    Very authentic, Nova Scotia ocean food experience. My haddock and scallops plate was delicious, and my husband's clams was fresh and tasty - VERY GOOD! You can order gravy on the side too. Nice ocean view and it was very relaxing, laid back atmosphere. I liked its coziness and cute simple maritime decor. I'd stop here again for sure.

    Went 2 nights in a row. First night we had fried clams and mashed potatoes. and hamburger dinner. Clams are sweeter and smaller than the ones that are common in HRM. The hamburger dinner is a generous meal and partner said it was very tasty. Second night ordered the seafood chowder and clubhouse sandwich platter. The chowder was sold out and got the soup of the day, which was turkey vegetables, good portion and very tasty. Partner had a clubhouse sandwich platter and was disappointed that it was made with turkey not chicken. Still prices are reasonable and the service was warm and friendly. Seems very popular with the local people.

    Parrsboro is a quite coastal town along the world famous Bay of Fundy that, like many of its neighbors, receives daily exceptional tide swings. This brings tourists from across the globe, like ourselves, to the area to see boats on dry land one hour and floating a few hours later. A stop at Harbour View affords sightseers the opportunity to park their car at the restaurant and walk to the lighthouse and along the ocean floor at low tide, before grabbing a bite here to watch the tide come in. This isn't a fine dining spot. In fact, if you are from a big city, relax, the inside looks better than the outside! Rest assured, it's open and the food isn't bad. If you're here, opt for the local seafood, which doesn't include the haddock, I ordered. The manager told us after I ate it that the haddock is ordered through food distributors, which was no surprise as it didn't taste good. The clams, scallops and other local dishes, on the other hand, were good and much cheaper than seafood in larger nearby cities like Moncton and Halifax. There's value here and great service and many flavors of ice cream available. Eating here reminded me of many of the local places I've been in North America, most of which no longer exist. A few local ladies take your order, are extremely friendly, caring and helpful. It's a great place to stop for a bite when on this side of the Bay of Fundy. For a side, try their homemade potato slices and get a side of their chowder. Other than the local seafood, you're on your own. I'd stick to those items or expect to eat frozen food.

    This restaurant was recommended to us by the owners of the Parrsboro Mansion Inn. At 8 p.m. I don't think anything else was open in the town, but our B&B hosts did not steer us wrong. The big thing this place has going for it is it is on the water. It is in the Parrsboro Harbour which is part of the Bay of Fundy. During dinner we could watch with amazement as landmark after landmark in the harbour got swallowed by the incoming tide. It was a great way to watch the Bay of Fundy rise. While watching the bay rise, we did enjoy our food. By that I mean it was good. Everyone of our group of five tried the Seafood Chowder. The chowder was notable for large chunks of seafood in the bowl. To most, though, it was so-so overall. A lack of creaminess was a comment heard from more than one diner. Overall the table gave the chowder 3 out of 10. Keep in mind we were traveling through the Maritime Provinces sampling chowder at most every stop along the way, so the 3/10 is on a scale with tough competition. In general, chowder we tasted in the Maritimes was pretty darn good. For dinner I had a broiled lobster. It was prepared well, and was the best lobster I had that week. The side of cole slaw that came with it was good, as well. Lastly, I should mention the staff. Everybody in this restaurant was unbelievably friendly. They were humorous and provided impeccable service. I don't know if I'll ever be up this way again, but if I was in the area, I would surely drop in the Harbour View for lunch.

    This is a locally owned restaurant that is a sweet stop after a long drive. The lobster rolls were stuffed with lobster. The fresh vegetables were a nice accompaniment to the lobster and sea food chowder which needed a bit of salt and pepper and had lots of sea food. End your meal with the stickie toffee pudding. As good as the original from Scotland!

    The fish and chips was great and so was the seafood chowder. Good food and a good price. The place isn't fancy but the food more than makes up for the lack of decor. Will return for sure, recommended.

