Capreit has made some good changes. I've been living here 3 months and I love the apartment, it was cleaned, painted and even has nice cupboards and stainless steel fridge and stove. The bathroom is spacious as are all the rooms and I like the layout. They always answer and address any concerns, issues or repairs in a timely fashion and post the information about it on a resident portal if you want to view any service tickets or tenant notices. The laundry card operated laundry rooms are convenient and I enjoy it more than using coins for sure. Overall I'm happy with my apartment and don't have any complaints. The employees in the rental office have always been helpful and friendly. Thanks! read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said. I've been here for a year and a half and it's truly hell. Expect no piece with constant pests. Notices under your door and poor incompetent staff that will smile and listen but the system is broken beyond repair. Constant break ins in units. Failed to give notices to enter units and constant roaches and Bed bugs. I've had over 15 visits for bed bugs and Roaches and have never seen a decrease and it has just proved to be a waste of my time. One of the worst experiences I've ever had can't wait to move out. read more

Bugs, mice, incompetent staff. DO NOT MOVE HERE. The worst apartment I have ever lived in. Noisy parties, every infestation you can think of, horrible and confrontational staff. This place is TERRIBLE. Edit: I will not email the company. It isn't worth a discussion. Spread the word. read more

This is by far the worst apartment that I have ever stayed in. They are always trying to take money from the tenants even if the rent and parking is paid. I have paid my parking every month and the guy who setup my parking didn't give me the sticker that needs to be given. I have got a ticket even I'm paying them every month parking. They don't even void the parking ticket even after I showed them all the transactions where the money went into their account. Also, my smoke detector was not working from almost more than a week and I have intimated them about the same. They took the work order and forgot about it. Its been a week and I have seen no one coming into my unit and checking the smoke detector which is very crucial aspect of the safety. If that's the case stay away from these management. read more

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE NO MATTER WHAT!!! i lived there for 8 months and those were the worst 8 months of my life. i had bed bugs and had about 4 treatments and nothing changed at all. i then transferred my lease and which the made me pay 75$ for, which in my opinion i shouldn't have because the circumstances in that building made me move. To add to that their staff and system is very incompetent cause 4 months later they still kept disturbing me and claimed that i haven't paid it. I moved out a year ago. I had lived here for 3 years. There are pests. The pests will not be dealt with. There are serious, dangerous maintenance issues requiring immediate repair. They will not be repaired even after you have been injured or find mold because water is leaking through your kitchen ceiling every time you shower. If and when someone shows up to fix an issue with the unit, they will not have been informed what is wrong, nor will they be prepared to fix it. I had people come five or six times, ask me what was wrong, tell me they didn't have material to fix it, tell me they'd order the material, hear back that someone was coming to fix the issue... repeat. They raise the rent despite leaving the unit to rot. About $25 every year. If you're on a tight budget this quickly becomes unaffordable. I lived in a ground floor townhouse right on Brunswick Street and my windows did not lock nor did they even have screens. I couldn't leave the windows open in the summer for air for this reason. So the unit became unbearably hot in the summer. My heaters also didn't work so it was freezing in the winter. I know some of the past staff personally and let me say it plainly: this place is a joke. Nobody cares or takes any pride in their jobs here. I would not recommend moving in here unless you have no other choice. read more

