Great spot - brunch all day! Loved the interior, very calm and comfortable seating. We had 3 diff staff help us and all so kind; quick to seat and gorgeous view of the water. Patio available too! This was perfect for our group breakfast - they have a dedicated gluten free menu and dedicated vegan menu, and also have meat options. Robust nonalc menu as well - super happy with everything we ordered & will certainly be back! Beautiful start to the day

Went to Hard Bean Brunch on a Sunday, we didn't have a reservation but got a spot right away for 3 people. It was just a 5mins wait. The restaurant is really big! They have patio as well as indoor seating. A good place for a large group. The two things that really stood out to us was there banana brulee French toast and their beef and egg tacos. The French toast was delicious, gooey and came with vanilla ice cream, best dessert. The beef and egg tacos were seasoned very well so enjoyed those. However, the rest of the food was very average - their chicken and waffles- the waffles were very soggy and the chicken wasn't seasoned too well. Their chicken pesto quesadilla were not bad but nothing to rave about. For drinks, we got their zero proof mimosa flight which was a little too fizzy and I couldn't really taste the difference between all the flavours. It was very sour. Their iced coffee was very watered down. The food came out pretty fast but they accidentally got us the beef & egg tacos which we had cancelled. We told our server and she said "oh they have already prepared it, we can take off the bill for you if you still want to have it" so we thought that was very nice of her. However, when the final bill came the tacos were added there so we told her about it. Her response was "ya it was added". I did not say much because we did end up finishing the tacos but the communication was poor.

Stopped for a bite. We visited with our family before heading to the cruise ship. Pleasantly surprised by the gluten free options. The charcuterie brunch was tasty. Burgers are great. Server is very knowledgeable. The "bloody Mary" was tasty as well.

Chicken quesadilla Waffle coated Brunch wings Jammy egg and steak tacos

Great location for anyone staying in the downtown core. Bonus points for the dog friendly patio too! The service we had was great, really friendly and attentive. We were a group of five and all ordered different brunch items. We got the special waffle wings to share as we were all intrigued. I like the creativity of this dish as they're definitely brunch wings with the sweetness of the sauce and I enjoyed them as a share dish. I could never eat the plate to myself as I'm a savoury girl and tend to like salt over sweetness. For my main dish I got the Dos Steak and Jammy egg tacos. The steak was very overcooked and overall they just needed seasoning or something to livin them up! The egg was cooked really nicely and was jammy. My sis got a chicken quesadilla which was okay, just needed more sauce on the inside. Everyone else got benny and they looked good! I didn't taste them though so can only go off my experience. I liked my virgin brunch Cesar too! Had good flavour just needed a touch more spice!

This spot is very busy on a Sunday morning due to being close to the cruise terminal but we got seated outside right away and had a lovely server. They have a gluten-wise menu so there was a lot to choose from. The server asked about my level of GF sensitivity and my concern over cross-contamination. I am GF intolerant but not celiac. I had their classic French toast, a side of bacon - which was amazing! And two eggs over easy. All the food was very good. The coffee was okay. Wish it had been tastier. My husband had the chicken and waffles that had a spicy hollandaise and sautéed kale. He liked it quite well. I would definitely go back!

It was super busy but they were really quick to seat multiple tables. Our server was friendly and quick to take our order and refill drinks. I tried the chili chicken + wontons with rice. Also The Basic brunch. They have a nice patio and a spacious inside space. The chili chicken was tasty , wontons were crisp and just the right amount of sauce

A fantastic spot for brunch with a beautiful view of the water! They offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, all thoughtfully prepared. The coffee is excellent, and the staff is very friendly, making it a welcoming place to enjoy a leisurely morning.

I think the menu is extensive and the food tasted great. We were served quickly despite the wait for a table. This is a very popular breakfast place so the ambiance is busy but not too noisy. If you don't have a reservation you will have to wait for a table. I do think the food is definitely worth the wait. I would return again and try their breakfast items.

Seafood Eggs Benny with herb shrimps
    Chancellor K.

I stopped into The Hard Bean Brunch Co. on my trip to Vancouver, and this place surprised me in the best way. I ordered the seafood Benny with herb shrimp on sourdough. The dish hit every mark. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The yolk spilled the moment my fork touched it. The sauce had a smooth, rich finish without feeling heavy. The shrimp carried real flavour, not just seasoning on the surface. The herbs came through with every bite, and the texture stayed tender. The sourdough held the heat and the sauce without going soggy, which says a lot about the quality of the bread and how well the dish is put together. The plate looked good, but the taste was even better. You could tell the kitchen pays attention to detail. Nothing felt rushed. Shereese made the visit even better. She paid attention, checked in at the right times, and carried a calm, warm energy. You never felt like a table number. She made the first visit feel familiar, which isn't easy in a busy brunch spot. If you're in Vancouver and want a brunch that's worth your time, add this place to your list. I'll be back.

    Basil Crusted Salmon

It was my first time here. Ambiance was good. Food was delicious. I ordered basil crusted salmon . Next time, I'll try steak. Our hostess was amazing. My only complaint was it took a while for our orders to come. It took at least minimum 45 minutes.

Was able to make a reservation which was great as it was busy on a Saturday morning They do have an outside (not heated) patio that's dog friendly The food was average. We ordered an omelette and an avocado Benny. The Benny was good but there's better out there The service was quite slow since it was so busy. The price point of the food was much lower than other places in downtown.

    Vegan scramble
    Matt B.

Beautifully located right at Coal Harbour, with an outside patio overlooking the water. Hard to beat the location and views. Food-wise, they cater to many diets, including a sizeable vegan section of the menu, which is what I got us in the door. My wife & I split the Farm Field Omelette ($25.95) and the Vegan Scramble ($23.95) and a couple of coffees (my wife was charged $0.80 for oat milk). The food came out in about 10 minutes. The portions were moderate, or even rather small given the excessive price tags. Both dishes were underseasoned and lacked much flavour depth, but were otherwise reasonably tasty and satisfying. The omelette was supposed to come with kale but didn't. We really appreciate the vegan options but felt both dishes could use a fair bit of reimagining. As soon as we were done, the server came by to drop off our bill and take payment without prompting -- certainly aided in the factory-like corporate feel to the place. Can't imagine we'll return unless they overhaul the vegan items and improve the value. There are many superior vegan-friendly brunch places in Vancouver for this one to be recommedable.

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

We selected a top bottle and when we ordered were told what time we needed to vacate the table. At that point I had enough. I wasn't prepared to spend that much on a beautiful bottle of wine (and dinner) to be harassed the entire time we enjoyed it. Very embarrassed I had to ask my guest if we could leave.
