We've had furnace malfunctions and flooding in the basement from heavy rains and yet, everything is fixed in no time flat. They took me to Fenwick Tower too see "a superb apartment" WAW mice traps below radiators with couple BED BUGS trapped on them. I was running out as soon as I could. They sent me to Queen Sana for a "much better" apartment. When I arrived there and meet the superintendent, he smells alcohol at 11 am and he was mad on the owner that his apartment flooded again. 2 minutes later I left the property. I will never come back to this company. False advertising and low quality apartments are theirs fortes.

The brightly coloured homes and funky old shops have so much more going for them than the new pre-fab soulless monstrosities that are cropping up everywhere...' And thus my lament for old Halifax continued until I stopped to read the sign for the Glubes Loft Townhouses! The people behind Glubes are trying to create eco-urban housing in the downtown core! Specifically, they are trying to incorporate: old georgian architectural style (the style of the afore mentioned colourful houses... they even "adaptively reused" huge chunks of the preexisting building in the form of douglas fir beams), insulated and energy efficient technology, a mixture of small and large style units that are stacked specifically with space optimization in mind, therefor taking up less land, insulating shutters, and finally these condos are located in the downtown core! I saw numerous bikes attached to the outer railings of these homes, indicating that people living here are doing away with vehicles in favor of living downtown! The best part of all though is that these units are priced in a fairly reasonable margin for people in their late 20's/early 30's. $130,000 you could not buy most condos for my friends! Overall, I was delighted to see this eco-shift at work in the downtown core of Halifax today! (Can you tell I want to live in a Glube?)