One of the worst experiences with a building, apartment defects and general staff incompetence. Over 3 and a half months and my fridge stil has a 2 foot long, 1 inch wide leak in the seal. Their solution? Eviction. I wasn't paying rent till things were fixed. If you don't take down the name of the person you spoke with about a problem, they will feign indifference and say since you can't remember who you spoke with the first time blah blah blah.... ** Updated on 12 Feb 15*** Just wanted to let everyone know that they jack up the rent by about 4% every year. Also pay no attention to the comment from Capreit. It's BS. ** updated on 29 Oct 13. A maintenance person came to inspect the heating and told me that the heating hasn't worked in this section of the building for years and to keep calling the front desk and maybe they will repair it. So that doesn't really give me a lot of hope. I will call by law enforcement today and see if they can help me out with this because there is a by law that the temperature has to be maintained at 20 degrees. ***updated on 28 Oct 13. This place doesn't even deserve the one star it should be zero. After dealing with the carpet nightmare now it turns out that the heating doesn't work either and it's freezing cold in here already even though it's not even November yet. Please do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. Personally I will never rent with this company again. *****updated on 1 Sep 13 after one month of moving in****** I have reduced my rating from two stars to one star. I moved in to the unit and the unit reeks of pet odours. There are also several small maintenance issues that I was promised would be taken care of within the first two weeks of moving in that have still not been addressed after a month. When I took up the carpet odour issue with the rental staff they did not seem to care about it until I took it up with management. I highly doubt that the carpets in here were cleaned before I moved in even though the management claims that they were cleaned. Usually when someone moves out they are required to provide proof of carpet cleaning (a receipt) and the rental staff was unable to find any proof on file. I think it's absolutely appalling that these people are willing to rent out units that reek of pet odour. The unit had been empty for one month before my move in date and it has been one month since I have moved in. It's been a month since I brought the carpet odour issue up with management and it still has not been addressed properly. Also the building that has construction going on in the parking garage has ridiculously loud jackhammering noise all day long during the week days. I have not had any issues with bedbugs here even though there are a lot of bedbug reports out there on this building. In conclusion I think the staff managing this building is either inexperienced or overwhelmed or they just don't care. It's convenient for me to live here because I work across the street but my advice to fellow yelpers is to stay away from this building as I currently feel that it's badly managed. Even though there are several things that I like about my unit the positives are drowned out by the stinky carpets. I will update my review in case my opinion changes but I doubt that because they should have cleaned the carpets properly before I moved in or at least it should have been done by now. Unsatisfied tenant. ***** old review (before move in) ****** I am moving in here next week. So far a bit disappointed with the staff that works there because they showed us a really spacious model townhouse with 3 bedrooms that we liked and got on the waiting list for. They gave us a rental amount for the unit that we saw and we liked it. When the time came to sign the lease they decided to change the rent, they said that the unit that we saw had hardwood floors and it was extra money for the townhouse with hardwood floors. They said that we could get the carpeted townhouse instead for the previously quoted rent. We were assured that everything else would be the same as the model unit but it would have carpet instead of hardwood floors. We decided to sign the lease anyways even though we were a bit disappointed. They did not show us the unit at the time because people were living there. Once the previous tenants moved out I went to see the unit and it turns out that it's nothing like the model unit at all. The main level was much narrower and missing a large area that existed in the model unit. The countertops in the kitchen were not as nice as the model unit either. The rest of the stuff was being worked on so not sure what it will be like when I move in. However, since we don't have time to look for another place we are moving in anyways. I just wanted to let other people looking into moving in here to not to go by the model units that they show you at this place. I am also seeing a lot of bedbug reports for the building which I am not too excited about. I am hoping that there won't be any bedbugs in our townhouse. **I will re-review once I move in but I wanted to get this out there for all the people moving in summer time. Just make sure you see the unit that you are moving into and don't go by the model unit because the staff is not very straight forward. They also seem to misplace my file all the tim read more