The Wild Caraway is a 4.5 hour drive from where we live now, but when we decided to take a day off this summer and do something fun, that was our obvious road trip destination. On a good weather day the drive between Glenholme and Advocate Harbour is beautiful, and a walk on the beach near Advocate or a hike at Cape Chignecto works up a decent appetite. We landed at the Wild Caraway around 3, in time to catch the lunch menu but a little early for dinner. The restaurant resides in an old farmhouse, refinished taking the history of the placed into account, but painted beautifully funky colours and decorated with creatively placed vintage items - calendars from the 1940s, a frozen meat saw box, likely from the 50's, and vintage beer mugs from a world of interesting events and places. Original artwork hangs around the dining areas and there ar teo rooms for rent upstairs in case the menu of delicious Nova Scotia brews gets the best of you. The Wild Caraway's menu is a little on the short side, but it revolves completely around locally produced meats and in-season vegetables, and as farmers we believe that's something a lot more restaurants should be taking into consideration. The dinner menu actually changes week to week. Troy chose the pasta of the day, fusilli with halibut and fresh veggies tossed with garlic and olive oil. I had the meatloaf burger with fries. When the plates arrived neither portion looked overwhelmingly huge, but the fact that Troy finished without room for dessert, and I left a few fries on my plate is a true indication of how filling it really was. The meal started with fresh baked biscuits, peppered with dulse. Simply delicious. I am not a fan of meatloaf, so I'd hummed and hawed befor ordering, but the burger was absolutely amazing. The grilled pork meatloaf patty was lightly spiced and wrapped in a slice of Oulton's bacon, The toppings were simple - a smoked mayonnaise with lettuce and tomato, but the flavour...oh my! Even when I got to the point where I didn't think another bite was possible I just couldn't let that burger go. It pained me to have to leave a few fries behind, because they were perfectly crispy and as ungreasy as any fry has ever been, but I just wasn't willing to send a bite of that burger back. Troy's pasta looked simple enough, but the garlicky drssing announced its presence long before it hit the table. We are both huge fans. The pasta was delicious, the veggies were beautifully done, and the halibut was cooked perfectly. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the real masterpieces. The Wild Caraway has perfected that perfect balance of fine dining and casual comfort. You can go there in jeans and a t-shirt, you can dress up a little for a special date. The food is consistent and as good as anything I've eaten in this province. The commitment to using Nova Scotian ingredients makes the menu incredible and creative, and the staff know how to make you feel at home from the second you walk through the door. Advocate Harbour is a beautiful feast for the eyes. Top it off with a visit to the Wild Caraway and you'll have a road trip second to none no matter where you're from.

Our friends' food came very fast! But they had to make the takeout order before they could do ours. They apologized profusely for the delay, which was seriously no big deal. We were not bothered in the least. At least twice again they popped over to the table to apologize and said they would treat us to a nice dessert for the inconvenience! (Which we were not bothered by). Upon our food arriving -still within a totally acceptable timeframe- we could not get over how good it was. It wasn't super greasy, wasn't over battered, it was very flavourful and crispy. The family oriented environment made us feel right at home. We told stories, laughed and had a great experience. After our supper plates were polished off, a very nice lady brought us over our promised dessert which we absolutely made room for. Stopping at Granny's tonight was the perfect end to a great day. What was supposed to be a quick bite before the drive home turned into an evening of laughter and memories. Staff is amazing, food was delicious, service we received can't be topped. 10/10.

It is a great location right by the park. You can have lunch. Most of the food that we saw was fried seafood. There is also a little snack/gift shop The ice cream is great, so is the price. I think with the US currency conversion, it came down to about $1.50 a cone. That was a far cry from the prices that we were paying on the boardwalk in Halifax. There is outside seating. That's where we sat to enjoy our ice cream.

