I was prepared for this newly-opened Joann's to be "same song! second verse!" as relates to the…read morepreviously unremarkable Hancock Fabrics location here, but they've certainly packed a lot into the same footprint. While there doesn't appear to have been much in the way of renovations, aside from signage, moving / replacing fixtures, and changing the store layout, there is a lot more cubic footage dedicated to "Michaels'" craft-oriented (including Crayola and similar kid kits or general craft stuff, holiday [to include holiday baking / food decoration, gift wrapping and some limited decorations], jewelry making, ribbons) stuff, and a lot less wasted on cheap homegoods and from-tv products. This stuff is mostly to the center - right of the entrance. While their adverts reference custom framing, I'm not exactly clear (after several visits focused on other items / areas) where, exactly the displays for this are located. This, though, remains the most useful local chain for those who sew. They sell machines, patterns, notions, and a more limited array of fabrics (fleece, quilting, to make clothes, or decorator) and tools (more than their predecessor stocked). Several of the staff have proved knowledgable when asked very direct questions about how to do something specific after they mentioned being sewers. In my visits, I haven't been impressed with their needlework stock, but, well, I don't do a lot of it, so perhaps they have the market covered for hardcore needleworkers...I wouldn't know, just not the things I was looking for. Yarns were about what Hancock stocked at a glance. Their bolt upholstery / decorator fabrics are extremely limited, specific, and dated (easily what was selling six years ago on either coast, in only very slightly different colorways); the back wall (to the right, where ribbon was once) is host to custom order fabrics on color-organized hanger samples, back, slight left is where a very small number of decorator bolts can be found. Trim options are sad but serviceable basics, many of which can be found at Walmart. Wasn't tempted by anything I saw, despite opening discounts . There wasn't a lot of textural variety in either area and nothing was particularly standout or worth the price. The most novel thing about my three visits to this location was experiencing a male staffer, something unimaginable in Hancock Fabric days. Unfortunately, he couldn't make change correctly (in a pretty WTF is wrong with our education system-type way - broke out a calculator to verify the total change I was due, and still got it wrong after running the numbers more than once.), but was assigned to the cashier station. I guess since they're still acting on the "I need to ask people about what they're making and show an ongoing interest to a degree that it comes across as effing creepy to any customer with normal and appropriate boundaries" kool-aide, it's probably for the best that Mr. No Simple Math was relegated to the "easy (but still wrong)" stuff. Meh. Location is currently staffed to the nines (at least six working staff at a time who I interacted with in a footprint--who knows how many were helping others--that was only ever staffed by three or fewer people) and still it takes five minutes to check out with one person in line.

I see the bad reviews but, personally, I love the store. I don't do a lot of sewing anymore but I…read moredo go in there occasionally and get fabric and other notions for making cornice window treatments. The staff is always helpful, friendly and polite. I'll continue going to this store in the future.

I had a great experience at Hobby Lobby in Elizabethtown. The store was very clean and organized…read morewhich made it easy to find exactly what I needed without wandering around. The selection of home decor, crafts, and seasonal items was impressive and everything felt well stocked. The staff was friendly and helpful when I had a question about where to find a specific item. Checkout was quick and smooth and I did not feel rushed at all while browsing. Overall it was a relaxing shopping trip and I left with everything on my list plus a few extra things I did not plan on getting. Definitely a great place to shop for crafts and home projects.

I really enjoy going into Hobby Lobby if I have an idea and don't really know what I would like but…read moremanage to go in and get the image all worked out. BUT!!! this is 2025 and why don't have registers have a way to use a scan gun to make it quicker? This typing it in and looking for pricing is crazy. Also why is it your cashiers always look so unhappy NEVER smile, say Thank you or ask for you to return? They look like they don't want to be there. Went in and it's crazy busy and all the cashiers looked pissed off... For a Christian based business you would think the people who work there would be happier. I will keep shopping there however they need to speed up the checkout process and have a separate one for returns that has some there that knows how to do it.

KSS is a classic Etown Oddment. Open to all (no membership or professional affiliation required),…read moredespite initial impressions of the location, it's really just your average retail location for a selection of school supplies that is unexpected and appreciated. Yeah, I know that's not what it looks like from the outside, but really...it's ok to pull up and go in. Staff are friendly! They carry classroom supplies (including posters, maps, and educational materials, as well as classroom decorations: bulletin borders, decorative paper, and much more) that lots of folks would recognize on sight. Stock is well beyond that part of the aisle Staples dedicates to similar products. They also stock classroom-sized supplies (low count crayon multipacks and the like), of course. Things like kits to teach counting, time - telling, currency, etc., particularly where physical items are useful for lesson explanation abound. Planners, organization tools / items, and other 'adulting for educators' items (some of which are easily re-purposed for others in helping professions) are available. I've been a periodic visitor since about 1997 - back when I regularly purchased classroom decoration type-stuff. These days I only visit to find unique papergoods or when I need mass quantities of items one would find in a classroom. Prices are fine: not discount, but not exceptionally high, even for the area and especially when compared to limited locally available chains like Staples.