I've been a tenant her for about 2.5 years. I've had some good and bad experiences here. To begin, things have finally started to change with the building once Capreit bought it. The lobbies have been updated and painted, the underground parking garage is currently being renovated and the grounds are finally being taken care of. As far as the units go. I actually like my unit. I am on the top floor and have a corner unit. I have an amazing view of the city and the harbour. I am close to downtown where I work, and it only takes 15-20 minutes to walk there. They have installed new heating deflectors in the radiators and installed a new toilet since I've been there. The bad - my patio door leaks even though they said the roof was the cause of the problem (they have also replaced the roof in the last year) but every time there is wind along with the rain water still gets in. My biggest complaints are their lack of consistency with parking and parking enforcement as well as their linked fire alarm system with the other buildings. First, its really annoying to get a letter saying that they have hired people to enforce parking and then months later still see the same problems. Good on you for hiring people to ticket - I think it's needed. People are too self-entitled and believe they can park wherever they like. I unfortunately believe the majority of people in Halifax are too stunned to park properly on their own and need to be fined to keep them in line. However, that DOES mean you have to do it. I have seen enforcement of the 2 spots for rental office parking - which is good, but I also see the same cars park in visitor parking day in and day out. You're not a visitor if I see your damn car in the parking lot everyday for 2 months. You're too cheap to buy a parking pass, or too lazy to park on the street like everyone else who doesn't want to pay for a pass. Secondly. The alarms are crazy annoying. At least 2 of the 3 buildings fire alarms are linked. That means you may have a fire alarm in your building go off, and the person that set it off isn't even in your building. That gets old fast. The good: Dog friendly - its practically impossible to find a large dog friendly building. So props on that. That's the main reason I'm here. Also, the proximity to downtown is great. I've never had any issues with bugs (although I know in the past bed bugs have been an issue) - I haven't even had a fly in my apartment. The turn side to our great dt location is that low income housing is right across the street, so we have every wanna-be gangster a few blocks from our building. I've never personally had a problem, but I know several people personally who have had crap happen to their car (windows busted out, mirrors taken off, etc). I would recommend this building to those interested in a dog friendly, close to downtown or the naval base apartment. I find the building quiet and friendly. The staff is nice, and I honestly find them helpful. The units are decent and a good size. One person commented about rent going up every year - welcome to real life buddy. It happens everywhere - it's called inflation. That being said, if there were other dog friendly apartments close to downtown I would consider moving to get away from the surrounding "community" of those sitting on their front lawn smoking in their sweatpants or pajamas, listening to some wacked version of rap on the newest version of Iphone while I go to work everyday to pay for them to have those nice things. Thanks a lot welfare. read more

Wish i could rate it 0. Everything is horrible about this place. i lived at Harbour view from sep 2015 to aug 2016. I am an internationl student so i did not know that these were the apartments to remain away from. I tried to book the apartment while i was in my country and i swear i started to feel right then that the management was awful. Everytime i would call the managment office someone would pick up the call and tell me that the 1 bedroom/bachelor apartment you were looking for has been taken by someone else. How could an apartment be booked within an hour that they run out of units. When i entered my unit it was smelly and the floor was sticky and within a day staying there i found that the place was infested by bedbugs. I went to complain about the unit being dirty to get it cleaned and for a bed bug treatment but nothing was done for like half a month. For like after the treatment done 3 times the unit was then free from bedbugs. The person who used to sit in the management office literally told me that i have to clean the place because they are having some problem with the cleaners. I tried searching for a roommate for months but people who knew about this place would never come. I paid 960$ for this awful place for an year. I got my security deposit by the 2nd month i left the place and that too i had to call them where the person kept me on hold for soooo long. She told me that i didn't write the address of the new place i am moving to so they couldn't send the security deposit cheque but i am sure i did write my new address. When i went to collect the cheque the person just danced with my ID for nearly 20 min and i get to know its not in the office they will have to get a new one made and will send it to my address. I had to face those shitty people once again after a month when i got to know when i called that the cheque is in the office. One person says the cheque is in the office the other says its not. What the hell!!!!?? Fortunately i got the cheque. My $70 is stuck at the office taken from me as electricity charge which i am not able to take from them . Every time i contact them they say the revenue analyst is looking into the matter . I even mailed him but he doesn't reply. I don't know what to do. Lastly, stay away. Noises, garbage all over the place and worst management. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

