This is the second time I've waited more than 30 minutes for a starter. The scallops were very good, served hot and the shellfish was nicely presented. It took more than an hour for the main course. Either the chef was overrun or didn't care. Chef's red wine gravy was very good and so easy the beef. I later learned that the head chef had quit and they were forced to use agency staff. Roast veg was underdone, Yorkshire puddings were overdone. I get the impression that this meal was rushed through preparation. Sorry lads, you really need to pull your finger out on Sunday lunches. The pub is not 'rammed' and there's absolutely no excuse if you're charging the full rate. Try here on any other day and it's fine. You will enjoy the food, but I'd avoid Sundays like a boy band member avoids a self-assessment demand from the HMRC.

Food is well prepared and the Rump Steak is to die for - locally sourced, well cooked and excellent value. It's a great place for a laid back lunch or a relaxed dinner, but still retains a comfortable village local atmosphere. The building was sympathetically renovated 2 years ago, and has a unique, superbly welcoming character.
