VERY interesting place! Yes, it is run out of the owners house, but you would swear he sleeps on…read morebooks! They are wall to wall, first editions, etc. It's not your typical bookstore with a rack for popular sci-fI, or fantasy, he has complete rooms dedicated to history, arts, self-help, etc. but they are mostly old. The smell of old books permeates the entire house. It's a beautiful thing. Go spend an hour looking at historic Louisville books, (I found a courier journal cookbook from the mid eighties here!) or go upstairs to peruse a wall of art! It's a fantastic place!

Horse Cave, KY is a surprising little destination on our trip to Mammoth Caves and we were delighted with our finds while visiting this little town. Most everything is located in a pretty small quadrant, so you can make your rounds to all the different shopping locations pretty easily. This book store was surprisingly big, and had something from every genre. Prices are reasonable and they even have some items that would be considered more collectable and had prices that acknowledged that. Staff was really nice and helpful and they had some really great prices. We would stop in here again if we made our way back to Horse Cave.

Upon walking in, instead of greeting us the barista-- with an attitude-- said "I'm gonna need a few minutes." I totally understand that things get busy sometimes, especially when there's a large event happening in town! However, phrasing and delivery are EVERYTHING in the food/drink/hospitality industry. The same barista also acted annoyed when my friend asked for additional flavoring in her caramel macchiato. This was definitely a little off-putting. If/when we return to the area, we may give it another shot. But, I hope we will feel a bit more welcome next time.

I went shopping a few weeks back with my 5 girls and some friends when we stopped into this shop. The clothing mainly consisted of 80s and 90s retro shirts, band merch and horror film merch. They had a massive record/vinyl collection to browse from. My oldest loves vinyls so she spent a lot of Time browsing those and had a blast. The workers here were very accommodating and friendly. Like most thrift shops you can find good bargains and then there are some you will Feel is overpriced. Overall a really cool and fun shop to check out, but things and even just browse.

I don't know what I was expecting but what I found was a great selection of books at very cheap prices, other fun bits and extras that also were pretty cheap and a buzzing store that clearly contained a lot of staff and customers that know each other. This shop is a community, that was very evident. I found a few books I had on my wishlist with a certain website (rhymes with "Shmamazon") at much better prices as well as some that caught my eye. I also let my son pick out books for him and his sister. When we checked out, the cashier told me about their adult summer reading challenge and kids storytime. What a special place!

Stalwart Books is awesome! This retail shop where you'll find not only books, but also gifts and…read morecrafts, is located in Logan Street Market. All proceeds from the shop go to support a non-profit called OneWord, which provides literacy access and education for those in need in the Louisville area. Stalwart accepts donated books, so if you have any you're looking to clear out of your house, you should definitely consider donating here! Any and all books are accepted, everything from adult novels to children's books, so don't toss anything, just bring them here instead. The owner of the shop is a social worker who has worked in the non-profit world. She had a dream to own a bookstore that would support community literacy, a cause that is personally dear to her, and she's realized that dream with Stalwart! (I recommend reading the bio of the shop on the Logan Street Market website, there's more awesome information there.) I really can't speak highly enough of this shop. It's easily accessible within the market, offers tons of merchandise to shop for such a small space, takes donations, and all proceeds go to benefit an important cause. Plus, you'll receive great service! Stephanie is really friendly, and she's there to help if you're looking for something specific.
