It was renovated just before we moved in. Coin laundry down the hall. We've never had an issue with noise or neighbors. The landlords are pleasant to deal with and all seem to care about the tenants. They also allow cats which is a huge plus. The have to be fixed and you have to sign a additional form for them. Water and heat are included- heat gets turned on when the cold weather starts so if you get a chill in September you have either buy a space heater or bundle up.

The staff here are very nice and handle requests in a timely matter. Our apartment was updated for us before moving in (new flooring, closet doors, stove, paint) and we had no issues moving in. Our rent is month to month at no extra cost, and the rent price is quite reasonable for 2 bedrooms, balcony, 3 appliances, and heat/water included. So far, we have had no issues with other tenants (noise etc) and the laundry facilities are much much better than Killam (they work! and are only 1.25 wash and 1.50 dry). We do hear occasional noise from the tenants above us, but nothing more than what is normal (walking, vacumming). And from what we are told, they don't put up with noisy tenants. The location is also pretty convinient, close to the bridges and ferry. The only complaint that we have is the parking is not the best (at least out front) - good luck finding a spot after 8pm and the spots are quite small so parking is tight, and a few tenants really do not know how to park. I reccomend avoiding the big name apartment brands (Killam for example) because they don't care about their tenants - Harbour Shore is local to Dartmouth and they care about their tenants, which is why many people here have been here for awhile. Check it out if you are looking for a place in Dartmouth (1 or 2 bedroom).

While it was a process in itself getting approved for the apartment, even with a legitimate co-signer, negative overtones would play a role long after the initial move-in. The super-intendant, and the woman I dealt with during the pre-rental process, struck me as unprofessional from the very beginning. There was a constant demonstration of her level of authority, as her actions and tones of conversation made it seem as though I-- a mere student and apparent delinquent-- was lucky to be there. Wait a minute... I thought this was a mutual agreement, isn't that what a lease is? The obvious bias for whatever reason was notable, and her ways of dealing with myself and roommates reflected poor ethics and unprofessionalism. This was my first time renting in this kind of large building, and perhaps I gave her too much power in the beginning-- being younger and a bit timid, there are some folks who will take advantage of that. She was one of those folks. The apartment building was pristine and lovely, however, the stiff unprofessionalism present was enough not for me to renew my lease. It seemed as though a lack of moral integrity was involved, and she did not seem to comprehend the fact that this was a mutual agreement, and I should be taken just as seriously as the young professional next door. Many of my own issues throughout the tenancy were brushed to the side, and replied with flaky responses. Paramount needs to work on its framework. The people who tenants see everyday hugely reflect the business, and the way this woman managed was downright despicable. Straight-up.

The staff were dismissive and unhelpful and I sense shady business going on. if i am not compensated for my damage deposit / missing items I am taking this business to court. from the look of all of the comments on here and a few lawyers who as close to me- a class action law suit should do the trick. absolutely crooked rental.

I've been renting a parking…read morespace here for about four years and have fallen down the set of concrete stairs when the light in the stairwell burned out (took 3 mos of persistent advocating to get this fixed). I have been followed by people (on foot) outside the parkade. I've been followed by people in a car inside the parkade and had to randomly hide between cars so they could not see where I parked. Today I pulled in and saw a young man grossly mishandling his dog which included choking it and screaming at top volume directly in its face. I parked and could still hear the man screaming at full volume and this reverberating through the parkade. I politely asked him to lower his voice because his yelling was triggering, making me feel unsafe and because it is a shared space (did not even comment on the dog abuse i witnessed while driving to my parking spot). He became irate and chased me (there was approximately four car lengths in distance between us) into my car. I was just able to jump in the car and lock the doors and call 911. As soon as I shut the car door her proceeded to pound on my car, scream at me, and pace behind my car so I could not leave. When the police arrived he began to escalate with them and they permitted me to leave. I am not sure if this young man was a resident of the building but rest assured that the parkade itself is absolutely NOT a safe space for women. Please consider this if you are considering living or parking here.

We were told when we moved in that it was a fully secure building, you only have access to your own floor, but if you knew people who lived on another floor they would allow you access to that floor as well. So we encouraged our friends to move into this building as well only for the building management to pretend like they never told us this, treat us like we were stupid, and then we find out that the majority of tenants actually have access to other floors, especially ours. When we brought this up to them they told us it was a mistake and that we can't have access because it's a security issue, but they will not revoke anyone else's access either. Useless company, should be fined for lying to perspective tenants. 10/10 DO NOT RENT HERE.

Our apartment flooded due to a design flaw in the building--something entirely out of our control--and CAPREIT, including Associate Director Jennifer Bateman, has done everything possible to avoid taking responsibility. They wasted months making us jump through hoops only to turn around and tell us to go through insurance, which would cost us $1,000 out of pocket. They simply do not care. Maintenance is slow, property managers change constantly, and any issue that costs them money will be ignored or deflected. Do yourself a favor and rent anywhere else.

"Downtown Halifax" is literally right around the corner and offers hundreds of eating, drinking, and entertainment options. It's a very safe area being so closely linked with the Financial District along with the fact the Halifax Police Station is situated right behind the building. The thing that makes the 1920 different In my opinion is the people. The maintenance crew is fantastic, they're always very helpful and will be at your door at a moments notice. They genuinely care about your experience living in the building and want your unit to be it's best. Lane and Cathy in the Leasing office are fantastic people, from the moment I moved in they've been kind, accommodating, and understanding. I had a couple issues with my bank and therefore my rent was late for a couple months, upon explaining the situation to them they were very understanding and helpful throughout the process. I feel as if every time I go into their office it's a great experience and they see you as a person not just a tenant paying rent. The cost is on the higher end, but you can see the value in the units through things like the appliances (All brand new Whirlpool Appliances) and the overall finish of the apartments. I would highly suggest giving the 1920 a visit if you're looking for a place to live in Halifax
