07.07.23 Gas City In Location - Breakfast. General review to start with of Hardee's as a whole -- If you make an app then make it so the coupons that you send out can be used on it. It eliminates the convenience for the customer and increases the traffic in your parking lots if customers have to go and sit at the drive-through or go in and order their food to use a coupon. Store - 1. Parking lot was acceptable - No trash lying around - not many customers to speak of. Employees apparently are allowed to park directly across from the entrance which takes up customer parking IF the store would ever get busy. 2. Outside of the building was adequate - appears to be we maintained. Staff - 1. The employee that was at the drive through should be fired immediately. If she treats most customers the way she did us it explains a lot as to why the place doesn't do a lot of business. Food - 1. Biscuits over baked - dry and crumbling. 2. Sausage gravy - not cooked through enough - still tasted powdery. 3. Chicken biscuits. Over cooked or microwaved chicken which made it stringy and chewy. See #1 for quality of biscuit. 4. Pork Chop Biscuit - Flavor wise it was good. It was soggy - they put gravy on the one side so obviously you expect that side to lose its crispness but the other should have some crispy parts. At least it was decently cooked so it wasn't dried out. See #1 for quality of biscuit. 5. Hash rounds - greasy and somehow mushy. No salt was applied after they came out of the fryer. 6. Hard to screw up a flat egg but somehow it was overcooked. Interaction - Of course we had to go to the store to place the order instead of doing a mobile order because of being unable to use coupons in the app. When placing the order we ordered the Hardee's breakfast platter which in the app offers the choice of "Bacon, Sausage, Country Ham, Country Steak, Chicken Fillet, Pork Chop, Smoked Sausage". There is an increase in price of the meal according to what is ordered as the side -- Bacon or Sausage $5.09, Country Steak $5.49, and Chicken Fillet $5.99. The app itself will l however only allow you to order Bacon, Sausage, Country Steak, or Chicken Fillet which is what should happen IF the rest isn't available at that time. We ordered the Chicken Fillet. We were immediately informed med that "we don't do that here". We replied that yes in fact you do because we just ordered it that way less than a week ago. "The only reason that you got it that way was because it was a mobile order and I was being nice". From a previous HORRIBLE dinner from the same store we know it is a MAJOR ISSUE to get a refund for crap service or missing food. The store argues that they don't get the money so they refuse to refund or alter the order if it is place online or in the app. So in essence this employee just told us that the store would steal a customers money if you place the order online and they didn't "feel like" doing the order as it was placed. How many times does this store (and maybe others) steal from customers and it isn't called out???

    Delightful.

The restaurant was a lot more kitschy than I was expecting, which I loved. Our waitress had a wonderful energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had several unique items. I ordered a Scottish soda called IRN BRU. I love trying food and drinks from around the world. It tasted like an Orange Crush soda. Our waitress said they were known for their Cauliflower soup. It was cold outside so soup sounded perfect. I also got a pepper jack grilled cheese. The soup came in a huge bowl. The combo of the soup and grilled cheese was very filling. My friends ordered the sticky pudding. I had a bite and it was delicious. I cant believe it's taken me so long to eat here. I throughly enjoyed it and cant wait for my next road trip.

It's a few minutes off the highway, but certainly doesn't feel like you're in Gas City, IN. It looks like they added on an outdoor space recently. Nothing too extravagant, but nice enough for lunch. A nice younger man took care of us on the patio. The menu was quite eclectic and unique. The tortilla chips and cold bean dip was a great way to start. Both our soups were fantastic....cheddar cheese for one and leek soup the other. Fish and chips hit the spot and apparently a fan favorite. My wife had the club sandwich of GF bread. Great little local spot if you're ever in the area.

Beware...the crowds are big and the lines are long. But...it's worth the wait!! At the bottom is a medium sized cube of slightly warm shortcake. It is moist, sweet and slightly firm. The top of the cake has a thin layer of almost crispy granulated sugar - more sweetness! The bowl is piled high with fresh, lush, red strawberries. Some sweet, most firm and a little juicy. A good sized dollop of vanilla soft serve and whipped creme lay on top. The combination is delicious! It easily feeds more than one dessert lover for about $9.50. Strawberry Shortcake marks the start of spring season. Make a special trip to Upland to visit Ivanhoe's if you have never been there!

Next to us, a booth with approximately 4 to 6 people in it were having a conversation. One gentleman in the booth decided he wanted to use the f word four times within 3minutes. I ask him to please stop. And I ask him if he would use that kind of language around his children or his grandmother. His response was these are my kids. A A young girl, approximately ten years old was sitting in the boot, and I assumed that was his daughter. While talking with this gentleman, he became rather aggressive. And I stood up I just said please watch your language, please. I don't like it around my wife. At that time, one of the assistant managers at Texas Roadhouse came over and said we can't have this here and ask if I wanted to be moved. I informed her that we were not moving. And that if you wanted to move the other people that would be her decision. Later the main manager came up and spoke to us about the situation and apologized for the actions of his assistant. He stated that he did not believe that his assistant had acted in Malice. He then offered to comp a meal and I told him that was not necessary but if he felt that he we should do so that would be all right. While the manager did come back and talk to us and confidential and I appreciated those actions the main part was the actions of the other patron. Behavior like this should not be tolerated within a good establishment such as the Texas Roadhouse. We did notice that while we were eating the other individuals involved in this were either asked to leave or decided to leave. I sincerely hope that this individual will recognize what he had done was unacceptable and was inappropriate in front of his children as in the wider audience of those at the restaurant. I will continue to eat at Texas Roadhouse. The one in Muncie never seems to have these problems. I surely hope this was a isolated incident and will not occur again. In closing I just want to say words matter and should be carefully considered before spoken. Treat everybody with respect as well as your own family and those around you.
