From the moment we walked in the door we were enamored by all the murals and the game room! What?!…read moreWe only waited a few minutes until both boys were called to the back for cleaning. Miss Rita and Miss Jaye, both dental assistants were just wonderful! Their cleanings were swiftly done and then Dr. Dansie showed up and said they had no problems. This seriously was the quickest dental appointment we have ever had for the boys. Thank you Dr. Dansie for an awesome experience. Clearly both Miss Rita and Miss Jaye are a direct reflection of your work ethics. We have since scheduled their next appointment.

Our family had been patients at The Kids' Dentist for about two years, and until this experience,…read morewe truly loved the office. Two of our children were patients there, which makes this review especially disappointing. After Dr. Dansie presented a treatment plan for our 4-year-old son that included general anesthesia, multiple crowns, and two pulpotomies (baby root canals), we decided to seek a second opinion before proceeding. The second dentist recommended treating the cavities with fillings under local anesthesia and laughing gas, with no crowns or pulpotomies. We found this reassuring and simply wanted to discuss whether a more conservative treatment plan would be appropriate for our son. Over the next month, we called the office at least six times trying to speak directly with Dr. Dansie. We were told he was on vacation. Ten days after our initial request, another dentist left a voicemail offering to answer our questions. We missed the call, and when we called back the next business day, we were once again routed through the front desk. The lack of direct communication resulted in significant miscommunication. We were under the impression that the updated treatment plan would not include crowns, pulpotomies or general anesthesia. We scheduled treatment based on that understanding. Then, just two days before the appointment, we were informed that Dr. Dansie would not be there and another dentist would perform the procedure. At the appointment, the covering dentist planned to complete Dr. Dansie's original treatment plan using crowns and the pulpotomies. The only change in the plan was to use local anesthesia and to complete treatment over multiple visits. I shared that this was not the treatment we believed had been discussed. The dentist refused to modify the treatment plan. For that reason, we left without treatment. Two business days later, Dr. Dansie called and explained that he had never received a message that we had been trying to reach him. By then, it had been over a month since our initial request to speak with him. I shared the same concerns outlined in this review, and he was apologetic and understanding of our decision to leave the practice. We ultimately chose to leave the practice and sought a third opinion. That dentist recommended the most conservative approach of the three opinions we received: fillings only, using laughing gas and laser dentistry, with no crowns or pulpotomies. I understand that dentists can have different treatment philosophies, but the poor communication, last-minute provider change, and confusion surrounding our son's treatment plan caused us to lose confidence in the practice.

My family moved to Gig Harbor in 2007, when our oldest son was two and our youngest, who is now 5, was yet to be born. Dr Block is the only dentist my children have had since 2007. Dr Block and her staff have always been courteous and professional and given advice that has kept our children completely free of cavities and in good dental health. In addition, this past spring my youngest son took a horrific fall that damaged a couple of teeth, required an emergency room visit and follow-ups to Dr Block. She was great, squeezed him in the next day and for a couple of crucial follow ups to ensure he was healing properly. This was a scary time, and Dr Block was great with him and with us. Dr Block has seen my two kids each and every time they've had an appointment for a cleaning or anything else. just as when I go in for a cleaning, the hygienist does her thing, and then the Dentist inspects and finishes each and every time. I cannot speak to anyone else's experiences with Dr Block, but our experience have been the polar opposite of what's described here.

I was quite worried about how it would go because my son is quite the worrier and pretty apprehensive about the unknown. Dr. Block and Sara made it easy and comfortable. I was able to go back with my son, which was important to me. I would recommend this practice to anyone. They are the best!!!
