Harbor Park is a wonderful baseball park to enjoy a game at, especially after a long work day. I am so thankful we have such a beautiful park right here in Norfolk. Although the park is pretty dated now, it absolutely still serves its purpose of providing a great game experience for spectators of all ages. The workers are great! I was there seeing the Gwinnett Braves play the Norfolk Tides and made many new friends among the great staff. They were all friendly and helpful, giving me advise on how to get autographs, telling me some secrets about the park, etc. I will absolutely be back! read more

Harbor Park is a fairly intimate stadium. Outstanding location right on the water. Light rail stop just outside the stadium. Obviously you can follow the team and enjoy the game. There's also great entertainment between innings. Pretty good concessions stands. The box seats areas have pretty good service as well. As I said, if you enjoy the game if baseball, you'll have fun here. After the game, you can take a short walk to downtown and enjoy the nearby restaurants and bars. read more

The nice night just helped a good game and the Norfolk Tides winning made for a great family outing event. Friday was the last home game of the season. Que the firework extravaganza!! The stadium is always clean, the people are always nice and over indulgence on some junk food never hurt anyone. I have sat in several areas to watch a game but am not sure I have quite found the right one yet. However good company does help to pass the time. I would love to walk away with a door prize or a 5 seconds of fame on the kiss cam but no luck this year, but I will try again next time. I enjoy watching the game, the distance and location of foul balls, the shenanigans during the breaks, the game itself and impromptu Rip Tide shows. The Tides and Harbor Park bring in a variety of groups from families with young kids, to couples on dates, and offices for socials. It's fun seeing all the locals "root, root, root for the home team." I love that the Tide has a stop right outside the stadium, and there were several parents with their kids riding from the same stop we came from. If you're out with friends, I would suggest taking the Tide earlier into Downtown and grabbing drinks somewhere before the game. Drinks and food are expensive at Harbor Park, but that's expected for any entertainment venue. Being minor league, the game isn't as exciting as any major league game, but my little cousin described his first baseball game outing yesterday as "the best day ever." We'll probably come back to Harbor Park over the summer. read more

Love this place on a sunny afternoon or cool evening. The restrooms are clean before the 4th inning, a funnel cake can still be purchased and everyone honors the souvenir cup. Baseball is so boring. Admittedly, I'm not a fan at all. At least, that is, I can't stand it on TV. But I always have fun watching a game at Harbor Park. Every seat offers a great view, there are delicious snacks to pig out on, funny antics by mascots, what's not to love? Also, kids love it. My nephew just visited and it made his vacation that he caught a foul ball while at a game. Well, he ducked for cover under his seat while his dad caught the ball (smart kid!). If you are privy, the boxes are a special treat. One of my clients has invited me to a box a few times and the view is wonderful and you have the option to step inside for air conditioning as well as catering. Fancy. The stadium is perfectly designed for crowd control. It's easy to get there, park, find your way inside and get out without any trouble. They hold special events there at times as well. I remember seeing Jewel perform right there on the field before a game started. Also, when Obama was campaigning for president, he had a rally at Harbor Park. read more

The Baseball Grounds of Hampton Roads I have visited Harbor Park now for 2 baseball games and my perception about the place is first of that (no offense) but the team sucks pretty badly and that the place could use a face lift in several areas. I mean the two separate scoreboard and the extremely eye-sore looking soundboard straight out from second base. They need to invest funds to combine all three boards into one NEW state of the art digital scoreboard. Also I was disappointed to find out they don't have a "Thirsty Thursday" during the season's games played on Thursday nights like a lot of other ballparks I've been to in other cities offering $1 beers till the 7thining. Imagine how many more people would come to the baseball grounds. I'm sure a lot of Old Dominion and Norfolk State University students would attend the games and boost ticket sales substantially as well as game attendance. And then there is RipTide the team mascot. I still have yet to figure out why the costume was made with such a big butt. I mean every time you see him the mascot is always shaking it's butt in fans faces and trying to twerk -it. I mean is the team trying to also promote obesity to fans and children by having such a prominent body part? And Lastly the Team, they can be pretty hit or miss but there just doesn't seem to be enough action by the team for you to really get engaged in the game. The first game they were tied in the bottom of the 8th. I had left early hopping to listen to the last of the game only to find out on the 11pm local news that the game was still going on, I mean SERIOUSLY! I have also heard from a few people in the past that the team has gone 16 innings at a tie and then finally losing the game. Imagine how bad that looks for the team and how disappointing for the fans. The last game I attended blew my mind even though they won the game, but only by walking 3 batters and essentially loading the bases to try to score more points. Just shows how bad the team really sucks at playing the game, but like I said it's hit or miss. Maybe it because I'm used to watching AA teams play the game where is the Tides are an AAA team. **Overall I have nothing against the sport as I love baseball and it's always nice to come out and enjoy a good game, but the city needs to really look at other things and options to increase the fans game enjoyment and attendance. I'm sorry men- but this park is soooooo cute!!! My husband hates that I say this but seriously- its mini and adorable! I hadn't been to a minor league game before but I was impressed by stadium's ample parking, organization and seating. Totally on par with some major league stadiums around the nation and definitely better than my beloved Dodger Stadium (waiting for an earthquake to swallow that beast up). I love that there is no "nose bleed" section too. So I can trust my husband to get some cheap seats and not feel like I am going to die as I walk up and down the stairs. Also- beer comes around quite often so my lazy but can sit for more of the game! I wish they had hot dogs walking around too. The food selection is pretty good and like all stadiums you may have to walk to find what you want. Though thankfully it is small enough that you don't have to go to a different level to get something special. That is sooooooo annoying. Now if only the actual game was better....... read more