Be very aware before renting at this location. I have spoke with many unhappy tenants and we too have been victim of their bullying and lack of empathy towards tenant issues. We have lived in heritage house for over a year and have amassed over 10 pages of documented issues we have encountered during our time here which include: 1. No heat - literally, in November the oil tank in our building went empty and we had no heat for the weekend. The on-call super couldn't order oil because he didn't have the authority do. Then when the they finally did order oil the building wasn't capable of producing heat to keep the apartment warm. It was so cold in our unit we had to purchase draft seal and weather stripping after complaining about the constant cold air coming through - we were never reimbursed. We purchased a thermometer and recorded the temperature in our unit over 5 weeks (including over Christmas) before we had to call the HRM By-Law enforcement who ordered an immediate remedy. This was all after we were phoning our building manager numerous (all documented) times to let him know our bathroom wasn't able to get warmer than +15 degrees with the heat on. 2. A rodent infestation that would make you think we lived in a dump. We thrown out more mice than I ever cared to touch in my life. On two separate occasions in 2012 we could smell something rotting (we first thought some fruit or something fell somewhere) in our unit only to discover that a mouse died in our walls and then behind our stove. We smelled another rotting smell JUST THIS WEEK and found one dead under our radiator in a hole. 3. Bed bugs. Evidently, according to the pest control company that came by, the building has had issues with them which managed failed to alert us to. We received a preventative treatment and search in the summer which management said "looked clean and there were no signs of bed bugs," but yet after discovering them two weeks ago the specialist said they have been around for months. 4. Water damage during a rain storm in November 2012. We encountered serious water damage to our ceiling during a rain storm that cause a part of the ceiling to leak through and run down the walls (ruins pictures/art). It took them over 4 weeks to just come in and crack fill over the plaster. When sanded the ceiling down I came home to plaster dust covering everything in our bedroom and even as far as our kitchen. There was no effort to clean the mess they made nor did they offer to clean it when I went over to complain. Each time we raise a complaint the management will claim "they are doing all they can" which is a recorded answer they give every time we have an issue. I'm sure other buildings are having issues because I constantly see the pest control company's truck in the lot. I have a lot of sympathy for those who live in the main tower because they are replacing the underground parking in that building and have been jack hammering Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 4pm for the last few months. Some tenants I spoke to said the sound is unbearable but they can't get out of their lease because management said that by informing them of the work in advance they have given consent to ok the work. Seriously. If you are thinking about moving here - don't. We are moving out and plan on warning everyone about the issues we have had. read more

So I have been living in the Harbour View Apts since August 2013. If I didn't sign the year long lease, I would have been out of here a lot sooner. I DO NOT recommend anyone to live here. I live on the top floor and we've had mice, fleas, no heat, a hole in our ceiling, a water pipe explode, leaky windows, and more. What has management done, just about nothing. It took them 2 months to fix our smoke detector, even though I had put in 3 different work orders. The heat didn't work until November. I constantly bugged them to fix the hole in my ceiling, but they say I haven't placed a work order (complete lie. I've placed 5 now). The management tries to screw us over whenever possible it seems. I don't think they give two shits about the people who live here. When my roommate and I first moved in, we were on a different floor. We got moved to the top floor because a pipe burst and flooded the apartment. They let everything sit for so long that we got black mold all over the place and had a large amount of our stuff water damaged. They tried to fix the moldy wall by painting over it and saying that it was safe to live there. Not acceptable! If you come across this place and are wooed by the price and/or location, think about it. If you are okay with the possibility of mice, cockroaches, fleas, bedbugs, and no one to help you with your apartment problems, then go ahead and live here. Otherwise, don't come near. If I could, this would be lower than a 1/5. This is so far the worst place I've ever lived. read more

Wanted to give this place a zero. This place sucks and is the worst apartment I have ever lived in.The building is full of mice crawling everywhere.Got the treatment for pests but after 2 weeks another mouse appeared. But the worst of them all are bed bugs. It was comfortable in the winter but as soon as summer started my room is fully infected with it. I asked for a treatment, they did it 4 times with no effect. It always stinks in the basement and not to mention the continuous noise as there will be a continuous construction going on during the week which is technically illegal. The management sucks especially all those dumb old fools who sit in the rental office who are not even properly trained to handle the software tools and machines. Please don't come to this building it was the worst decision of my life. read more

