There's just something about a warm afternoon or evening at Harbour Park that never gets old, even if the stadium itself is starting to show a little age. We've been coming here for years and it always feels like a win, whether the Tides do or not! Tickets are super reasonably priced, which makes it easy to say yes. It's a wholesome, easy night out for the whole family cheering on our home team with the Elizabeth River glimmering in the background. The mascots can usually be spotted hanging out near 3rd base in the concourse for a photo op. Lots of tasty options when it comes to food, and I appreciate that there's usually something for everyone. We'll keep coming back, season after season, cheering loud for our Tides and soaking up that community spirit. I really don't like baseball, but I love it here! Great concessions, and clean restrooms! Had all the ballpark faves (dog, pretzel, cotton candy, and funnel cake fries (whaaaat?!?). And the fireworks that particular night went on forever; just like 4th of July! Great announcer for silly entertainment like the organ songs, and games with people dressed in ridiculous costumes! Before I begin, let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone. So with that being said let's begin!!. For those of you that don't follow sports, this is a Triple AAA affiliate baseball team for the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball team!. We arrived at the ball park at approximately 5:45, we got our tickets and had to try and locate our seats. We had to ask three different employees before we were able to get pointed in the right direction. That's why I took of one star, but other than that everything else went smoothly. The seats were right off the 3 base line upper deck and the view was amazing! It reminds me of a professional baseball game! Sort of,kind of.. I am very familiar with ball parks from being born and growing up in NYC, I remember my parents taking me and my siblings to Yankee Stadium ( the old and original stadium that is now a park in the Bronx )and Shea Stadium ( which is now called Citi Field ) I know I'm telling my age, but I'm good with my maturity! :-) I'm a sports fan, so if it's a game I'm there!!.. I took a picture, but I was more focused on being there than taking snap shots, my apologies to my fellow yelpers ( I'll be sure to take more pics on my next visit ) I shall return again. The stadium and field are nice, but getting in (traffic) was a disaster. We took an Uber and probably saved at least 40 minutes from if we had to park, but still missed the first half inning. Then, there's the super cramped concourse that was a nightmare to get through with so many people standing in line for concessions. We had to go to three different lines to get food and drinks that we wanted and missed ANOTHER 3 innings. Finally, in our seats and it's the end of the fourth inning. I felt like a dodger fan, except we weren't planning to leave in the 7th. We decided not to leave for more food and drink so we wouldn't miss more of the game. No vendors in the aisles which is a drag. The sound and the scoreboard were very good, and we had fun watching the between-innings activities. Simba Cam was very funny. Happy to have seen this place, but I probably wouldn't go back, just to avoid the frustration. read more

Way a beautiful location, especially once the sun sets. Seems to be a good amount of parking though some lots are cut off after a certain time. We parked for $6 under the highway bridges. It's a really nice park but you have to watch out for those balls! We weren't able to walk all the way around, but I saw some interesting food stands. We opted for fries that were top 5 and dipping dots of course; both coming in little souvenir baseball hats for like a dollar more. I thoroughly enjoyed my first baseball game. We have a minor league baseball team right in our city! What better way to spend summer days and nights than watching the Tides? We went for Father's Day and it was perfect weather. Tickets are about $17 and there are no bad seats. We upgraded our seats ($6 more) day of the game to a 4 seat table. IT WAS WORTH IT! It's a minor league ballpark. What is there not to love? Everything about this place is great. It's an open-air minor league ballpark, and it's a lot of fun. There are two levels of seating, field level and then an upper level. There are also luxury boxes as well. There are plenty of food vendors to choose from and the prices are fairly reasonable (it is a ballpark). DK on Friday and Fireworks every Home Game on Saturdays. Plenty of food offerings including and all you can eat buffet, soft drinks included but not alcohol at Hits Restaurant on the Right Field concourse. Staff is very friendly. Had my first Minor League baseball game experience here! Had a blast. This place is kept very clean and its appreciated! We took the Tide to get here (a 1 day pass is $4.50 a person while parking is $10 a car so for two people we saved a dollar). After getting off the Tide you just basically walk right up to the park. Buying tickets at the box office was very simple. No line. The only downside was that buying them the day of, you get stuck with the crappy seats. Which is weird because there were a ton of empty seats in the areas we wanted to sit in. Lots of concessions. We were kept entertained by the announcer and the small games in between innings. Navigating the stadium was very simple. And the whole place was well lit. We also got free hats! Really had a great experience for a first timer :) read more

