Having lived out of UK for 27 years my wife and I were looking forward to meeting up with old friends. We thought it would be good to visit one of the restaurants we used to enjoy. Oh dear, what a disappointment. Firstly, we were sat in a newer annexe next to a party of 20 or so that were painfully loud and that allowed their children to run around. The ambiance that was once the Harcourt Arms had disappeared in one fell swoop.
I am no chef but what was delivered was worse than a microwaveable supermarket ready meal. There was not a single item on any that was prepared on site - obviously pre-packaged. They are trying to be a "Cotswold" gastronomic destination but seriously missing the mark. Neither a good local pub with good food or a higher end restaurant. For the quality of food the pricing is too high.
Wait staff gave the impression that they were just out of school and certainly not on top of working in a restaurant.
Food orders were supplied incorrectly and timings for our party were so bad that people had to start eating before others had received their meals.
Whilst waiting for such a long time for one our desserts I asked for the bill. Oh, wait, we were given the wrong one!
Nothing I can say positive about this establishment. Food X, service X, Ambiance X.
What has happened to what was a good local Pub/Restaurant? It gave me a feeling of a business that is on it's last legs. read more
