I was really disappointed in this location. The women's changing rooms and bathrooms were gross and…read morerun-down. The floors and walls could really use a deep clean. I was most disappointed in the workout room upstairs though. They have more classes than the East Vancouver location, but the room at the Hazel Dell location is half the size, and the A/C apparently hasn't been working for the past three months. They propped open the two doors and placed a single box fan at the entrance, but that's it. It got so incredibly hot and stuffy in there with all the bodies in the room. It's honestly a safety hazard and completely negligent on their part. Someone almost passed out during a previous class. How has it been three months and they still haven't fixed the A/C?!

I had a personal training session with Bryt a few days ago. He was not only very knowledgeable but…read morehe was a great guy too. He took the time to ask me about my personal fitness goals and gave me a detailed road map of how I would accomplish them. During the personal training session, he had me do some exercises that I normally don't do, nonetheless, it gave me a good idea of some exercises to do to increase anaerobic activity, core strength, and stability. After the work out he took the time to get to know me and I was able to get to know him too. Overall, he was very friendly, personable, and I highly recommend his services to anyone interested in personal training. So far, I have greatly enjoyed my membership with LA fitness. I appreciate that they are open an hour later on the weekend compared to other gyms in town. Also, the kids club is a huge plus for me as a single Dad. Best gym in town hands down and the staff is amazing! I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to go anywhere else. I worked out at Planet Fitness for years and wish I would have made the change years ago! The gym at LA is very clean and they do a great job keeping the sanitizing stations locked and loaded. The amenities cannot be matched and the variety of equipment is excellent. Lastly, and most importantly, the ladies look much better over here. Two thumbs up and 5 stars from the Galenator!!!

Lake Shore Athletic Club - Weight room is amazing!

Huge facility with 3 salt water pools (indoor, outdoor and shallow kiddie outdoor)…read more Myriad strength and weight machines and equipment. Gigantic treadmill room. Indoor track. Squash and handball courts inside, with tennis and pickleball courts outside. Even a golf swing room. Locker rooms are clean and attractive, bordering on being somewhat luxurious, with saunas and hot tubs in each. Parking is a challenge, but with a little patience you'll find someone on their way out. Some Medicare advantage programs provide membership (such as Kaiser Permanente) at no cost to you. Memberships require an initiation fee, and monthly dues (not applicable for Medicare Advantage.)

Unwelcoming, apathetic, and rude front desk staff who mock disabled people!…read more I went in today to see about getting a membership for my family member who is a disabled senior citizen with Down Syndrome and I was appalled by how rude and apathetic the people working there are. They actually made derpy faces and rolled their eyes at us when we asked questions about how their memberships work and are billed. Because of this, I would neve give then a penny of our money. For a group of people whose job it is to sell memberships and greet members, I can't believe how hard they go out of their way to be unwelcoming and unhelpful. We had to ask for a tour of the facilities. They refused to talk directly to Warrren even thought he understands English and had questions. They had no interest in talking directly with him or showing him around or telling him about the activities they offer. I told the young man giving the tour 3 times that he was hard of hearing yet he refused to speak up or engage with him directly. The amount of apathy is truly astounding. But, the alarming part is that they blatantly made fun of 2 people with disabilities to our faces. This is discriminatory and I called the red /burgundy haired woman out on this behavior and told her it was not appreciated at all and that we would be taking our business elsewhere because of her behavior specifically. I hope they have cameras so their manager can review this interaction and see the faces she made at us as we were talking, I flipped her the bird as we were leaving because I was furious but she should be fired for making fun of disabled folks.

I have been seeing David as a personal trainer for a little more than 6 months, and this has been…read morethe best workout experience I've ever had. He is flexible with his hours, holds me accountable and pushes me to see the best results. I'm down 20 pounds, and I can see the dramatic change in the muscle growth. I entered the gym with a back injury and being morbidly obese. I told David I didn't want to just lose weight, just wanted to bulk up. He worked around my back issues, while also strengthening my back. Where I am at now is a far cry from where I was, and I know I wouldn't have gotten there without David. The culture at the gym is not like other gyms. There is no showboating, posturing, or egos competing with each other. We all support each other, and the atmosphere is welcoming and encouraging. It's a private gym, and so there is no waiting for a machine or feeling the pressure to rush a set as someone waits. There is access to nutritionists as well. I have recently began utilizing the services of Megan Davis, a wonder nutritionist who has helped my wife and I see immediate results. That is the network cultivated at this gym, like minded people aimed at lifting each other up. I struggle with sleep apnea and losing weight because of it felt like an utter impossibility. I tried for years and never lost a pound, despite my greatest effort. With the focused and calculated routines David has provided, I've seen dramatic changes. For the first time, I feel like the body I want is not a fantasy, but an actual probability.