Harbor park is a great place to enjoy a baseball game at a reasonable price. They have plenty of concessions stands and special event nights. Many of the concession stands are manned by volunteers who are raising money for a good cause. You can find various Sailors raising money for a good cause and other non profit foundations. Another fabulous minor league baseball experience at our hometown Harbor Park. Tides beat Scranton 4-3 at today's 12n game, watched with family/friends from the comfort of a level 4 press box stocked with standard park food/bev fare. Service was great (thanks Judy and Mike). Space had an HDTV (that showed the game), bar/sink, 2 leather couches and a coffee table. Looking out at the stadium through 3 large windows were 6 adjustable padded bar chairs, a bar counter and 6 fixed box seats. Game audio streamed through volume controlled room speakers. While a very neat experience, truth be told, I prefer the level 3 boxes and reserved seating because I love sitting outside to experience the live feeling/sound of the game. Plus, you get more chances to catch flyballs and interact with players. Still, a great Thursday afternoon family experience enjoying America's great pass time. read more

This ballpark was awesome! We were traveling and decided to stop and watch a game. They had an awesome amount of fan involvement as well as getting the younger children involved. They had music and little shows basically anytime they switched an inning. It was fairly clean and staff members were extremely friendly. They have awesome food vendors and the cheesesteaks I had here, were so good. Seats weren't fully occupied which gave us some nice arm room. A ballgame is always a fun night out, and Harbor Park is holding up well for a 25+ year old minor leauge stadium. It's in a nice setting downtown, with riverfront views beyond the outfield. It's an easy walk from downtown, has a light rail station adjacent, and plenty of parking. I mark it down to three stars primarily because of concessions. There is a very limited choice of food options here, and they are all extraordinarily expensive. In many cases, items are more expensive here than they are at their major league affiliate in Baltimore. That is true even for vendor canned beer. Paying a high price is one thing, but the quality is also poor. In addition, you are not allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. That would be a good way to give people on a budget a good option. The Orioles in Baltimore allow that, you would think they're AAA team would follow suit. read more

This was a memorable moment for my kids yesterday. They had their hotdogs chips and drinks. Tides won 2-0 and to end it off the fireworks were amazing. Staff was attentive and surprisingly even the bathrooms were well kept. Food is a bit high ($28 for a family pack 4 hotdogs 4 chips & 4 drinks) was the best deal. A single hotdog was $4-$5! One of the players walked up and even gave my 6 year old son a game baseball. Now how can you beat that!! We had a wonderful experience. Paring is tough being cash ($5-$6) in case you arrive and the free parking is all taken. It's a bit frustrating when the police / parking attendants are saying you can't park here but there's clearly free open spaces in your eyesight. So arrive early to avoid it all and enjoy the game and giveaways. Good family fun ! read more

We were here for (what else?) a baseball game. Braves at Tides. Good parking and great access via light rail, but we walked over from the hotel. Nice engagement with all the sponsors, many focused on the kids. Tug of war. Spinning and then running. Race "Riptide" (the mascot) around the bases. That kind of thing. It's not a sausage race (Milwaukee) or a Presidents race (Washington), but it was very cute. Lots of good seats in the 100 and 200 level with a good view of the field and the scoreboard. I had bought front row tickets on the third base line but there was NO ONE else in our row or in the two rows behind us. WTH? The announcer said that attendance was 2600, but that was off by at least a thousand. There is no way that many people came through the turnstiles because way more than two thirds of the seats were empty. Decent food concessions. The usual beers and hot dogs but also a barbecue place that was really good. Tides won, 1-0. read more

