the time to get to know us, understand our needs, and explain every detail in a way that was clear and easy to understand. What really stood out was how personable and genuine David is -- it truly felt like he cared about helping us make the best decisions for our family. We spoke with a few other attorneys before finding David, and honestly, none came close to his level of professionalism, patience, and warmth. If you're looking for someone who combines expertise with a personal touch, we can't recommend David Wakefield and his team highly enough. He made what could have been a stressful process feel simple, smooth, and even enjoyable.
