Burger Bar - The I Can't Help It with Sweet Potato Fries

While driving through town, I noticed an old-school-looking burger joint. Curious, I quickly…read morechecked the reviews while waiting at a nearby traffic light and, seeing they were quite positive overall, decided to park and give it a try. The ladies working inside were extremely friendly and helpful, which was a great start. Their menu is incredibly unique and fun, featuring a wide variety of amazing burgers. As a fan of spicy food, I was pleased to see several options that catered to my taste. My server took the time to explain how they roast hot peppers to create their own unique blend, which I found very impressive. I decided to go with the Cold, Cold Heart burger, primarily because it included jalapeños. Although tempted by the Fire God Burger, the combination of scorpion and ghost peppers seemed a bit too intense for me. My burger was prepared quickly while I watched from the counter, which was a nice touch. The fries that accompanied it were excellent--slightly thicker than regular fries with a delightful seasoning. They were served piping hot and crispy. The highlight was definitely the burger itself. It was outstanding! The jalapeños added a lovely flavor without being overly spicy, and the bun was exceptional--soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. The meat was substantial and perfectly cooked. For condiments, they offer squeeze bottles from the fridge upon request. I opted for mayo on my burger and experimented with ketchup and mustard separately to see which I preferred. Honestly, the burger was delicious with or without the additional condiments. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would highly recommend stopping in. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

The service is always excellent. The waitresses are always so friendly. The cooks are very nice and seem like such good people. I think next time I will just go in for the shakes and skip the burgers.

We were told there was going to be a 15 min wait, but we're seated with five minutes. We got crab Rangoon, which was delicious. The portion was fairly small for the price. But, fortunately main courses followed soon after. I got the pad thai and it was really tasty. I chose tofu as the protein, and they went fairly light on the tofu. Also, I'm used to my pod Thai having a few more bells and whistles, like more greens, sprouts, and more than one lime wedge. But, it's on me for not requesting extras of those things. I ate all of my food. The portion was just right for a sit down meal and that worked well for me because as a tourist who was bopping around town, I did not want to have a to go box. Service was friendly and attentive. The place was pretty big and fairly loud, but the tables were spaced well between each other so we weren't impacted by the noise on either side. If you're trying to find a place that multiple people will agree on, this isn't a bad choice because they have a variety of different cuisines. Overall, I would definitely stop back at some point, though I might not seek it out as my top choice for a place to eat in the area.

Last time, my food was way too salty, which seems to be a trend for many Tennessee restaurants. This time I got sushi and it was quite good. Partner got a chicken dish which he enjoyed. Love the dimly lit bar area. We will be back!!!

Delta Blues BBQ - Pulled pork sandwich and fries

We stopped in on a weeknight and almost thought this spot was closed because there were no…read morecustomers. But then, we walked by on a night when there was live music and the place was packed. So, the customer base is there! Ordering is done at the counter and it was easy enough to do so. The person at the front also clued me in when I mentioned that there were cheese grits on the online menu. Apparently they don't have them on the in-house menu because they only sometimes have them made. It was my lucky day- so I got the cheese grits, the corn, mac & cheese, and fries. I loved the spice level on the corn- not too much but enough for real flavor to come through. The fries were good- and the portion was huge. I could have easily shared and walked away with a pretty heavy to-go box. The cheese grits and mac & cheese were lukewarm, but I didn't correct the problem, so that's on me. Both the mac & cheese were good, but not great- the cheese grits needed a flavor punch. The mac & cheese noodles had gone a little too soft, so the texture was a little off (flavor was on point though). I did love the blue cheese dip and chips appetizer. The portion was hearty and it is definitely a sharing app! There were things like straws, napkins, and a to-go box where we did have to go seek out the front counter staff. I think it was meant to be self-service, but the things we needed weren't out and we didn't get checked on. So, that part was a little confusing. I think that they just needed to restock their self service area a bit and hadn't yet. Overall, solid spot! I would pop in again for sure!

I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich with a side of fries and a soft drink. The soda I got must've been low on carbon bc it was awful. I rinsed my cup and got sweet tea instead. I only like super sweet tea and this should've had an octane rating lol. When my food arrived my initial thought was that the fries were huge. Unfortunately my BBQ sandwich wasn't as warm as it could've been but I never said anything. The fries were so fluffy inside I could've eaten a pound of them. Like I said it was dead in there that night but if there had been live music it would've been packed. Staff were nice, place was clean, and had a great vibe.

I suppose proximity to the Va Creeper Trail encouraged this as I could see folk holding up a table whilst waiting would be a potential issue. We were seated promptly and given menus and served water and sodas. The rock music was pretty loud for the restaurant, which has some smaller rooms that are serviceable but cramped and a bit echoey and dark. By 12:35 our order was in and by 12:51 on our table. The table has a nice individual light, and a bottle of water on the table. Unlike some other local restaurants, soda refills are free and a pitcher was brought by the table to serve refills of diet coke. What was not good was the large beer poster of the St Paulie Girl with her nipples hanging out. I realize these are beer posters and I realize they are German and things are different there. But this was a prominently placed poster. I just wouldn't think a place where a lot of families dine would put this in such a prominent spot, or any spot really. I'm not a super prude, I just raised three sons. So the sandwich though, was very good.