There were cockroaches, mould, and bedbugs. Management did not properly fix any of these problems and it took weeks for them to even come and look at anything. There are also major structural issues, uneven floors, uneven and cracked drywall, cracked and broken baseboards etc. causing issues. The entire building is infested with vermin. Management is incompetent, they 'forget' to file and 'lose' paperwork such as tenant complaints and work orders. The building is falling apart and instead of dealing with these serious issues properly they decide to use ineffective and cheap quick fixes. Do not rent with Capreit. EDIT: No John, we did not. We moved out as the problems with the building are beyond repair. Thank god we were on a month to month lease. Though, for about a month they told us they could not 'find' the paperwork of us switching over. The bugs are everywhere. The entire building needs to be either tented or demolished. I honestly feel really bad for the people who are going to be moving in next, not knowing the unit-nay, the entire building- is infested with cockroaches and bedbugs. We see them in the common areas as well. The treatments they do for cockroaches are ineffective, as we have had at least 2 treatments in the year and a half we lived there with little improvement. We had asked for weeks for a third treatment because we did not want to bring bugs to our new place and were met with no response. I personally went into the office twice to ask and both times they said they would drop a notice under our door, a month went by and nothing was done. I'm not sure if they stopped caring because we were moving out. I don't understand how these realtors can wake up every morning and sell these units to people knowing full well they are moving them into an apartment full of bedbugs, mould, and cockroaches. I'm sure when they show the building they do not address these problems, or mitigate their seriousness if they are brought up by the future tenants. Morally that is something I would not be able to do. It hurts my heart knowing people are moving in there only to have to throw away all of their belongings when they are met with bedbugs. The funny thing is one of the realtors actually caught an attitude when she thought that we wanted to move into the building she lived in. Stating, "what problems does your unit have? I can show you a unit but we're going to have to make sure your place doesn't have bedbugs first." It seems she only cared when she thought these problems would potentially affect her and her home, but is completely fine moving people into these problems and then not properly helping them when they need it(Maria). We told her we would rather not deal with her or Capreit ever again. Positives: Not all of the people in the rental/management office are condescending and incompetent. Some were really nice and helpful, taking time to answer our questions and help us fix issues. They also do heat treatments for the bedbugs which is a good method to use. We see machines at the front of our building doing treatments for units everyday. Though, when you get bedbugs they don't really go away no matter what you do. You basically have to throw away all of your belongings no matter how many heat treatments you get. At the end of the day, you can definitely find apartments for the same price or even lower that are not infested with all types of vermin. I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived in Harbour View apartments for almost 2 years now. For a little over a year we had no problems (aside from the management being absolutely useless, seeing a cockroach, and hearing mice in the walls..) Then ~6 months ago, we started getting bug bites. Bed bugs, surprise surprise. A couple at first here and there, then it got to the point where we couldn't even stay here anymore. Paying $1000 a month for a place we can't even live in. After a lot of hassle and too much delay, we got 2 chemical treatments done, and finally a heat treatment (which we were all but promised would eliminate the problem). Each chemical treatment seemed to work for a few days, until the eggs hatched and we started getting bitten again. After the heat treatment, they brought in the "bed bug detective" dogs, and surprise surprise, they're still here. We're still getting bites. At this point, we're absolutely fed up. This has been going on for months and months. We have to throw out our bed, our couches, I've had to miss a couple of shifts at work in order to deal with all of this crap. Spent over a hundred dollars recently on laundry, because everything has to be washed in hot hot water. I'm not even going to mention the amount of stress it's causing. The most infuriating part, is that the management is absolutely useless. Especially in the rental office. They are condescending, and do absolutely nothing to help our problem. Our lease is up August 31st, but there's no way I'm paying $1000 a month for the entire summer, to live in a bug infested place that we can't even be in. When we had a meeting with the "manager", he was, like the rest of them, no help. Very condescending. Said that it was our "personal decision" to throw out our bed and couches. Said that there is absolutely no way we can leave by June 1st. But the most appalling thing is that he suggested we sublet the apartment out. When we asked how we can ethically sublet our place to someone, knowing that it's infested with bugs, his response was "I understand that it's an awkward situation; but there's really not much else you can do". Unbelievable. My point: DO NOT LIVE HERE. read more

If I could give Zero stars, I would. I'm actually really sad to have to really give a bad review as, honestly, we loved our apartment. We had lived in our apartment for one year, without any issues except some noise complaints, but then in the beginning of our second year, many units began to show signs of bed bugs, including ours. We had our unit sprayed over 5 times and had to get rid of most of our furniture but we're dealing with the problem for at least 6 months without much help from the office. We found out the bugs are in the ventilation systems. So even if they spray, the bugs retreat and come back! We only would get 2 days rest after a spray was done, and we had to remove ourselves and our pets each time! Honestly they need to tent the whole building to dissolve this problem! Even just moving out, they wouldn't let us leave with our deposit and we had to go to our doctors to PROVE that the bedbugs were affecting our health in order to get out of the lease. A year after we moved out, my partner returned to the building and found out our old unit was STILL being treated for bedbugs. We even asked if there were bedbugs before and they said no. Like what!? I saw reviews after I moved in where so many people complained of them but I never thought we'd get them. Look, if you don't mind being eaten alive by insects, the views are wonderful, and the units are nice, clean and mostly quiet, but it's so not worth the extreme cost of replacing all your furniture and clothes. read more