Really fun and convenient park to support the Norfolk Tides. It's a bit clustered getting in the gates but once your in the park it's easy to maneuver and the staff are super nice and helpful. Local craft brews on tap, veggie dogs, and veggie burgers to snack on! YUM!! read more

So, I'm a bit biased as every time I've been to this park, I've been in one of the boxes. That being said, for the price, a night at Harbor Park is a pretty decent way to spend you night. They have a full assortment of concessions, which, while not the fastest, are on par with other stadiums. They have a great fried desserts stand! The team... Oh the Tides... well, I've yet to be to a game where they've won, so it's entirely plausible that I'm cursed. I try to leave a little early in the hopes that once my evil aura is out of the stadium they can turn it around. For the area, this is as good as it gets. This is a great minor league ballpark that is clean, well maintained and safe. Entrance prices are relatively reasonable ($11-14) making for a cheap evening (or afternoon) of entertainment. The Norfolk Tides are active in the community and provide several special event games where fireworks or other entertainment are included. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is usually ample across from the stadium ($5). The HRT Tide Light Rail ($3 roundtrip) stops at the ballpark and offers free parking at its stations further east. There are a variety of food stands on the stadium concourse with prices ranging from $3.50-7 for most items. The full-service restaurant "Hits at the Park" provides a buffet for about $18 and has full view of the game from right field. My only complaint is the price for non-alcoholic beverages (about $4.50). There should be a cheaper alternative. read more

I love baseball. I love baseball games. What is more American then baseball, beers, and hotdogs besides overpriced beers and hotdogs? Absolutely nothing. So I said it overpriced! Pretty much sums up it all. $9.50 for a craft beer. I can go to any store and get a 6 pack of craft beer for $9.99. Seriously we spent $80 on 6 beers, 2 hotdogs, 2 pretzels. Not including $35 for tickets. Ouch! My wallet is hurting after a night at the ball game. As far as the falicty goes, it definitely needs some upgrades. The bathrooms suck and are not air conditioned and that's just gross. The seats are so tiny and so packed together you literally sit on top of each other, great way to make friends I guess. Again I love baseball but don't think we will be going anytime soon, not for the price at least. read more

Nice place to watch a ball game. Price were a little high for AAA baseball, based on other parks I have visited. View is nice with water in the background. Ticket seller was pleasant and found us nine seats side by side - even though we got there a few minutes late. For conversation purposes we should have asked for seats in two empty adjacent rows so we could talk to each other better. We went on a Sunday night 5pm game. There are were only two price options, the $13 or $14 tickets. And if you want a military, senior, or kids discount you have to buy the $14 ticket. The $13 ticket is the 300 level seats. We sat in the top of 212 (first base side) and was thankful to be in shade the entire game. Don't forget your $5 for parking. read more

What was once a gem has turned into a heaping pile of garbage. The stadium was built in the early 90s and they are using the original scoreboard screen and the original sound system. It's years overdue for an upgrade. The concourse is not wide enough to handle big crowds. And more importantly, they don't have enough concession windows to handle big crowds. I've been a season ticket holder in the past. This year, opening night will be the only night I attend. The lines were so long that you couldn't walk past them just to get by. I decided to brave one of the lines and stood in it for a half hour. When I got close to the window they just randomly threw up an "out of order" sign and pointed to the stand next to it. Which had a line as long as where I started and, oh by the way, didn't sell anything but hot dogs and nachos. No cheeseburgers or chicken like the line I had chosen, for the purpose of getting one of those options. Oh, and their prices have gone up too. Shame because this has long been a favorite outing of mine. I'll be counting the days til the Neptunes open. read more

