Hungry? Not sure where to get good food? If that's the case,…read morethen take it from me, a guy like yourself who searched with despair through the limited dive bar and tavern food options in these north woods for anything that would possibly surprise my tastebuds with the sensation of enjoyment. Good? Okay? Mediocre... my search became desperate and the bar even lower the further out I looked from my location until I came across Chick N Rice. What's that? Pictures of food that look appetizing? It must be too good to be true. It must be AI generated. But I am out of options, so I took the long drive... First came the Lemon Coconut Soup. With one bite, years of bad food experiences that created Up North food PTSD came crashing down... next came the Hot Chicken sandwich. Friends. With delight I would like to inform you, Chick N Rice does not disappoint. They do not settle. Made fresh to order. And with decades old family Recipes made the way they did back in Thailand. My only regret is that I don't live in Brainerd, and to enjoy this delish food requires additional trips back. But I kid you not, if the lakes weren't enough, this food makes it worth the consideration! Enjoy!!

My friend had 1/4 chicken & 2 sides. The fries would have been good, but the package wasn't sealed and so the fries were cold. I ordered Chick N Rice, and was surprised to get instead 1/2 chicken. It was delicious chicken. I give them that. Wouldn't have minded receiving the white chicken promised on the menu. The food is good. Perhaps better in person?

They told me this is their brand new location. The inside is bright, clean, and new. They had a great layout to build your burritos or bowls and the prices were fantastic. I got the steak burrito bowl with cilantro rice, black beans, queso, and veggies. Everything was fresh, clean tasting, and tender. Though the steak was super tender, it was a little salty, but it balanced the fresh vegetables nicely. Great dinner!

There's garbage all over the floors, i don't know how many times we have had to clean off our own table. Smashed fries on the floor. We gave it another shot and it went back to being bad. I'd say worse now. I thought Culver's was different. But this is like really really bad. Makes me wonder how the food quality is if the restaurant is this filthy.

I had a very basic order last night after arriving back home in Brainerd: 3 hard shell tacos and a…read morehalf pound of potato oles. Naturally, the young teenage girl fulfilling my order at the drive-thru did not include the potato oles. By the way, for the uninitiated, those are flattened tater tots with seasoned salt. The tacos were cold by the time I parked, went in to correct the mistake and get my potato oles, and got home (5 minute drive). The shells seemed old/stale and the lettuce a bit scraggly. I love Taco John's from way back, but maybe I'm thinking it's just not that good and I was deluding myself as a teenager, sheltered in a backwater town and not knowing any better. This presents me with an existential crisis that I'm not going to unpack or look into any further.
