Lake Shore Athletic Club - Weight room is amazing!

Huge facility with 3 salt water pools (indoor, outdoor and shallow kiddie outdoor)…read more Myriad strength and weight machines and equipment. Gigantic treadmill room. Indoor track. Squash and handball courts inside, with tennis and pickleball courts outside. Even a golf swing room. Locker rooms are clean and attractive, bordering on being somewhat luxurious, with saunas and hot tubs in each. Parking is a challenge, but with a little patience you'll find someone on their way out. Some Medicare advantage programs provide membership (such as Kaiser Permanente) at no cost to you. Memberships require an initiation fee, and monthly dues (not applicable for Medicare Advantage.)

Unwelcoming, apathetic, and rude front desk staff who mock disabled people!…read more I went in today to see about getting a membership for my family member who is a disabled senior citizen with Down Syndrome and I was appalled by how rude and apathetic the people working there are. They actually made derpy faces and rolled their eyes at us when we asked questions about how their memberships work and are billed. Because of this, I would neve give then a penny of our money. For a group of people whose job it is to sell memberships and greet members, I can't believe how hard they go out of their way to be unwelcoming and unhelpful. We had to ask for a tour of the facilities. They refused to talk directly to Warrren even thought he understands English and had questions. They had no interest in talking directly with him or showing him around or telling him about the activities they offer. I told the young man giving the tour 3 times that he was hard of hearing yet he refused to speak up or engage with him directly. The amount of apathy is truly astounding. But, the alarming part is that they blatantly made fun of 2 people with disabilities to our faces. This is discriminatory and I called the red /burgundy haired woman out on this behavior and told her it was not appreciated at all and that we would be taking our business elsewhere because of her behavior specifically. I hope they have cameras so their manager can review this interaction and see the faces she made at us as we were talking, I flipped her the bird as we were leaving because I was furious but she should be fired for making fun of disabled folks.

I moved here from So. CA about 6 yrs ago and immediately started looking for a place to work out…read more Although I wasn't into CrossFit, a friend recommended I try the "Bootcamp" workouts they offered. After a couple workouts, I was hooked. We use kettlebells, barbells and dumbbells for strength training, and also use rowers, Airdyne and running for cardio. I've learned to climb a 15ft rope, and still look forward to achieving other goals. The gym also has another area that includes machines that you'd find at a big box gym. There's a basketball court and also opportunities for MMA training here too! I have mixed in boxing/pad work on a couple of days because it creates a more well rounded fitness plan for me. If you're a diehard CrossFitter, you can just attend those classes. There's something for everyone here! The facility/equipment is always clean and the staff is friendly and ready to assist you.

Elite Level Training Center in the North Vancouver Washington Area…read more I had the pleasure of stopping in for a drop-in WOD at this highly recommended Crossfit Box. I was in the Vancouver area for business and had just finished up a customer visit in the Kalama area. I needed a good workout and wanted to get an early workout in as my body was suffering from a long drive from Albany OR to Kalama WA. I picked the right place as it was not too far off from the highway and they had early classes. I was greeted warmly by the staff and had the Owner/Coach Brittany Sarkela coaching the WOD that afternoon. This Box has state of the art equipment, and tons of barbells, kettlebells, assault bikes and other necessary Crossfit equipment. This was one tough WOD that day and I trudged my way through it. The Coach was kind enough to invite me to lift after class but I was already curled up in a big sweaty ball on the mats trying to catch my breath, so I politely declined lol. They have a thriving Crossfit community in Vancouver and its places like Crossfit Untamed that make this happen. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you drop into this box. Need more incentive? Not only will the members challenge you to keep up, but there is also a Craft Brewery and food trucks right next door to Crossfit Untamed.

He took the time to ask me about my personal fitness goals and gave me a detailed road map of how I would accomplish them. During the personal training session, he had me do some exercises that I normally don't do, nonetheless, it gave me a good idea of some exercises to do to increase anaerobic activity, core strength, and stability. After the work out he took the time to get to know me and I was able to get to know him too. Overall, he was very friendly, personable, and I highly recommend his services to anyone interested in personal training. So far, I have greatly enjoyed my membership with LA fitness. I appreciate that they are open an hour later on the weekend compared to other gyms in town. Also, the kids club is a huge plus for me as a single Dad. Best gym in town hands down and the staff is amazing! I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to go anywhere else. I worked out at Planet Fitness for years and wish I would have made the change years ago! The gym at LA is very clean and they do a great job keeping the sanitizing stations locked and loaded. The amenities cannot be matched and the variety of equipment is excellent. Lastly, and most importantly, the ladies look much better over here. Two thumbs up and 5 stars from the Galenator!!!

I was most disappointed in the workout room upstairs though. They have more classes than the East Vancouver location, but the room at the Hazel Dell location is half the size, and the A/C apparently hasn't been working for the past three months. They propped open the two doors and placed a single box fan at the entrance, but that's it. It got so incredibly hot and stuffy in there with all the bodies in the room. It's honestly a safety hazard and completely negligent on their part. Someone almost passed out during a previous class. How has it been three months and they still haven't fixed the A/C?!