Love going to Tides games, but there are a couple areas where there's some room for improvement. 1. It's really awesome that the park offers vegetarian food options (veggie burgers and dogs), but there isn't much available for vegans (basically just fries and cotton candy). It would be great if they could use vegan burgers/dogs instead of just veggie. My family would love to be able to enjoy a [vegan] hot dog while watching the game! 2. I tried calling the general Harbor Park phone number and the number for tickets to ask a question about the box office, but couldn't get past the circuitous automated menu and ended up giving up after a couple tries. Other than that, though, I think the park rocks. And if you have a dog, you've got to check out Bark in the Park! read more

Tickets to the games are super reasonable and the atmosphere is always fun. I love that the Tide stops here! Speaking from personal experience, don't forget to bring sunscreen during the day games or you'll pay for it with a pretty nice burn later. read more

Last Sunday was my first time going to a Tides game. I've been interested in going since last year but something always came up and I could never make it to one. Silly me chose the hottest day ever to go but I didn't mind. The game started at 1:05pm and I got there early enough to get a good parking spot. I was glad I had cash on me because parking in the lot was $5 cash. Once I got into the stadium I was so excited, seeing all the people with their families, all the food stands and beers. My seat was in section 108 which was behind the home team dugout. Although those seats were great almost every seat in that place were great! Before the game started I bought a hotdog and some fries and I also bought some fries. The beers were about 10 bucks but I expected the prices to be up there so I wasn't surprised. I also purchased a nice Tides hat to protect my head from all that sun especially since I have no hair. The game itself was awesome..The Tide's ended up losing but the ambiance from the crowd was so great. I enjoyed myself so much that I'm actually going to another game tomorrow NIGHT this time with a group of friends. read more

We have been out to Harbor Park twice now and I have to tell you, it's a great way to spend an evening. I am a baseball fan but I don't care for watching it on TV. However, there is something about a night at the ball park that makes it seem as if everything is right with the world. I am sure there is a quote from James Earl Jones in "Field of Dreams" that would work better here but it's true. Watching baseball, with the sights, sounds, and smells, is just a part of the American experience. Truly. And doing it at Harbor Park is alot of fun. The first night we went, we were with a large group and had seats down the 1st base side, in the upper deck. Even in the upper parts of the ballpark, there isn't a bad seat in the place. The next night we went, they had fireworks after the game, so we decided to check it out. My wife wanted to sit closer to the field this time. She's not a fan of baseball so maybe she just wanted to get a better look at the boys of summer. And who can blame her? But, I was happy to get down closer to experience the game a little more intimately. We sat behind homeplate about 8 rows back. I recommend these seats but am just as happy to sit up high and take it in. As for the amenities, they have a little bit of everything. Plenty of options for beer and food. The lines did get a bit long on a really crowded night but that's the way it goes anywhere at any sporting event. It does cost five bucks to park but I suppose that goes with the territory as well. The only thing that keeps me from going more often is the price. Yeah, compared to hitting a major league game, this is a bargain. But, you can easily spend well over $100 if you come out with your family, sit in good seats, and let everyone have a drink, dog, and candy. I suppose we could just go to the game and not have the other stuff but that isn't near as much fun. So, I guess we will stick with our two or three games a season but I do look forward to the next one. read more

After a hot day at the beach, we got to spend a lovely evening at the ballpark, specifically Harbor Park, to watch the local minor league Norfolk Tides battle the Durham Bulls (Triple A). Parking was a cinch in a gravel lot about a block away and we had great seats half way up behind home plate. Of course a ballgame is not complete without hot dogs, so I made an attempt at eating a massive 8 oz. cheese hot dog. I almost won that battle, but not quite. The park, located on the Elizabeth River in downtown Norfolk, is beautiful, but the game dragged a bit. So, we left a little early and the Tides ended up losing the game, unfortunately. But, it was a very fun night after a long, eventful day. read more