I've visited Harbor Park quite a few times - attended several baseball games here for work and friend functions and I also recently participated in the Corporate 5k held here. I like the waterfront location and there is a pretty decent amount of parking on-site - if not there are nearby garages you can park in for small hourly fees depending on how long you'll stay that are very reasonable (think a few dollars at most). I like that Harbor Park has walking trails leading back to the main roads and/or you can meander past the water and end up at Waterside gazing across to Portsmouth. The stadium is well-maintained and clean and has plenty of bathroom facilities. Onsite food is what you'd expect - standard baseball game fare (burgers, hot dogs, nachos) and of course beer which I don't drink. There is restaurant at the far side of the stadium which overlooks the field so if you manage to get inside early and snag a window seat you can watch and eat in air conditioning. If you come to watch a baseball game in the middle of the day prepare to roast to death if you are in the sun. You will have no shade and no respite so you'll want a hat and cover and sunscreen or you will fry. A lesson learned long ago so I always try for a further back covered seat. read more

They even have people from the audience participate in games to win prizes during the top and bottom innings. The mascots are hilarious too!!! The field/stadium is beautiful!! I sat in section 117 in row F! Great seats!! I even had about 5 balls get hit in my direction!! So cool!!! But I didn't catch any...those balls come 80+ mph and I had no glove...sheeeesh. I'll catch one in my hat one day I suppose. But aside from the game, Flamingo Joe's employee's go up and down each isle selling: cotton candy, soda, snow cones and peanuts Beer, water, popcorn, nachos, burgers, fries, and all the fixings can be found and sold on the main deck from one end to the other. There is a restaurant (closed in) on site. Not sure why anyone would want to eat inside when the weather is soooooooooooooo gorge out! But It looked as if it was busy busy in there. If you plan to bring a large crowd or your company is planning an event...definitely check out the catering options the park provides. Your own caterers, own section to sit and eat and watch the game...personal attendants. This is set up sorta behind the field, but still a great time! Kind VIP ish. They have box seats, but I didn't see where they were located. Sky boxes are available as well...this is just a neato stadium!! The commentators are great as well!! I didn't catch any mix ups or stutters....so good job!! I haven't been a MLB game so I do not have anything to compare this experience too...hence the missing 5th star. Parking around the Harbor Park is $5 and ticket prices range from $11-$14. So if you want to save $5 park a few blocks away and walk...good exercise. Or catch the "Tide" (light rail train) for less. Check out their website before you attend to see what's going on for the game you wish to attend. The night I went happened to feature a lot things...free stuff, super heros, mascots from area companies etc. and fireworks. It's definitely a day of big fun and relaxation the same time. The hubs and I try to get out to a few games a year to get our baseball fix, especially if the PawSox or Scranton are in town. The park itself is a really nice place to take in a game. But as nice as the park is, I'm not sure why they can't give the bathrooms a nice upgrade. They're pretty atrocious. Ticket prices are fairly decent. The food/drinks, however, are on par with major league parks, which is absolutely ridiculous. Their saving grace in that aspect is the craft beer stand. I may have to pay a $9 a beer, but at least it's quality local brew. The addition of the table seating in the stands on the first base side is awesome, but it's hit or miss as to whether or not you can upgrade to that section on a given day. If it's rented out, forget about it. Last time we went it was rented out, but only about a third of it was actually being used. They need to figure out a better way to manage how much of it is being used during a rental. Most of that section was just sitting there empty when we'd have been more than willing to pay the upgrade to sit there. Despite some of the caveats, I still enjoy going out for some baseball, beer and blue cotton candy at Harbor Park! read more

Harbor Park offers good views of the game from all around the stadium, has a variety of good food choices include local ones like YNot, has easy and fairly inexpensive parking and is just a fun place to come to overall! I think that their ticket prices are very fair especially given that it's a nice thing for families to do and is kid-friendly! We asked for seating in a shaded area but didn't get it. We just changed seating to a better area to get out of the heat. There is lots of good food but it is expensive to eat there. Next time I will get seating in the upper area out if direct sun. It was very hot today. I will definitely be back for more games. read more

