Came here with a group of friends as we visited Oxford and we were pleased with our experience. We all got either the fish and chips or the steak pie and both were delicious. You have to order from an app or at the bar, there are no waiters that come around, which should be noted before you wait awhile for one. The vibe was nice and we didn't have any real complaints.

We picked this pub as a choice for dinner. Right away, the noise level from the combined music, crowd and TV (that evening there was no DJ on duty) is deafening. Since no table were available on the ground floor, we went to look for a table upstairs. Unfortunately, the noise level there is even higher, and the space very limited, making it difficult to get around. When after close to 20 minutes no waiter came by, we decided to leave and find a place, where you can at least hear yourself talking. This may be an interesting pub to drink a few pints, watch sports and observe people, but don't expect to find much comfort there.

    Full English breakfast

The reason I stumbled into Wig & Pen is because I consistently saw signs outside for a £3.99 full English breakfast. And I thought, "£3.99?! That's such a steal!" So I wandered in one day with a couple of friends. It honestly is one of the greatest steals in Oxford, especially for breakfast. (To date, I haven't found a cheaper breakfast yet!) You'd think that because the cost of the breakfast is so low, that the quality and amount of food you'd be getting is just as low. But you'd be dead wrong. It really was a FULL English breakfast. I was stuffed after finishing all of it! Anyway, I'll definitely be back for more, and I highly recommend you drop by if you're looking for a hearty breakfast to start your day.

The very first bar we came in when we got off the bus into oxford from the airport was this place. Very well maintained bar and restaurant. Love the decor and the menu is quite big with lot of choices. I dont have to say anything about the beer indeed. I of course got the ultimate fish and chips with the curry and chicken pie. The fish was so good I have not had anything like that before. Just the right amount of batter to fish ratio, not too greasy. The chips was a bit too big a cut for my liking but thats the way it is over here. The mushy peas was good as expected. Thr chicken pie was good but not great. I have had better at other places.

I loved this place great to hang out, a lot of room and tables. Good beer on tap & great fish and chips. It was raining the day I went there. I hope you try this place and enjoy

Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch. They have lunch special for 7.49. Includes a sandwich, side and a drink. Good food for a great price.

To my Yelp friend Dean C - While on my quest to help find the best UK breweries, I discovered this…read moreplace. Sorry, but it is again kinda far away from the downtown/touristy London area. Oxford, UK is a college (and tourist) town. Quality/Quantity - Beer was good, and more importantly one of the few breweries within walking distance to the many college campuses here. See pictures of the menu for both the brewery and guest beers. Kitchen was closed when I got here, but that was ok as I just wanted/needed a beer. Atmosphere - Events - See pictures. Small pub, brewery. Two floors. I think the upstairs is bigger? I never went up, sorry. Indoor/outdoor seating. I started indoors so I could be near the bar, LOL. Then I decided to have my next beer outside and people watched. Another beautiful day (see picture)! I preferred the outside seating over inside. Service - Good. Not sure if it is just me, but I noticed a lot of men sitting at the bar waiting for their wives to come back from shopping. And I was one of them, LOL. Price - I can't remember? But I think less than 5 pounds a beer/pint? It just does not matter sometimes. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success. Cool spot, I am surprised that there are not more breweries in a college town. I am sure there are many pubs, but you guys need more breweries!

A wonderful pub with a great bartender. It was a pleasant place to have a pint on an afternoon.read more

One of the most iconic pubs in Oxford!…read more The food is okay, the drinks are reasonably priced, but the location is elite. It has that classic Oxford pub atmosphere that makes it worth visiting, especially if you're showing someone around the city or looking for a casual drink in a historic setting. There are outdoor tables, seating inside, and a smaller section in the back. During peak hours, it can get quite packed, so it is not always the easiest place to grab a table, but that also adds to the energy of the place. Overall, I would not necessarily come here expecting the best pub food in Oxford, but for the atmosphere, location, and quintessential Oxford experience, it is absolutely worth a stop.

It's no surprise this pub is popular considering its location, but the quality of the food, drinks,…read moreand the people-watching make it great in its own right, not just because it's smack dab in the middle of Oxford. We found ourselves coming here again and again, as it was always nearby after a tour, or perfect for killing time before the next event. (in town for a family member's graduation) There's a few outdoor tables, and many little rooms inside with all types of seating options. We were a larger group with children in tow, and kept lucking out with the long table in the first room on the left. It does get rather busy at peak hours, but if you're patient or come at off peak hours, you'll snag a seat just fine. The fish & chips were a standout from all other fish & chips I had that trip. This is an American tourist review, so take that with a grain of salt, but we liked the food and the service was always friendly and quick.
