McClellan's Pub - Fish n chips

McClellan's Pub

"Come for the Fish & Chips, stay because you can't feel your legs--mostly from whiskey, partly from…read morethe temperature in the restaurant." McClellan's Pub delivered a plate of Fish & Chips so good I briefly considered applying for dual citizenship with Ireland and Great Britain just to honor both sides of the dish. Perfectly crispy, piping hot, and seasoned like the chef whispered sweet nothings to the fryer. The whiskey selection? Huge. Titanic. Practically its own ZIP code. But not a drop of Powers. , A tragedy Shakespeare himself would've rewritten entire scenes for. So, like any self-respecting Irish-at-heart patron, I defaulted to good old Jameson--reliable, comforting, and always there for you, like that one friend who helps you move because they "actually like lifting things." I also grabbed to-go orders for the home tribe: bourbon meatballs, prime rib sliders, and meatloaf. The feedback? Universal acclaim. They devoured everything like I'd brought them a peace offering after years of conflict. If McClellan's ever launches a catering service, entire families could be reunited. The place was packed through Happy Hour and well beyond--apparently, half of Columbus had the same idea. If popularity is a metric of quality, this pub is basically Beyoncé. Temperature-wise? A bit chilly. Could've been the weather... could've been the pub... could've been the frigid realization that they were this close to having my favorite whiskey. Hard to say. Bring a jacket just in case. All in all, McClellan's is a rock-solid choice for hearty pub eats, stellar vibes, and enough whiskey to make you forget they didn't have the one you wanted.

Green are always fresh and I just enjoy it. Wednesday is their half price fish & chips special. Two larges pieces of cod battered and deep fried to perfection! Served with fries and a small sides of tarter sauce and a delicious vinegar based slaw. Today I ordered my fish blackened and grilled. This option is not on the menu but was a yummy and healthier option. McClellan's is tucked away in a shopping plaza at the corner if Snouffer and Sawmill behind a bagel shop. They have a lovely patio on the side of the building if you want to sit outside. Inside is a european style pub with old liquor bottles for cold water on the table. We regularly visit McClellans and recommend that you check them out!

She went above and beyond what a normal waitress would typically have to do. She's very polite and she knows exactly what she's doing and really cares about her customers. I'll continue to come and eat at Tino's in Columbus whenever I get the chance to!! Definitely worth the hour drive!!

The food here is really good! It's better than most bar food. I have been here a couple of times…read moreand always had great interactions with the waitresses expect one. I had a waitress named Cassie who was not friendly and gave mean girl energy. Not sure if she was having a bad day or not but whatever it was, we felt it. I ordered a cocktail and happened to watch her make it. I questioned one part of her process and instead of just informing me what her method was, her response to me was "I know what i'm doing" after this interaction, she then decided to ignore us as a table and we had to ask another waitress (Mara) to assist us. Mara was so kind to us and I really appreciate that. just a quick message to cassie: I never didn't think you didn't know what you were doing, I simply questioned why pineapple juice would be in a tito's vodka bottle and that's all you had to explain. And for you to treat us differently after that interaction was disappointing. I could have chosen to not give a tip, the same way you chose to stop waiting on us but I chose to still tip you because I know waitresses work hard.

This establishment is absolutely appalling and outright discriminatory. I visited with a colleague…read morewho was briefly back from deployment in Iraq. We simply had a conversation at the bar about the conflict in Israel. The next day, after he returned overseas, I went back to this bar, where I've been a regular customer for years. Upon arrival, I was met with the most shocking behavior from the bartender, Dylan--someone I've never had any issue with before. He suddenly informed me, in the most rude, aggressive, and downright hostile manner, that I was no longer welcome. I've traveled to over 60 countries, and I can confidently say that Dylan is one of the most unprofessional and vile individuals I've ever encountered. This was clearly a discriminatory act against a loyal, near-daily customer who is a well-known businessman in the area and has consistently supported this establishment, recommending it and bringing others here over the years. The fact that this kind of aggressive and violent behavior is tolerated is unacceptable. Dylan's actions were beyond shocking--he is a disgrace and should be immediately fired. This is not just poor service; it's completely unacceptable and dangerous. I urge everyone to avoid this place at all costs. Their behavior is not just shameful, it's a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Shameful business. A Better Business Bureau complaint has been filed and will submit the complaint to the Ohio Attorney General's office if no resolution or apology is discussed in a timely manner.

Good luck trying to get a drink at this bar after midnight. The principle bartender shuts things…read moredown officially with last call at 1:15, but stops serving well before that. Edit 18FEB24: same bartender (Dillon) is a thief. The guy got drunk on shift, at least I hope he was drunk, picked up the cash I put out for my next drink and said "this is mine now and you're cut off. You know you deserve it". There were some pretty intoxicated people in the same seats earlier who he had obviously overserved since one of them fell out of their chair, but that wasn't me, I was on my third drink. The bar back pulled my cash back out of the tip jar and apologized for his behavior but this guy has a problem.