Doesn't even deserve a star. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Management is a joke and bed bugs are a huge problem. Have had to get fumigated 3x in 4 months. They let in unhygienic, disgusting tenants that spread their filth and leave their garbage spread across the 2nd parking lot levels lobby. Don't be mistaken by a moderately nice mainfloor lobby, this place is gross. I was victim of an attempted mugging on the street so it's not even a good neighborhood. They've had JACK FRICKEN HAMMERS BANGING IN THE BASEMENT FOR 3 FRICKEN MONTHS AND I CAN HEAR IT FROM THE 17TH FRICKEN FLOOR 9AM SHARP YOU DANK HIPPIES. Traffic noise is awful from up there too and we've had 4 false fire alarms in the brief time I've lived here, plus multiple cat suicides from the balconies. It's pet friendly which is the only thing this place has going for it, if you don't love your pets and want them to get fleas and rashes. I would swear on my life that you should never live here. Frick, University DORMS were more hygienic than this place. Laundry takes $10 per load because the dryers don't work and YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR DAMP, MOIST, GROSS Laundry facilities. You only get one Internet connection per lot. Walls are thinner than the management's brains. Parties are common and loud with plenty of police, firetrucks, and ambulances showing up: enough to sink the Titanic twice. Did I mention the walls that break if you hit them too hard. I leaned against a wall and broke it. You can't even hang up curtains because the walls just crumble under the weight. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! (Sorry billy) There's no fricken heat here either. You have to run the bathtub with hot water to heat the place unless you want to be paying for electricity. Luckily water is included. Did I mention mice? Because there's mice. A lot of them. Bed bugs resurface every couple weeks so don't let them reassure you with "we just fumigated" because they're doing that every week or so. The balconies don't retain any heat and you can feel a draft from the fricken single-pane glass doors. The floors look like they're stained with the ashes of burnt soul offerings and no amount of bleach could help that. The bathrooms have legit rotting walls. Rotting. Yes. The handles in the shower are for show, as I learned after trying to use them, soon after being greeted with a bathtub in the face and a acrylic handle in my hand. It's attached less than Miley Cyrus to reality. Know what the best part of all of it is? It hasn't killed me. Yet. Getting out of here ASAP. DON'T STOP ME NOW!!!! read more

By far the biggest mistake was moving into this building. It's full of drug attics, bugs, roaches and black mold my God is it everywhere. Not to mention the used needles everywhere. Now the garbage is another big issue, it just piles up and smells horrible. Please do not come here, I am counting down the days to get out of this horrid building. read more

I have been a tenant at this apartment building for a year and have actually been pleasantly surprised. We moved here as last resort because we needed to find a dog-friendly apartment on short notice, but for the location and the price we plan on staying an additional year. Our apartment has been recently upgraded and re-finished and it is really quite nice, and the grounds are kept very clean. We have had no problems with pests of any kind and the staff have always been very helpful. read more

Please read this and know it's from a born and raised Haligonian. We have all heard about the problems with these buildings before the takeover by Capreit, when they were called Ocean Towers. I decided I would give Capreit a chance by seeing one of the units as they were one of the cheapest options available downtown. They also offered me a $1200 move in bonus since I worked for the Department of National Defence which certainly helped lean my decision. Everything they showed me looked good; the promise of changing over tenants, the renovations, new underground parking complex, it all sounded and looked quite promising. I even felt I was being treated better because of who my employer is, by being shown the newly renovated units, high up on the 15th floor of the tower with the least reported pest problems. At the end of the day, I regret even stepping foot on that property. Its to no fault of any one individual as much as it is just the total lack of care provided by the management company. The bed bugs run rampant in all 3 towers, they have taken the most expensive method as a last resort to eliminate the problem but are failing to do so. For the entire Summer/Fall of 2016 I watched 3 units a day get heat treated and yet the problem continued to spread. I personally reported a problem on August 12th, 2016. I did not receive any communication back in a week so I demanded someone do something. They scheduled a K-9 inspection almost 2 weeks later near the end of August. It happened while I was at work and I did not receive any communication about how it went. Long story short here, they took the dog's nose over my own evidence of bites and captured adult bed bugs and did not treat my apartment. Needless to say I left without warning and would welcome the legal battle that I'm sure they will initiate. I would not recommend these buildings or Capreit for that matter to even my worst enemies. The list of major and small problems I could add to this review would hit the floor. Be warned, these buildings should be torn down, not leased as rapidly as possible with no regard for its tenant's well-being. read more