Overall, Harbor Park is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. In my opinion this is a better place for dates than heading out to a movie or bar scene. The place is full of locals and we're all cheering on the home team. Something about being at a baseball game that makes life relaxing...until a foul ball comes flying your way. This is far from attending a MLB game but this is all we have in town. Glad to see the pitching machine that measures how fast you throw is still there. Glad to see they only charge $1 again instead of the $3 they did a few years ago. Only thing that irritates me about the place is that it sits on the water and mild nights elsewhere turn into cold nights there with the wind. Plus, unsupervised bratty ass kids run around so you have to be careful to not spill the beer in your hand. Get to the games early or you're parking on dirt. The environment outside of the park is a bit suspicious if you ask me. Eat Downtown if possible. Prices are more than I care to spend for mediocre food. read more

Not so great when you get lost in their - odd in one side and even on the other side - seating arrangements. Also not so great when it's raining or even when those pesky pollen paint the seats yellow, over their Tides blue. Refreshments and drinks are pretty damn affordable, considering a beer would cost you a 6 pack. But really though, it's actually cheaper here than at the Admirals game at the Scope. Also, they have DipNDots! Who doesn't love those!? Because they are freaking amazing! Extra dollar gets you a Tides hat cup to keep as a future dipping cup. Oh, if youre sober enough to sit and actually watch a game, they have these silly little fun games in between innings. They even throw out free shirts and foam stress balls. Yes, I am a fan of Harbor Park. Even though I'm not a huge baseball fan, it is easy to get caught up in excitement when you are sitting in a large whooping crowd. Last night was the largest crowed I'd ever seen due to the Navy discount they had going on. Besides the excitement of the score, outs and runs, there is also the silly antics of the mascots and silly games played between innings. They do a good job of keeping this going throughout the whole game and giving out bennies to certain sections or people like free Subway Sandwiches or Chic Filet. They even have a bounce house at one corner of the Park for all the little kids to get their jump on. The food is actually decent but unsurprisingly over-priced. I asked my husband to get me a fried s'more simply because I'd never had one and wanted to try it. Turns out it was a Moonpie encircled in a donut. It was still good. The fireworks at the end of the night were amazing, even better than July 4. To me the best and most fun part of the night is letting my kids join the other kids in running the bases at the end of the game. They usually play Cotton Eye Joe and you can't help cheer them on as you see their little faces full of excitement. Definitely an all around great family outing! read more

I'm rolling 2 visits which were one week apart into one review. I can't say enough Harbor Park. The first visit was for $1 hotdog night. We loaded up a couple of times with hot dogs and soda's and caught the game from the 3rd base line. Unfortunately the Tides lost that one. Our 2nd visit was even better, we had a company picnic in the party area behind left field. All sorts of food was available from burgers, dogs, baked beans, potato salad, the works... Even fresh cookies at the end of the line. You could certainly eat to your hearts content and you had great seats besides that from basically the outfielders point of view instead of the normal stands point of view. With a VIP exit we were able to enter and exist the park easily as well. Well played on Harbor Park. read more

This was my first time attending Harbor Park although I have been living in the Hampton Roads area off and on for many years. I have been meaning to check it out to take my son but today got the perfect opportunity. My husbands job sponsored a picnic there so we scored free tix and food. One thing that surprised me was the pay to park. It was only $5 but they only take cash so that is something to know before you go. The picnic started at 1:30 and we there a little before 1pm so we decided to get refreshments while we waited. 2 beers and a water was $22. I found that to a bit pricey. In their defense I guess cheaper admission prices justify the high refreshment prices. All in all we had a great time. Small stadium so definitely not a bad seat in the house. Try and get seats higher up to get more shade. They had some characters from the Nick Jr show Paw Patrol there so they are definitely catering to the kids. During the game there were many games, activities and chances to win prizes. Krispy Kreme runs a special if the Tides score 4 runs or more you get a $4 dozen of donuts.