We've been once before, dining on the patio with friends last summer, but our host suggested dining inside to avoid a buggy spring evening. The quaint interior has the feel of an old world, European restaurant thanks to the stucco-slatgered walls, wood paneling and arches windows which looked out to the stone-paved courtyard. I was drawn to the tasting menu, which at four courses gives you a good chunk of the menu to enjoy, but it isn't a three to four hour commitment like larger tasting menus. At $80 and $35 extra for the estate wine pairing, it felt like a good value too! Up first were the lobster croquettes. The crisp exteriors of the croquettes contrasted sharply against the soft, lightly lobster-y goodness within. A marinated lobster and tomato salad brought some refreshing acidity to the dish as well, and the marinated lobster meat had to have been some of the most tender lobster that I've ever had. Next for me was the fazzoletti. This cut of pasta, named for its form which is similar to a handkerchief, was topped with a tomato and mint "tartare", confit garlic and a whipped cod sauce. The house-made pasta had a great, toothsome texture, although the flavours of its accoutrements were a little flat. The mint didn't really figure, and I'm not sure what a tomato tartare is supposed to be other than some diced tomato? Look, I'm all for fine dining, but sometimes the effort that's put in to punch-up the verbiage on the menu can be eye roll inducing. The whipped cod was creamy and rich, but again, the cod was not prominent at all. While I was gorging, my wife did have her own appetizer, the pan roasted asparagus. The verdant spears of asparagus had a little touch of char from the pan, and they paired well with a creamy burrata, and sweet and tangy relish of cherry tomatoes and lemon. The bright flavours and creamy burrata were a great way to highlight some of early pieces of the harvest. For my main, it was a confit lamb leg adobo. The thick slices of lamb were some of the most tender, succulent lamb I've ever had. I'm a big, big fan of Filipino food, but no flavours of vinegar, soy or garlic really made themselves known here. A smooth potato puree doubled down on the richness, while a mix of crisp kale and pea shoots brought some textural contrast and balanced out the palate. My wife had the gnocchi Parisienne for her main course, which had the pillowy bundles of carbs in a luscious sauce of Grand Pre's L'Acadie Blanc, cream and scallion butter, with an almond crumble for a little crispness. For the last of my four courses, chocolate marquise filled the dessert slot. The decadent slice of chocolate was similar to fudge, but not *quite* that dense, although it was certainly just as rich and indulgent. A pool of crème anglaise added to said indulgence, while ginger cookies brought some crunch and the bite of ginger to cut through it all. The dish with the most "wow" factor was definitely my wife's zeppole. These deep-fried balls of dough were wonderfully crisp on the outside, with moist and pleasantly doughy interiors. Dusted with sugar and nutmeg, they put Timbits to absolute shame. Sorry, not sorry, Canada. It didn't stop there though, as they came with almond ice cream, whipped cream, and a sour cherry compote that had that delicious mix of sweet and tart. I was lucky that it was a generous portion, because I was able to do my husbandly duties and finish off the dish. Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is such a unique little getaway. I hold them to a high bar due to reputation, expectation and to be honest, pricing, and while perfection may not have been met, it was still a delicious meal and great experience. There's a reason Le Caveau has been around for so long, and will continue to be for years to come.

We came for a birthday celebration which we were very happy about because Le Caveau doesn't traditionally do winter dinners. They are open during January and February for weekends only. I was sad to learn that they will close in March and April but hopefully that changes in the future as early spring would be awesome here. We chose the 5:00 pm seating (open 5-730 pm currently) and it was a great choice because we were the only ones in the restaurant. Of note, the restaurant is located at The Inn (across the actual restaurant, on the same property) during the winter months. Our server was lovely and let us choose our seats in one of two rooms - the 'kitchen' room or the side dining room. We chose the dining room and that's our only regret; the other room would have allowed us to watch the chef which would have been awesome. We took a while with the menu because we couldn't decide with everything looking so good. The server brought us a birthday drink to toast while we decided which was really nice. While the portions may look small in the photos, choosing one item from each course makes this just perfect. We decided to share a second and if we had each had our own, we agreed we'd be overly full before dessert arrived. Some folks may find this over-priced, but you're paying for quality local ingredients that are made to order as you sit. There are no Sysco products or pre-bottled ingredients in the kitchen. You really get what you pay for while supporting local farmers. Seating is VERY limited so you definitely need reservations. We will definitely be back in the summer to check out the actual restaurant. We would really love to visit when the pergola patio is open because a cocktail or glass of wine with all of the blooms would be just stunning. Skip the garbage fast food for a month and save up to try this place out. You will love the service, quality and the atmosphere.