Ocean Towers is under new management and has really improved over the past few months. The effort so far has been very noticeable. It has to be one of the best deals in town given the rental rate, proximity to downtown and beautiful views. I really like it here and recommend it to anybody. The staff are great as well, very helpful. read more

I had moved into Harbourview Apts Jan2014 and had an issue with bedbugs & heat but after speaking to office it was corrected fast. I put a work order in and the maintenance guy Ron came and address the issue and had to get a part but we were never forgotten about... fix the following day. Since then I had no issues in the building. Office staff is great! I understand Renting sometimes can be a pain but so far so good. Rec'd rent increase and yes it's manageable .. like you have to look at the out bills like land taxes, hydro cost .. and all that.. I love the area - close to work and not far from stuff.. walking distances read more

Please Re-Read Zubair review and understand that his completely true, I had lived here for a year and I took all the crap that this place had. Mice, Roaches, no security at all because of the cost and location. But this is a slum, nothing more than that. The reason though I felt the need to write this is because of the blatantly illegal construction. they have been redoing the underground parking, at 8am every morning the drilling starts and your entire apartment will begin to shake. it's so bad that pictures fall off the wall, dishes and glasses fall and break, our tv had to be tied so it wouldn't fall and this will go on till 5:30-6 every...freakin...day. This has been going on for months. Yes you read right, months. If that wasn't bad enough the entire hallway becomes filled with dust and dirt from the vent system that leads to the parking. O man and don't even think about talking to the people who work here. They don't seem to be bad people (except the young guy with the pink shirt, gunked hair and rings on rings, his useless) but I think they've been left with a sinking ship. So don't do the lazy thing and just take this place cause its convenient and cheap, Think! Think hard and wonder why its so cheap? its a slum, do yourself a favor and move any place else. read more

I am living here for last 5 months and not at all recommend for living. Having mice in my apartment for 1 month, but they couldn't give any solution. Rental office people are laziest of all. Never willing to offer any solution. You say you have a serious mice problem, they will say OK, that's it. You say you haven't given me my mailbox key after one month of moving, they will say OK, not even will explain why. If you are the laziest person in Nova Scotia, be sure they will hire you for their rental and management office. Asking for mice traps for last couple of weeks, all I get the answer is we have ordered them. Not sure when they will arrive. I am sure they haven't ordered yet. My kitchen was flooded one day and they took it almost a week to fix it. Thank god there are no bedbugs yet in my place. They won't ever fix it. Thinking of suing them for harassment at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service. If anyone has suggestion on filing complain against them, please comment. Never move in here. This place and the management do not even deserve any rating. read more

Do not move here. For those who don't think it could be "that bad", it is. After only a month of living here, we have had to deal with the unthinkable. We moved from a different province and on our move in day, came to find out our suite had been flooded and we were unable to move in. They didn't even call us and let us know beforehand after we had paid for transportation and moving services. Ever since then we have had to deal with bed bugs and water damage issues - both of which they said they have fixed but have absolutely not. They offer "first month free" but don't actually give it to you. You think you don't have to pay but then you'll end up with a note under your door threatening to evict you and charging you with a late fee for not paying. It seems like every time I turn around there is a new issue arising but when I try and go to someone about it, no one listens. You have to chase after management if you want anything done because they will ignore you. I was supposed to be given a $100 laundry to cover costs of THEIR bedbug problem but ended up spending money out of MY pocket for the 2 weeks I waited and repeatedly asked for this card. I was beyond patient with Harbour View and never complained, but after reaching out to management and Capreit numerous times and not getting the slightest bit of concern or understanding in return, I am fed up. These people only want your money and do not care about you. Stay away. read more
