PSA for those of you wanting to check out different gyms.... Here is a recommendation for a place…read moreto AVOID. We absolutely loved Burn Boot Camp until recently. When called out the owner for deceptive business practices, not only did she blocked us on all social media, she also cancelled our memberships immediately and banned us from the gym. Guilty much? Here is a breakdown of events: The owner marketed a Weight Loss challenge the Commit Challenge from 1/13-2/22. This was marketed as a New Year weight loss challenge for everyone and was really hyped up. Everyone got a container of protein and a shirt and entered the competition for $100 ea. There was no criteria sent out prior to signing up other than that it was a weight loss challenge. Here is the timeline of events: 12/27 - First email sent out about Commit Challenge. No mention of winners criteria besides "cash Prizes for Top 3 Biggest Losers" "Schedule Focus Meeting and set your goal by 1/12, says challenge dates are 1/13-2/22." Entry free was $100 per person, we believe about 120 people joined this challenge?. 1/08 email with receipt for charge of entry fee into challenge - The date we were charged for the challenge 1/11 commit challenge info sent out , still does not state criteria used to decide winners, provides link to submit challenge info and states inbody scan must be from prior to 1/13/2025 (has no date range...so theoretically someone could use a scan from last July as there are no written rules stating It must be a recent scan in email) Just says body fat in pounds must be entered on the form. 1/18 week one check in email has no mention of criteria 1/24 week 2 pulse check no mention of winner criteria 2/6 week 3 - Halfway check-in /top losers FIRST MENTION OF CRITERIA FOR CALCULATING HOW IT WOULD BE SCORED. Still Vague. Everyone was to send in their final weigh-ins via google forms by 2/22 6pm. Winners were not announced via email, no one was notified with the exception of a single Instagram post. This is where it gets very confusing. The top winners were VERY thin and who are conveniently close friends with the owner. They could not have possibly lost 20% + body fat without completely starving themselves in an unhealthy way. Larger people who were winning halfway through the challenge suddenly were not even top 10, even after doubling their midway point. People who were larger did not have a chance and it also feels like this was a cash grab as you cannot see any of this information on their public FB pages, or IG other than who won. Even their "VIP" group on Facebook was not notified of anything regarding who won. This entire competition, which we thought would be fun and competitive, was a sham to begin with as anyone could starve themselves or fudge the numbers and win. Those who did the weekly check ins, did the 4 camps a week, and followed protein goals did not have a fighting chance. If we had known that the sole statistic used to determine prize winners was % of body fat percentage lost, without anything else in place, we would not have paid to do this challenge. It was unethical to have a paid challenge for cash prizes without clearly defined criteria, released prior to sign up, on what it would take to win, so participants could make an educated decision on whether it would make sense for them to sign up. There were clearly errors made in the calculations on the midway check in, I believe that those errors carried over to the final results, as the percentage of body fat lost claimed by the top 10, especially the top 5, are questionable (losing 22.5% of your body fat in 6 weeks is an insane amount no matter your size and extremely unlikely/unhealthy.) It is my belief that this challenge was hyped up and promoted in an intentionally vague manner in order to get more people to sign up for it as a cash grab, which it was clearly very successful at doing based on the amount of participants we saw in the beginning. Utilizing a single criterion that has an extremely lower difficulty level for people who are already small isn't a good look, and I would be willing to bet that a lot of others would have not signed up if they knew that it was a one-sided competition that favored people who were already fit. When owner was talked to about it, she doubled down on her being a fitness professional and implied (not in these exact words) that we were just sore losers. We never cared about winning but wanted a fair chance, which we didn't get. We spent $320 a month to attend Burn, bought merch and supplements, and participated in challenges like the Level Up games, but since her takeover, we have never felt wanted as we are not skinny and fit like others. Day one with Burn it felt that we were there to get in shape and meet or exceed goals when now, since the change in owners, it feels as if there has been a shift priorities. It feels less inclusive.

