There are maybe half a dozen pubs to choose from in Eynsham--most are fine, one or two not so much. But the Queens Head pub stands alone. It's got the best pub food by far and the friendliest service. Even though it's definitely a favourite of the local crowd, I was made to feel more than welcome as a visiting Canadian. Having spent the previous night at what I considered to be a 5-star establishment with dining to…read morematch, I was somewhat underwhelmed by both here at the popular Rose Revived Inn. Bordered by the Thames River on one side and a somewhat busy road (for the area) on another, The Rose Revived Inn's riverside dining atmosphere is pleasant, pretty even, though I was underwhelmed by the meals I ate here. Still, with little competition in the immediate area it's easy to see why they remain a draw. Most who dine here won't also be staying the night but I did. The room was clean and nice enough though very small. Air circulation was unmanageable as the window proved quite difficult to open and the location of a provided fan was inadequate in helping to move the air around in a satisfactory manner. There's not a whole lot of choice in this area, for either lodging or dining and, as a result, I'd call everything provided by the Rose Revived Inn "good enough".

Well, it lived up to this description. The food was excellent, home cooked using fresh local produce; we had a vegtable soup, with large chunky veg, followed by sandwiches, served with chips and salad. Being vegetarians, they were happy to cater for a variety of cheese sandwich orders.The chips were a bit salty for me. The prices were low, so was (we thought) fantastic value for money. It did take time to come, but it was worth the wait. And even better for dog lovers, we were able to bring the dog in with us after our walk to Blenheim Park. The fire was more purring that roaring, but even though it was zero degrees outside, it was warm enough. Just to say this was New Years Day, busy and lively. The bar staff were efficient and calm despite the sudden lunchtime rush. I'll certainly be going again to test out their dinner menu.