Always a good time to be had at 'ol Harbor Park! I took my boyfriend for his first Tides game experience last night & we had a blast. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The lady in the ticket box recommended her favorite spot in the park when we were choosing were to sit & we weren't disappointed! We bought a few beers (nice beer selection I must add) & a jumbo hot dog. Why do hot dogs taste so much better at a ball game?? I'm not the biggest sports fan, but I always enjoy the atmosphere & energy of the park. Rip Tide is also very entertaining! Can't wait to go back for a night they have fireworks. Well, that and the thought of being hit in the back of the head by one of those big '#1' foam fingers, but that's a different review. Harbor Park is a great place to bring the whole family in Norfolk. No kids? Go enjoy the beer and festivities with a group of friends. I wouldn't say that the food/drinks are outrageously priced, but they aren't cheap either. I've been to several baseball games here and it's always a fun time. Some of the seating is shaded so you should definitely try to get that section if you know it's going to be a hot day. They have guys that walk around with snow cones, hot dogs, popcorn, beer and other drinks so you don't even have to get up for a snack. Harbor Park is a little confusing to try to get to, the parking does cost money usually but it's a really good time. Take yourself out to the ballgame as soon as possible. read more

I should start out by saying I don't know crap about baseball (other than the basics) and I have never been to a real professional sports event in my life. But I love going to Harbor Park. It's so much more than the game. It's the whole experience. The smell of hot dogs and popcorn and summer air. The crack of bats, the cheering crowd, the "Dadada-dum-dadaaah.... Charge!" and, in true Hampton Roads style, the giant Navy ship blasting its guns on the video screen every time the home team scores. The home team is the Tides, by the way. At least I know that much. The day games are a great way to play hookie from work if you're job is in downtown Norfolk. I won't tell anyone. Fun hangout for a weekend afternoon. Traffic is stupid in this area of town, so GO THE BACK WAY! Do not follow your phone's GPS. ;) Because everyone else is listening to their Siri, and you'll end up spending an hour trying to crawl from the freeway to the Park. Once you get there though, it's great! Well kept, clean, cool architecture, fun atmosphere, great fans, expensive crappy food, everything you expect at a ballgame! There's no crying in baseball!! Harbor Park is great! For $13ish you get good seats (there aren't really any bad seats), a gorgeous view (the river, the train bridge, the shipyard cranes, the field itself), and the ability to sit outside in beautiful summer/fall weather and enjoy friends, beer, a pretzel, and a baseball game. OK, maybe that's specifically what I enjoy. Yes, it's often crowded, but who wants an empty stadium? The seats are comfy even in the upper decks. Yes, it costs $9.50 for a craft beer, but for me it's the special O'Connor stadium draft (awesome), which is totally worth it and only a couple dollars more than I'd pay at a bar. They have fireworks, Star Wars night, dog friendly nights, etc. - always something special going on. The fact that I can Light Rail from right outside my apartment to the stadium and back is icing on the cake. read more

This was once one of the best parks in the minor leagues. The Tides haven't spent a dollar maintaining or upgrading it since it opened 25 years ago. It's a putrid dump. The docks outside the park are broken and rotting. The scoreboard kept going out and looks crummy when on. The concession area is dumpy, lines move slow. I grew up in Wisconsin where watching pro-sports is just about all there is to do. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I always loved going to Miller Park with my Dad to watch the Brewers. My son started playing T-ball last fall and now he loves it, so my husband wanted to take him to a game. I wasn't sure what to expect going to a minor league game, but it was quite comparable. I simply could not believe how many fans were at the game (10,400) and how similar the whole experience was to a pro game. My husband and I had a great time, and so did our kids (ages two and five years). There are a lot of snack options and a friendly crowd. Also, a very patriotic event. First time to visit this ballpark. We went for "Bark in the Park" night. My goldendoodle got to mingle with a lot of dogs. Most dogs were friendly and fun to meet. I did not score it higher based on a few things. One, the food was about a 2 star. My kids could not even eat their food. Two, the seats we were sitting in had mildew and running out of the wall behind us and running out underneath our feet. I have been to many baseball parks, so I might be a little picky for some. But, for a lot of people...baseball games and their awesome hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, and other yummy treats have become a tradition. I do appreciate their special theme games and military support. There are some good things going on at Harbor Park. We visited the store and bought a few items for my kiddos. They had a clearance section (which I appreciate since I have 3 kids) which you do not usually see at ballpark stores. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. read more

Who doesn't love a baseball game? I know I do. Harbor park hosts the Norfolk Tides and is overall, a wonderful place to spend an evening with your family, or anyone else for that matter. The prices for tickets are totally affordable with all the ball field vendors you could imagine. Beers, galore (good beers too!). Locals cheering loudly and everyone is SOOOOO friendly. My first experience here felt like my 24th and everyone was best friends with everyone else.