My fitness has increased noticeably and I've seen improvements in my ability to complete more sit ups / core exercises, lift progressively heavier weights & generally push myself harder throughout each session. I enjoy working out. It gets my day started immediately on a positive note. I can give more to my family, employer and friends. So, what can I say, I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to gyms. I have high expectations because this is not only where my money goes, but where I start my day. I will try not to turn this into a short blog, so let me break down my review of AFA into four categories: 1. Access: Convenient hours of operation is 4 AM - 11 PM, 7 days a week, open on ALL holidays. Want to work out on Thanksgiving before you stuff your face, AFA is here for you! You get a nice blue fob and access it anytime your heart desires. No need to wait for anyone! Forget your fob and it's 4 AM, don't panic! Happened to my friend and she was buzzed right in. 2. Equipment: Up-to-date equipment, boxing bags, mats, TRX, free weights, assisted weights, etc. Plus, they are always adding new things! I have yet to see any equipment down for use. 3. Cleanliness: Okay, here is where my snob side comes in. I pay for something, I expect it clean and usable. Of course, there is only so much you can do when people are working out, but even then, equipment and benches were clean and weights put back to where they belong! It's funny, but there are video footages of the owners cleaning the floors! I was like... WOW!! 4. Security: Because I work out so early, I have a concern about safety. Cameras, cameras, CAMERAS everywhere! Inside and outside. Well-lit externally as well! I was even shown the live footage at the gym as well as on their portable business device. What I did not expect... during my tour and using the gym for about 5 days, I was able to chat with Tyler and his fiancé Lou the entire time. They were both very transparent about AFA! The reason for starting and their vision for the gym and fitness community. Tyler talked about fitness education and broke things down for me. Lou talked about membership, access, security and everything else you can imagine to ask. And boy did I ask her questions! You can see and feel their passion shining right through their smiling faces! They are proud of what they are doing and it shows with how they care for their establishment as well as their members! So... I joined the family! My overall review... OUTSTANDING! Don't wait to visit Absolute Flex Appeal. I am happy to be a part of the AFA Family!!!! Traveling 30 min each way is completely worth it (I have a huge gym 5 min from my home). The past couple months have been great. Thank you, Lou and Tyler, for creating an environment that fosters positivity and... Flex-Ability (see what I did just there?).

Tyler and Lou are awesome owners, super motivating and kind. They work with you to make sure you know the ins and outs and make you feel at home. 5-10pm access via keycode allows you to work on YOUR schedule and not the office hours, brand new equipment, assault bikes and everything you need for an ass kicking. Now, bear in mind this isn't your standard gym, while you get the bells and whistles with top of the line equipment, you also DONT get the luxury of a Big Gym, No locker room, no spa, no A/C but you get the self push that comes with getting over those challenges and really hitting that next level. The also offer personal training with a TON of awesome trainers, or do what I did, meet up with a buddy and make the gym yours! Affordable rates, good location (pretty far for me but worth it) and state of the art equipments means ill be back for a long time. The music is Loud, the fans are on, and like i said, you get a push from yourself that you might not know you had. If you don't like the music, or the side talk, bring headphones and go into your zone and get your work in and get out, no need to get into the rest of it, thats the beauty of this facility. I don't get how someone wouldn't take control of their own workout, towel, bottle, headphones, get in and own it, otherwise you leave it on the table. This gym is designed for the user to maximize THEIR time, corporate gyms give the support that gives you a "Feel good vibe" just for walking in, here you do the work and leave satisfied. Also, the "too cheap to provide A/C" comment i read earlier is simply laughable, If you want ALL of the amenities, guess who isn't getting the lowest rates for a private gym in the area more. YOU OWN YOUR WORKOUT. to Tyler and Lou thanks for the push to join, my only regret is I didn't do it sooner! - Greg B

Long version: I've been a member of Fitnello for just over six months, and the experience has truly been life‑changing. When I arrived for my initial consultation, I had never lifted weights and my background was limited to hot‑yoga practice. My journey began with the group‑class prep session with Angelina. Her expertise and upbeat personality made the workout feel fun rather than intimidating. As I transitioned into regular group classes, I discovered a supportive community of women who were incredibly helpful and welcoming to newcomers. Elina, the owner, now leads the evening sessions. She's exceptionally knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the "why" behind each movement. She also teaches us how to track our weights and reps so we can increase volume in a safe, progressive manner. Beyond the friendly atmosphere and expert guidance, I've seen tangible results: a 5% reduction in body fat and a 5% increase in muscle mass! The atmosphere is supportive, and I feel stronger every session. I also met with Elina, the owner, who created a meal plan for me. I've been following it for the past two weeks, and I've already seen progress--my muscle mass has increased, and my % body fat has decreased in such a short time. I'm really excited to keep going on this journey and see what progress I can make! If you're looking for a welcoming, structured place to get stronger, I definitely recommend Fitnello.
